Hmmm.. it is legend but it has a ring of truth to it. I had the dragons pegged if it’s true they got lazy.
Judging by the interactions we’ve seen they only do anything if forced otherwise they use the excuse
that they are “stupid mud monkeys” or whatever they call the non-humanoid races. With a few
    exceptions of course!

Another Karen rendered speechless by the cold hard truth and facts I’ll never get tired of that LOL.

Some truths depend on one’s point of view. It may well be that this is valid from the
Core World’s view but the dragons see their then-motivation differently.

Having dealt with some HOA’s in the past, I can assure you they are rife with “Crazy Old Ladies’
with so much time on their hands they can police the neighborhood like the GESTAPO and are just
as ruthless. I like the way the girls told that old busybody to mind her own business.

That is why I’m glad the HOA in my subdivision was not formed until some
time after all the homes.were built. There are several deed mandates but
an HOA is not one of them. For that reason membership is not mandatory
and they cannot actually require anything not listed among the deed mandates.
Therefore they cannot pull the kind of tricks which are the subject of so
many horror stories. Most importantly (to my mind) they cannot level any
fines. That makes them toothless. Which, by my way of thinking is a
      good thing.

countless hours dealing with HOA and the building commission with is LOADED
with Karls and Karens tiny little pencil-pushers who’s only power is either
to let you move up the ladder or hand you a piece of paper so you can repair
your porch or widen your driveway a foot…. sigh…

Sad thing is the area we live in now was annexed by a town and now a 500+
subdivision is being built a half a mile away and already problems
      have started to crop up!

This reminds me of a situation my father had to deal with. His next door neighbor decided
that the property line ran through my fathers garage and was demanding either my father
to tear it down or pay him rent. This garage was decades old who knows where that came
        from.
My father went to the planning commission and after hours spent he got the original property
line plans for both properties. After which we went next door showed them the property line
was running through HIS driveway not my father’s garage! So he and I went out and bought
fencing and started to drive fence posts on the property line… We were half done before the
horse’s arse came out and apologized and asked if they could work it out… didn’t help I was
rolling on the ground laughing while they talked LMBO!!! ๐Ÿ˜€

This thing about their legends has me wondering… I’d love to have a look at them in
detail because I can’t help but wonder if these “Elder Gods” wasn’t just another scientist(s)
tinkering like the whack job that created the Catians. Blending DNA with simple animals
to create a race best suited for environments that they themselves couldn’t handle with
their natural form. A “natural” terraforming crew that’s just acting by instinct and basic
    knowledge? Just saying….

Another thing I’ve noticed is the core humans are all white and blond while the Terrains are mixed
which indicates that the core humans were transplanted and were hand picked for those types. Kinda
reminds me of the “master race” ideology from Nazi Germany, makes me wonder if the “elder gods”
    had the same ideas.

If I recall, I once said that Terrans were a lost Human colony that the Dragons decided to
isolate, to see how we would develop without any past traditions. The difference might be
due to unique environmental differences between Earth and the rest of the Human worlds.
Maybe there is no missing link, because that’s when the original colonists arrived.
I don’t know, I didn’t expect this comic to get so complicated at the time I wrote that.
      Thoughts, any one?

      • Scarsdale

Earth and all it’s flora and fauna share very similar DNA just a few bits off and the diversity
of the human form still makes me wonder if it isn’t the other way around. If Earth was the colony
then there should be the very same wildlife on both planets which would be a very complicated
process that the dragons would have to undertake! I don’t know your the boss I just notice
        things like this… Sorry…
Which is probably why I don’t go to conventions LOL.

Or else Earth was only partially terraformed. Much of our flora and fauna
haven’t been seen on other worlds, such as palm trees and other tropical plants.
African animals as well. Much of what I created was before the comic was
fully fleshed out, so it might not be logical by now.

Skin pigmentation is merely an adaption to solar radiation,
            especially ultraviolet rays.
(Take a few Africans out off Africa and let them live a
few 10 000 years in Scandinavia and you get Scandinavians,
            been done before, actually.)

So maybe other worlds with humans somehow happen to have
a slightly different Atmosphere? Or a colder (= redder) sun?

Personally, I’d prefer if the other worlds have more diversity
            skincolorwise, too.
Maybe we’ve just not seen all that many of them, yet?

Defining blonde whites as the norm has rather unfortunate
            implications.

From a story-telling perspective it would probably easiest
if you turned the whole thing upside down as a plot twist:
It somehow turns out Humans developed here on Earth
after all and then someone came along and abducted a few
of us to play (Elder) God(s).

T’ll be easier than explaining all those pesky dino fossils …

Re: homo saps evolving on earth:
I agree with you. It would not do any violence to the over all TGW universe.
It could even provide possible plot lines. I watched a video recently where the
author postulated that Plato’s tale of Atlantis could possibly be fact.
According to Plato, Atlantis was destroyed around 10,000 BCE. There is actually
some evidence (albeit highly circumstantial) that might suggest a very high – even
high tech – civilization in the distant past. Gobekli Tepi is one as is the fact that
Egyptian stone technology was best earlies and got worse later. There is
also a possible explanation for Atlantis’ destruction. At one time the
mediterranean was much smaller than today. Then around 10,000 BCE there was
a massive, rapid flooding event where the med basin filled up. Plato swore that
Atlantis was real. If it was then there is the possibility that Lamia is actually a
colony founded by people from Atlantis. If that were the case then it would explain
Terran and Lamian interfertility. Atlantis could very well have been populated by
caucasians. That would explain the lack of diversity of phenotype in the Lamians.
The dragons could have very well have sealed off Terra strictly for their own
purposes. There is nothing in the TGW lore that I know of that would preclude this
being the case. Homo saps as “wolf children” is a well known trope in SciFi. Of
course it is, after all, the Catman’s universe. He just lets us visit.

