So it looks like we will see a bit more of King Garion and Big Red locking horns
over controversial matters in the future.
That answers a few questions;
Would Captain Kev Lan comply voluntarily or be forced to.
What he would do about ship security.
Would the Cats keep them in a controlled environment so they never met a Terran.
The remaining questions are
Will they find out how closely the Catian and Terran are integrated
Will they realize the Terrans come from a system they believe belongs to the Dragons.
Will the Cats attempt to bypass the ship seal (and steal as much information as they can.)
Will they find out how many worlds the Cats are trading with
Will they find out they are part of the Wolf Empire
Not sure Kev Ian’s compliance was all that voluntary. I figure he is smart
enough to bow to the inevitable. I think that the Cats will raid the ships’
computers for whatever intel they wish. I, for one, would not really
characterize it as theft. I doubt Kev Ian really registered what Sgt.
McKennon said about being Terran. For him the word would be meaningless
so he probably didn’t really “hear” it. I would also be surprised if Kev Ian
and his crew learn much of anything about the Cats, the Terrans or the
Wolf Empire. I would also be surprised if the Horned Folk learn anything
the Cats don’t want them to learn.
He was smart enough to know he would be buttered toast if he tried
anything against the fleet or any of the Empire’s assets I sort of
think the Cats will avoid raiding the ships data if Horned ones
have a lick of common sense they won’t have to unlike the core
humans have shown. Prideful and slow to admit their mistakes…
sounds like a bit of the USA’s politicians of late.
I was meaning ‘voluntary’ in the sense that, given the situation,
Kev Lan thought it prudent to obey instructions without objecting.
As for the computer data. will the Cats gain sufficient info (if successful)
given they already have captured a sister ship (Ulroth’s Dream) intact.
I think the Cats would need some sort of indication Moran’s Hope
has significant additional information to make such a move worthwhile.
At present Kev Lan probably think the Terrans are a minor faction of the
humans they know about but if his crew are allowed enough freedom
when they are on the surface they are likely to see how well they are
integrated with the Cats and begin to wonder – especially if they find
out the Cats are trading with Earth
(which they think is controlled by Dragons)
Bill,
Hark back a few episodes. As I remember it, the Horned Race have already
lost a few ships to the “Terran’s” and the Cat’s without there knowledge.
This, as I reread the entire episode, means all of the Horned Race ships
technical and other knowledge would have already been sent through the
Cat’s wormhole, as I understand it.
As would a status report from the “Ambassador” as to his movements and
discovery’s, particularly any information that is intelligence related
about the Core Worlds.
So I would take a wild guess and suggest that their presence, or
somebody similar from the Core World, was expected.
Therefore, it stand’s to reason that the Horned Race mission’s,
such as they are, would be well understood by the Cat’s and the
Terran’s.
Given the the Horned Race would as yet, be entirely unaware of
the fact that they are a known entity, at this time, anyway,
they are in for an interesting time.
Also, given that this is now a blind probe by the Core Worlds agents,
this would be a perfect time to deploy the old disinformation
intelligence monkeys.
Such as letting it be known that this is one of the Smaller Space
Stations and the local military fleet is at best, a “anti Piracy
deterrent and Border Law Enforcement patrol”, as opposed to any
detachment from a Task Force.
Unfortunately for the Core Worlds agents, they do not yet know
any better, as they clearly don’t have any formal intelligence.
As for any information leakage via the Core World Humans, that
would only support the the Cat’s and the Terran’s mischief and
misinformation campaign.
Particularly in light of the fact that the Cat’s, with “Terran”
Wolf Empire aid, assisted in the Civil war against the Core World
“Human” Empire.
As for the Core World eventually finding out that the Dragons
coexist with the Wolf Empire, that doesn’t actually negate
anything, as there is no formal treaty at this time with the
Dragons and the Wolf Empire, that I know of.
This means that any race that invades Dragon space risks war
with the Dragon’s, as well as the Wolf Empire, as two separate
and distinct forces.
The Core Worlds or other invaders would also have to explain
to the Dragons why they are infringing the current treaty.
As for why the Wolf Empire failed to get a mention, that’s simple,
they weren’t a fierce, advanced, Space Faring Race when the treaty
was signed.
Also, just how big is Dragon space?
How many other evolving civilizations live in it’s Domain?
Lastly, what is the actual Dragon position on emerging Non Dragon
races in it’s Domain that at best, don’t threaten them, and at
worse, benefit them in the median and long term?
Bearing in mind that any native Advanced Space Faring race in
the Dragon domain would have a vested interest in preserving
the current Status Quo, and their Dragon Overlords, such as
they are, and the Benefits that flow from the Dragons currently
benign rule.
I am interested in what my readers will say to address your points.
There is one misconception which I have seen repeated in the comments
which I must address, however.
The Humans are not a part of the Core worlds, nor, for that matter, of the
Fringe. They are effectively classed as “To be ignored”. While they have
an embassy on Xanadu, since they are one of the original diaspora races,
none of the other species pay much attention to them, which the Human
Ambassador very much resents. Mostly because of his wife, who is a very
social person and does not enjoy the social isolation. But they both see the
arrival of the Cats as changing that for the better.
