OOOAH! Gunny! Semper Fi. Direct hit on target. Congratulations.

I see that he’s serving tea in mugs, not dainty thin bone china tiny
teacups.
(I have to wonder what the inside of his cup looks like? The inside
of most NCOs cups (coffee) were seldom washed, unless it became a
health hazard (green and other colors). Other then that, DON’T TOUCH!
You’ll wash out the saved flavor. How do I know? I follow NCO tradition)
OOORAH!! Semper Fi.! I made it to Staff… (E-6)

The Catians and the Dogishuans (sp?) are following that axiom of all
successful societies, “Si vis pacem, para bellum”. In times of peace,
prepare for war.
Since the seats in the Council appear to be by species and not by political
entity, and since the other species collectively consider Catians to be
legally Human, and since as I recall no current Human political entity is
seated for whatever reason, I can see Palas and Chardis’s confidence of
success. I don’t see a non-hypocritical way around it.
I can also see the desire to have that done before the Empire’s existence
is known. Under the current rules, the Empire will have several seats on
that council, one for every species that has completely joined, and a
nonzero chance for any that have only partially joined, like the Humans.
It reminds me of the way the old Soviet Union had separate seats in the UN
General Assembly for Belarus and Ukraine (even though Scotland and not a
few other places around the globe deserved separate representation at least
as much). But we know both the UN and the USSR were not strangers to
hypocrisy.
I would expect a rules change to make representation by sovereign political
entity rather than by species to follow, except that Humans (and likely
several other of the more prolific species) would then be viewed by the
others as gaining power (even though the Humans would be unlikely to work
together on very many issues.)
Catians were slaves so they weren’t considered “real people” by many
of the races so of course they are ignored mostly. I’m sure it’s why
they were able to get away with the fringe trading routes for as long
as they did. Once the core figures things out they will no doubt think
it’ll be easy to pick them off etc… Yeah the core ships don’t have
a chance they just don’t know it yet.
I never made it into service myself mild case of scoliosis they told
me I’d never be able to carry a field pack even though at the Marine
recruiters office to get the bad news I went so far as to pick up both
the recruiter and his chair to show I wasn’t weak…. yeah didn’t
go over so good. LOL

Sadly for you, I can see their side. Yes, you were strong. At that moment.
BUT they didn’t want to have to take you out of a battle zone in case of
a medical accident (not related to battle). Same reasoning they don’t (or
at least didn’t used to) allow diabetics in the military, even thought the
recruit has their condition under control……at that moment.
No telling what will be in the future. Or access to insulin.
My sympathies to you. A stalwart heart and a willing spirit, alas,
betrayed by an imperfect body.
originally i tried for the army,, as both parents were in the army,
but they would not take me , because i had a “Army Issue Live
Birth Registration” , not a state issued birth certificate.!! the
Marines looked at it (after picking them selves off the floor
ROFLOL.) ,, registered it with the state, an signed me up..
I do get that and I don’t blame them too much plus 5 years later I
had a near fatal car accident that broke my back in 2 places and
left me partly paralyzed on my right side so I can help but wonder
if they had taken me back then… woulda coulda shoulda I guess I
never would of met my wife of 37 yrs and had 2 kids and 3 grandkids
so good trade-off
Sandy, that is an interesting outfit you chose for today. A leather
“body stocking”, or light armor? No visible weapons, but not really
“off duty”. Though I suppose in many conditions just yourself is
enough “weapon” :}
Seb, like your lab flask as tea kettle! Assuming that is a hot plate
(as well as magnetic stirrer?) it is sitting on.
That’s a lab mixer/hotplate (can’t remember the proper name) my high
school chemistry teacher used his to make coffee LOL there’s a
motorized magnet under the center of the hot plate that lets you
drop a metal stirring bar into the coffee/tea/chemical mixture.
since Petercat uses ‘stock pic’s’ , I’m guessing this is suppose to
be a ” Bachelor griller “. but,, since most ‘labs’ use generic
equipment, a cheap griller is not out of the question. the only lab
difference in names is gas or electric,. and with/out stirrer.. IE:
“use the Cimarec (electric) because the Bunson’s open flame will
ignite it.”
The sticks I’ve seen was covered in chemical-resistant plastic or
ceramics to ensure no contact between the iron inside and the (often)
corrosive fluids in the beaker. Mother-in-law had one in her sewing
case to keep the needles in control. Actually she had 2, the other
was to be used if someone accidently dropped a needle…
Picture this: you are dabbing around on the carpet to find
the dropped needle – where does it end up? 😀
light armor… with modern armor cloth, i could make a 3
piece suit that would stop most conventional handguns..
her weapon is on the end of the counter..
stirrer.. heathen .. steeping is the preferred method..
and no more than 5 minutes, so as not to bitter the tea..
.. 🙂 joking ,, joking .. 🙂

nothing to to with her eyesight either.