Depending on how you interpret Plato’s tale, there’s also the possibility,
that his inspiration was the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minoan_eruption
(Ancient calendar systems can be tricky like that)

It fits most of the details just fine – there was a high civilization at Akrotiri
on Thera/Santorini; namely it seemed to have been part of the Minoan culture.

Akrotiri was buried under volcanic ashes, the coastal parts of Crete where
devastated by a Tsunami – the Minoans never recovered from this.

Also there’s the stuff in Plato’s story about alternating rings of land and water …
It’s highly likely that Thera’s caldera had a central mount as most volcanoes
of this type do (modern time Santorini has Nea Kameni for example).

It doesn’t take too much imagination to describe this as “rings of land and water”.

As reflected in both the Biblical Noah and the Ark, and the Tales of Gilgamesh.

You might have opened a can of worms, here.
So tell me, why would defining blond whites as the norm have unfortunate
implications? Why diversity of skin color, in itself, so important?
After all, Asia, Africa and the Middle East are not very diverse, is that a
              bad thing?
I’m not going to add diversity just to have it. That includes sexuality. Yes,
there are gays in the Wolf Worlds, most of them are just like anyone else,
they live their lives and keep the private parts private.

If anyone else wants to join this conversation, feel free. Just keep it
polite and respectful. Diversity of ideas is desired here.

As for implications: The first post in this thread started with an observation …

Africa and Asia are pretty diverse actually – maybe not in terms of color, though.
But I agree, skin color should be the least important difference.

About diversity – your universe is quite diverse species-wise, frankly.
And other species like Catians and those Dog-folks come in all kind of colorings.

Also, if Humans were non-native to Earth and all non-Terran Humans share a
common phenotype – how come the Terrans evolved into the diversity we currently
                do have?

On the other hand there’s a few possible explanations I can think up on the spot:
                1) Before the diaspora all Humans used to live together in a rather small region.
                2) All non Terra-Humans spent most of their lives indoors or even in space.
                3) Apart from Earth, all Human settlements stayed tightly connected with lots of
“match making” over larger distances …

finding a true goldilocks planet first,. a unstable Yellow (white) star,.
not a stable white, from which they came,. you have genetic drift.
then continental drift for more gene drift. (pangaea)
which would explain the “God”‘s diversity,. as in,, at one time we had
a ‘god’ influence (over lapping ideology),, then the separation
(individual interpretation) over time without ‘god’ direction..
would also explain “Babel” (tower of babel),, we started with One
language, but with drift an separation, we get different languages..

I brought it up because it takes many thousands of years for environments to cause an evolutionary change
that breeds true even after they change their environment. The Africa area was named as the birth place of
man and it spread from there while the continents separated causing huge changes in the environments they
lived in. We adapt and learn to live in those until we change to fit them. Take anyone that lives in a warm climate
and have them visit in a cooler area and see how they react. I’m not just talking about skin color pearl divers
can hold their breath for over 10 mins in deep dives, Eskomo children can play in the snow naked, and so on.

One more thing, what if the world existed as a complete ecosystem, and the
Humans were colonists around the time where the Missing Link was supposed to
be, and eventually became the dominant species? No need to fake the fossil
              record, then.

              • me
                July 18, 2022, 08:19 | #

I kinda fail to see the “missing link”. There’s loads of fossils of apelike Hominids
(or Humanoid apes if you prefer).
                For example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chimpanzee%E2%80%93human_last_common_ancestor

I mentioned the dinosaurs because there’s plenty evidence pointing to our birds
                being their direct descendants.
(In fact, modern birds are probably closer related to a certain type of dino than
that type of dino to other types; also they’ve been around for like 170 million years
and “died out” 65 million years ago …)

And there’s plenty of DNA shared between modern birds and mammals (even us).
We’re even compatible enough to share some of our diseases (like the flu).

But at the end of the day it’s your universe. You could always say that the whole
ecosystem had been replaced during Terraforming (as you suggested); you could
even claim that all the nice theories and timings of our paleontologists and even
geologists are completely off, because scientists did know about the whole
Terrforming thingy and frankly didn’t expect something like that.

Or you could even ignore the whole fossil-and-DNA issue all together, of course.

I prefer to remain consistent with the existing story line, and have the Humans
transported to Earth as a colony which was then lost track of by the other
species until the Dragons got involved.
If they were transported around the time of the missing link, that would explain
the lack of a fossil record of earlier Homo Sapiens.

sooo.. 300,000 years ago (first Homosapien),. the dragons arrived
on the terraforming ship Atlantis, seeded 7 or 8 city states (god
influence).. the left to watch what happens..
AND since it was a “Goldilocks” planet only a little
                    ‘terraforming’ was required.

Not HomSap. More likely Homo Heidelbergensis or early Neanderthals.

Maybe Earth had indigenous parallelly developed Hominids who were
replaced by us (immigrants) some 70 000 or even just 10 000 years ago?

hence why homosap.. no ‘direct’ link (missing link)..
and,,, would give a basis for the ‘atlantis myth’..

The “missing link” hasn’t been found because the place they came from is either not been found
yet or it’s on the bottom of the sea now. I doubt it very much there was any one single species
that ended up as us, as with any evolution it’s small changes over thousands of years until successful
change is found and it doesn’t stop there. Take that fish they found thought to be extinct for millions
of years and yet they found it living and well. That is the best example of stagnation I can think of.

It would be so cool if just one more person would leave a comment to set the record at 50 comments!
