Good, fair and open trade rather than war
and destruction. Maybe even relaxed rule
of law? Either way, it sounds like businesses
will also open without any begging or
demands by a “conquerors.” so much the better.

True, if their parking in orbit will trigger the
attack it’ll make the logistics more bearable
for the navy, fewer support trips to the system.
I’m looking forward to the coming battle!

no,, law remains fixed… you break it, max penalty.!!
you give a sucker a even break and they push it for
all it’s worth.!! my pet peeve,. arbitrary traffic law,.
, speeding. whats acceptable over? NOTHING! one
mile over, car confiscated, 6 months in jail,. and fine
scales to your income. or,, the arbitrary light law,,
“my headlights can blind people on the moon.!!”
      ….pant pant,,, .

Unfortunately, Law Enforcement is as susceptible
to Sturgeon’s Law as any other field. There are
two sub-species of law enforcement officers.
On the one hand are cops, who understand that
their job is to enforce the law.
On the other hand are the pigs, who consider
        themselves TO BE the law.

            Disagree completely, Mr Stanley.
What we DON’T need are more pigs.
Pigs are the LEOs who enjoy running
            roughshod over people’s rights.
It’s pigs’ actions that get cities and
            police forces sued.
Pigs make us all less safe by destroying
            people’s trust in law enforcement.
So, no, we need fewer pigs and more cops.

What we need are less cops and pigs,
and more of the old style Peace Officers.
              Pigs are about power
Cops are about tickets, fines and money.
              Peace officers are about…..peace and
              neighborhoods.

                You, sir , are correct.
and the fastest way to get there
                is to de-militarize the police
                and give them adequate training.
2-3 years instead of 6 weeks.

RE: Speeding. News feed keeps popping up stories
of “outrageous” numbers of tickets when automated
systems are added, such as school zones, or areas
with high accident counts. I can see complaints
about surveillance, or privacy, or removing people
from the decision trees, or improper signage.
With valid objections, work to get it changed.

But most of those little articles are about
ID-10-Ts who knew they were speeding,
and upset that they were caught.
Whatever someone may think about a law,
they should be prepared for the consequences
when they choose to break that law.

as to why i said “Draconian Law” is they WILL
weasel out if they can.. IE: speeding 50 in a
35,. thrown out, cuz the one block (school
zone) was not clearly marked,. and for a mile
on either side was clearly marked 45.. so 50
was not speeding… as per income, rich guy
has no qualm of paying a $500 ticket ‘when’
          he gets caught…

In my long and eventful life,
I have been on the wrong end of umm…
          several… traffic stops.
My policy is always to be polite,
          calm and respectful.
Fewer than half of the stops have resulted in
a citation, and when I have eaten a ticket,
the officer has almost always reduced the
          offense.
Two times from above 15 over to 10 or 14,
because the officer knew that 15+ was death
          to a truck driver.
Pull as far off the road as you can,
make the stop as safe and pleasant for the
officer as possible (He has ALL the power here)
and you have a good chance of getting off easy.

Tell that to the rookie cop that pulled over,
jumped out of his car, pulled his gun on me
and demanded I drop my “weapon” and
get on the ground. The ONLY reason I
wasn’t shot or arrested is because his
trainer stepped in and stopped him cold.
I was just walking to the bus stop and
was doing nothing wrong. I do know I
could hear the ass-chewing he was
giving that kid even after I had walked
            a block.

I will admit I was shaking a bit,
but only because I was trying
              not to laugh…

I was just saying that the law of the Empire rather
than the traditional law they seem to expect. Honor
is earned, not gifted by birth. The old “advisors”
were demanding they be listened to and obeyed,
why? Because of the honor they have. Policies and
laws are ignored for the sake of honor.

ok,, this ‘Was not’ about good cop, bad cop.
but about “Strict enforcement” of law.
and yes , i sed needed more ‘bad cop’ to
      enforce laws as is now…
in my “dealing’s” with cops (25+) i’ve met
2 bad,. the rest were just doing their job

We need men who can go from “Officer Friendly”
to “Officer Wolverine” in a heartbeat.
Then let them do their jobs. But men like that
are hard to find, and should be rewarded.

Have you ever noticed that the people most
likely to give someone a piece of their
