Oh dear, oh dear… I have a sneaking suspicion. If my suspicion is
correct I have to really, really, really congratulate the writing
here. Because this will rank on the most daring and most insane and
most brilliant plays I’ve seen.
In an earlier comment I compared the Empire playing Stratego while
the Core Worlds are still playing Chess.
If I’m right, the Core Worlds are still playing Chess, but the
Empire is playing Stratego… in 3D
I agree yep they see pawns but in reality they are bombs… nukes more
likely lol I played that game a lot as a kid it was so easy to get
someone to think they have you beat and then the trap gets triggered. lol
There is so many way this can play out and happily most ends
badly for the core races.

This is more than a simple battlefield manual. It’s also part and parcel of statecraft.
The best form of misdirection is to tell your envoys and partners in crime, the truth as they should know it.
The other is to always keep those that you want to deceive, confused.
As for the former, that should be either close to the truth, or contain some truth, but have enough misdirection to contain or divert the actions of hostile or non friendly actors.
With deception, it should be as believable as possible, as it wastes the time and resources of those that oppose you, trying to work out the truth and facts.
A good deception should also never fully be able to be proven or denied.
This applies equally to hostile or non friendly actors, whether they are sanctioned by the Nation/State, or simply be Privateers.
The latter of which may also be sanctioned by the Nation/State, or wealthy clientele, which includes large Corporations and Intelligence Entity’s.
So far, as your story goes, the Cat’s, an assumed One World Wonder, may be stitching up the Core Worlds with a few rogue trade deals.
Which is the intelligence that you would expect to become known, from various sources.
The problem is the Unknowns, and the poor assumptions. That’s where the drama comes from, where the hostile or non friendly actors are concerned.
The Cat’s are also advising those who get on board early and who they trust, at this point in time, that they aren’t necessary a One World Wonder.
However, that proposition requires a small leap of faith, with the Cat’s Nation/State partners, with the exception of the Dogushan.
They have been given quite the incentive.
As for Plots and Story lines, from Ancient Rome to the East India Company, and the 16th Century Dutch Traders, those that attempted to directly take on the established Monopoly failed.
Remembering that Politics was an equally effective weapon as barring unsanctioned Trade vessels from Monopoly controlled ports and routes.
This skullduggery would take many forms, including excessive taxation within their controlled territories, use of Armed Merchant vessels or Naval vessels, and outright Piracy, in the form of Privateers.
However,, as always, this strategy fell apart where smaller Nation/States and Private Traders, and those sponsored by wealthier entities, competed in the trade of the more lucrative merchandises, or traded outside of the Monopoly controlled ports and routes.
Also remember the history from Ancient Rome, to current times, of Private Traders and Privateers.
They also carried high value cargo, and took the opportunity to capture worthy vessels, crew and trade goods as the opportunity presented itself.
The only issue was transporting the Trade Goods and other Bounty out to an area not managed or frequented by the various Monopoly controlled entities, and then offloading the Trade Goods and Bounty to merchants in Colony’s and in this case, Worlds, who new better than to ask about it’s provenance, and who could pay enough that their out of pocket expenses covered their costs and a reasonable margin could be had.
Again, we can all remember a certain 17th century Colony not far from the Bahama’s, that benefited from this sort of trade, where Taxes, Custom Charges and other imposts where waived, and other than the handling and transport costs a very reasonable margin could be had.
Even Edward Teach alternated between being a Private Trader and Privateer. Mr Teach also failed to learn the lesson of never taking the established Monopoly head on. As is well known, he lost his head in the effort.
So providing you don’t get greedy initially, you will eventually become the Portuguese Menace to the Dutch Traders Empire.
A lot of history, Politics, War, Mischief, Drama, Skullduggery and storytelling in that mess. All that’s required is to launch it into galactic orbit.
I suspect part of the plan.

Oh, BRAVO, King Garion. I must bow to you and your strategy.
By having Tenshi in the room watching the crime videos with the adults,
it forces the adults to pay full attention and not “wool gather”.
Even Janice, hard boiled jaded reporter that she is, is deeply affected
by this. She may even turn out to be human after all.
I would hate to have to argue against King Garion in anything.
He seems to be a hard headed pragmatist,
yet with mercy for those deserving a.
I await the next ‘toon with fishhook (baited = bated) breath.

LOL! I for one hope we get to see those animals being taken to the
gallows I don’t want to see them swing a “fade to black” so to speak
would be fine by me. or a cut to Tenshi’s face where we see a faint
smile and a sigh of relief maybe? I don’t know… not joy or
satisfaction just relief like taking a much needed shower
to get the filth off…
Ah yes I expected Janice to miss the reason why Tenshi was there and
go on a rant. kids are stronger than most people want to believe and
can deal with some awful experiences just ask any child going through
cancer treatments or abusive home life.
Tenshi will need some help dealing and she will never forget this but

he needs to fill the hole in his heart that he has and she needs support of a caring person that understands.

Like tobacco or other substances, if your senses are reasonably adept, particularly your sense of smell, you can smell strong substances on their breath, or if the seat, from their pores or sweat glands.
This includes things like garlic, ginger, onions, strong cheeses, Red and White wine, most Beer’s and a host of other substances.
Although this ability is reduced for smokers, drug users and those that imbibe to much narcotic substances.
That’s just something else I noticed back in my Army days. Trust me, after eight or more weeks in the field, all your sense’s kick into high gear. Also, A heightened sense of smell isn’t always a good thing.
Ah no it’s not try a hog pen in 95 F weather or a cow barn that was abandoned for 5 years.
one wiff and I can still taste that smell in the back of my throat!
I lived/worked in Gary, IND in the late 70’s it was the murder capital in the USA then
I still check corners and watch for moving shadows or the odd noise without thinking
to this day.

Of coarse it could also have been a unintentional slip by her (but not PC) as she is unlikely to realise the significance of Cofveve to the ‘Goblins’.
