“happy pill” in hopes of helping me through it, plus a nurse
has been calling me daily. I have a history of self-harm
attempts in the past and I’m arguing with myself often.
My son is keeping a close eye on me, he even took a week
of vacation. And he still has my guns locked up…
Remember you are still needed. Your family needs you. Hell, WE
would be poorer without you. An elder brother of mine, Jewish,
once told me ‘Do you know how you can tell if God still has work
for you to do? Check and see if you’re still breathing. If you are,
you aren’t done yet.’ Life missions change, but there is no last one.
I’m trying, They are setting me up with a psyc-nanny
next month to help me deal with it. Yah! I get to talk
to a judgemental person about my darkest secrets again…
As someone who stares depression in the face on a regular basis,
I tell you that you CAN get through this.

I have as well, being older and “smarter” helps,
but she was the main reason I got my head on
straight in the first place, so I’m a bit lost. At
least I haven’t reverted to asshole mode,
yet anyway heh.
I was blaming myself heavily at first, after they
took back the bed I was cleaning up a bit and
found her hose was crushed by the bed’s wheel.
But when I spoke to my son about it he reminded
me we were checking it often during the day, so
it must have happened when they took her out
of the room after she passed. Survivor guilt is
a bitch.

Yeah, towards the end, she was always worried about not getting
enough oxy. I figured it out, just the first few days I felt like I had
let her die. She did need more, but there was no way to give it to
her without a trachea tube being installed. And she refused it
months ago. Just like she refused a transplant 12 years ago. Bull-
headed to the end.
Went with the wife to the Orthopedist yesterday. It’s official,
she needs her left hip replaced. Waiting on the Doc’s scheduler
to call to set up the date. She also needs her left kneed replaced
as well. That’s her remaining natural knee. Her right femur is
a whole lot steel. But the hip comes first. Some fun, eh?
The only way the Disruptors could defend against the
kamikaze ships would be to have a weapon or shield
that could nullify inertia, which breaks every single
rule of physics.
Yeah, I had read that book series too, when I
was a kid, I had a paperback copy of one of
them, they talked about the difficulty of
hand-to-hand combat in both micro-gravity
and inertialess. Hard to punch someone
when your fist flashes to your target and
they gently float away. It was E. E. Smith’s
answer to FTL. No inertia, no speed limit.