In essence, Ambassador Mitchell loves his wife, and is about to see her
become much happier as her social status and activities improve. Oh, the
dinners and parties they are about to experience!
So in other words, Ambassador Mitchell ISN’T trying to pull a fast one on the Catians,
but is instead, trying to ride their coat tails to a better life… Interesting…
oh… OH.. this changes so much.!!
so, is she in the know about Cats, an what she knows rubs off on him.??
and i’m guessing , amb is hoping that him backing /vetting newbies gets
them a “new look”,. an at least more casual notice..
That wasn’t the impression I got thanks I was assuming the humans were a bigger part of the core rulers
that does change a few things and why Michell was trying to hard to woo the Ambassador.
If that’s the case then things are going to get very interesting once the truth comes out about the Empire!
The horned ones are the first of the major players then?
yes,. i like your assessment.!
except for out right lie,.. yes yes pad the numbers.
but never stuff they will never have. (death star)
and definitely no specifics.! (fleets, locations, or size of any thing..)
IE: “dreadnoughts? oh you mean your armed patrol vessels.”
or ” This? this is a very old surplus cast off.)
The Soviets spent a decade disproving a 1970’s USA technological advantage.
The resources required to disprove that the USA had superior weapons guidance in their nuclear missiles, tied up some of the best and brightest Soviet minds at the time, as well as a great deal of Soviet resource and Soviet State wealth.
That meant that other, more important Soviet projects failed to proceed, thus costing the Soviets a lost decade of advancement and development.
After all, why build more and bigger bombs, if a medium sized, or smaller, US Nuclear weapon could be deployed to the front lawn of the Kremlin, with great accuracy?
This at the time when getting a Nuclear weapon on target, other than one dropped by a Nuclear enabled Bomber was a “Best Guess” and “Good Luck with that” exercise..
I would point out the Soviet Tsar Bomba was so big and heavy, that it had to be loaded aboard a very large freight train and required it’s own logistics team.
Pretty threatening that.
The then Soviet empire Build the worlds biggest and most powerful Nuclear device. Pity they couldn’t get it outside of Russia. That’s a big Ooops.
Formerly professional speaking, never ever discount the art of Intelligence disinformation. Particularly Political and Militarily oriented intelligence.
More so when it’s State or Nation based and directed towards those who you want to BS to, big time.
Always also remember, the bigger the Lie, the more likely it’s going to be believed.
As for proving the Wolf Empire don’t have two fully functional Death Stars, and three more under construction, and the Wolf Empire Grand fleet and the Catians are patrolling the out reaches of that space, wherever that space actually is, PROVE IT.
That shouldn’t take the Core World more than a few years to disprove. While the Core Worlds doing that, what else are that actually missing?
As Trump previously pointed out, it’s only going to cost EACH NATO Nation state around 4% of their GROSS National Product to empower a Mob of NATO Boy scouts to guard their own Borders.
What’s it going to cost the Core Worlds to disprove that particular lie?
Also, how long is it going to remain just BS?
Current USA tactical guidance systems can now set a nuclear weapon down on your Back lawn, as opposed to somewhere in your State. All that was needed was to buy time.
Who knew the USA would actually wind up doing what they had actually lied about?
And by set down, I mean flatten everything within a mile of your back yard, in a big ball of flame.
I would refer you to my old Army promotional subject material. In particular, The Art of War, the Ancient Chinese military treatise by Sun Tzu.
The outright lie is both a Diplomatic and Military necessity.
Couched in appropriate terms, and denied as MAYBE even existing, but not confirmed, either way.
In summary, as attributed to Sun Tzu, always keep the enemy busy, just not productivity so, and keep out of their way when they are making serious errors, or even just looking like they will.
Good idea King Garion not only will he get the flip side of his decisions but it will cut back on her public rants
against the government’s actions and she’s getting the attention she craves while maybe giving insights the
King may miss.
I think that’s the plan to explain the difference between the Terrans and the core Humans plus go into greater
detail of the Wolf/Dragon Empire. I kinda doubt they will try to steal any data because of the hope they will
give it freely once things are settled they did after all force them to land and clear the ships AND double-seal
them so no one can run off half-cocked and send a mayday after all the Wolf Empire has tried to avoid killing
ships and crews as much as possible. As far as any of the horned one’s go I think they will learn it all in time
IF they don’t become aggressive during the talks if they do I’m sure they will be sent back with a warning
and maybe a “boot to the head”? (Slow-mo shot of an actual boot spinning in the air and smacking Kev Ian’s
face) LOL

King Garion may get information, opinion, and advice from many sources, as he pleases.
But the ultimate decision is his, and his alone.
He cannot blame anyone else for what happens.

about the problems they cause is a bad leader. And one that doesn’t accept responsibility for their
decisions by blaming other’s is doomed to fail history shows that all too well. This story line proves
that King Garion understands that.
I’ve been enjoying the comments, lately. Thanks, all.
There is a method to King Garion’s madness.
So it looks like we will see a bit more of King Garion and Big Red locking horns
