Ha! They built personal residences on land they didn’t own.
And got caught. Absolutely serves them right. And even in our world,
there is no requirement to compensate them,
since it isn’t a case of eminent domain,
but of clearing illegal structures from public land.

NOW we know why they tried to pull this, they had illegally
built their homes on someone else’s land WITHOUT permission,
this was a weak attempt to put a stop to anyone finding out.

Ah they were disarmed, now it’s time to talk this idiots down
and get them to surrender. They had to get this close since
the external antennae was taken out.

I just watched this, it dates back to last April. It
puts me in mind of this conflict.

      Not just that.
If I read the prior pages right, the spaceport would have made a seaport
necessary for interasia trade, which would have would have messed
      up their nice beachfront.
The fallback plan, industrial park, would have given the couple power
in town and maybe drawn the interest of the government, something
that would have threatened their private little kingdom.

The way I read it, it is their land, but the zoning doesn’t allow for
    private residences, public use only.
I suspect they build their homes or rezoned the area so they had
the quietest neighborhood in town with the best view. Reading a
few pages back, a seaport for Interasia trade would have made
it necessary to rezone the area they build their homes on.
And with no higher authority available after the fall, the town was
the town council’s private little kingdom. Even the industrial park
would have gotten the town noticed with the Empire of the Sun,
i.e. threatened the town council’s rule.

I love that Daggers are black. They’d be impossible to spot visually.

At real engagement range (10’s if not 100’s or even
thousands of kilometers), something that size would
be next to impossible to locate visually no matter
      what color it was.

that,, was the problem with tv an movies…
the “Visual” look vs what it really looks like.!
with that you run into, “What size is it.?”
IE: BSG, the cool shot of the viper chasing the
raider over the back of the Galactica. –
made the ship over 3 miles long…
        http://ravensbranch.allen.com/galacticasize.html
panel 5 (i know perspective.) IF the dagger is
30m away then the windows behind it,
        are about 50m in size…
but to see one the other is skewed…

Like in “Attack of the Clones” at first glace it looked like
every ship was about to collide with every other one.
Another issue with the OG Galactica was was they were
all miniatures, so visual distances were just “off.” CGI
hasn’t helped any, if anything, it’s made it worse. Still
cracks me up, those nuts that claim that the moon
landings were faked and the images sent back had to
be CGI… 25 years BEFORE CGI was invented… Much
          less perfected.

“Before Invented”… don’t you know.!? it’s all been invented.!
the gov just sets on it till they can make the most money!
            (snark)

That’s like the American Indians thinking that cameras
stole the soul of who ever was photographed. Many would
kill anyone foolish enough to show them their picture to
them to “save their soul from the white demons.” No joke.
My great grandfather thought radio was some kind of
trick, my grandfather insisted that TV was a fad that
would end “any day now” and my father still thinks that
              “Alexa” is a person like on a two-way radio…
And the younger set thinks that the tech they see
              everyday has been around forever.

Ah, well it came up with many African tribes as well,
“Any tech sufficiently advanced will look like magic to
those less advanced” which was the entire idea behind
SG-1 and such. Even had cases in TOS where the
locals were being controlled by some forgotten
computer, or some other device. Which is where the
panic over AI has come from, too many TV and movie
                  depictions of them going rouge.

What you (somewhat) quoted was Arthur C Clarke’s 3rd
                    (and best known) law:
                    “Any sufficiently advanced technology is
                    indistinguishable from magic.”

It wasn’t my intention to offend, just repeating history.
Picture cameras were around in the late 1800’s, many
tribes were still out of touch back then. The invaders were
forcing too many things at once, it was bound to happen.
There was a movie (i forget the name) that someone was
time traveling back to the old west with SMGs and
robbing anyone they could, I believe it was a Van Dam flick.

Hunkpapa, and since the ‘eyes are the windows to the soul.’
each picture steals a portion of the soul.
there are 11 pictures of me in existence. and each time my
ID expires, i ritually destroy it…
joke? how about those that believe earth is flat,, or rabbit
drops colored eggs,, or ,, i can go on, but that gets more in
                  to religion…
