Seems a rather random assortment King Garion is selecting.
As the trial and appeals have all been done
he doesn’t need a jury so I wonder where this is going.
Maxim number (whatever); Any plan never lasts longer than
first contact with the enemy!
The ‘goblins’ are headed for several surprises
on all fronts.
not so random,, he did pick a few (janice & red) that are against..
he (Garion) might even go . “This is my decision.!’ ‘ they have filed
an appeal, (“which has been rejected by all three court of appeals)
now give me a “Good and reasonable” reason to appeal..”
Sound like King Garion is calling in all the leaders in his kingdom
to hear the result I don’t remember those murders they speak of but
it must of been a huge deal!
These goblins are in for a real shock if they think they still have
the fringe in their pocket I think the cat’s about to get out of the
bag (pun intended lol) I figured the facts of the changes made by the
Catians wasn’t going to stay hidden much longer I just hope they are
ready. I feel they have been working to this point and getting onto
the counsel would result in major power shifts throughout the known
planets. The Wolf/Dragon Empire is about to be known as an
interplanetary empire! Now if only they can get everyone to
understand they aren’t the dragon’s empire lol.
same low life… PC just run into problem ,
of forgetting the named used a month ago…
..on the spot.. only if caught in the act..
and immediately after the trial, regardless
of health,, (oh he fainted,, now we have to
wait till he is all better,.. NO, now.)
Did TrigglyPuff grow up to become PROFESSOR (of what?) TrigglyPuff?
This Professor reminds me of the protestor that glued herself, naked,
to an office building glass door. (I tried to find the strip, but
wasn’t able to) Of course, I may be doing to this fine lady what I
tell everyone else NOT to do, don’t judge by appearances. She may be
as fine a woman as I would be pleased to meet, greet, and hold
discourse with. So I will withhold further comments until actions
show her personality. And if necessary, I will apologize.

Interesting that you have a similar pose for both opening
panels, Corpulant Crimson facing off against someone.
So, that was their squadron they took out?
Now Palas’ play makes sense. They did capture those ships with their
computers intact so they know who sent them. Won’t they be surprised
when everyone votes with them on the Caitian’s being a separate
species but the Fringe Worlds and the Humans against them about the
Caitians not getting their own seat.
So this is a trap, a rather big one.
More interestingly, they already feel the squeeze because of one
overdue shipment of metals? They are even less prepared for a conflict
than the Empire thought. It makes me wonder. Do they even have the
shipyards to compete with the Empire? Not to mention the question if
they have the technology. And even then, the Empire has probably more
people ready and able for a conflict than the Core Worlds.
Even if takes time to train them.
But more importantly, if they do throw out the mutual defense treaty?
It’s quite possible that the Core Worlds will be in a resource war
against each other. If the Empire can defend the access to the Fringe
Worlds, it is only a question of time who hits on the idea first. A
big power because they have need of the materials or a weak one as a
preemptive strike.
There is of course a third option. Become part of the Empire.
I just love the possible scenarios.
I am less certain that the humans (Mitchell) will vote with the fringe worlds. It feels like
this might be the double-cross he is plotting, and with his wife here he might be willing
to not be able to go home again, for sufficient compensation. Since he knows about
Catia and the Empire, he knows about Lamia’s defeat, and that he has no more real
authority to represent all humans, but he also knows any response from his (former?)
superiors in Lamia will have to come through Catia or through the weeks-long back
door. He may be figuring on being long gone by then, after specifically helping set up
the situation where Catia is not protected by the treaty. This may be corruption, or it
may be revenge. It also feels like his wife may not be in on this plan.
That is also a possibility.
But in the grand scheme it really doesn’t matter. More important is
the secret wormhole route that does not go through Catia or Dogusia.
Both as well as Earth will have protection enough. But that route
could hurt the other members and allies of the Empire in the Fringe.
It mostly comes down on how many ships have the Core World available,
their technological standards and the readiness of their crews.
There is so much going on, we’ll have to see.
Stupid keyboards never register every key I hit (that sounds like my
fault, not the keyboards – and it is but I can still whine about it!)
And I do not always pick up every time it happens hence the missing
T in my user name of my last two posts.
Mitchell’s reaction depends mainly on where his loyalties lie and his
personal beliefs. While I think that is with the core worlds and old
school Lamia I could easily be wrong. He could have started out that
way but contact with other races, especially the new races, have
broadened his outlook and he is genuinely more
sympathetic to the fringe worlds.
A few things to remember;
We think we know a few critical things the core doesn’t, but we
don’t know how much the core actually knows about the Dragon/Wolf
empire. Ambassador Palas knows a few things we don’t – such as the
details of the common wormholes, the flight times between them, and
the size and distribution of the Wolf/Dragon star fleet.
I think only Earth know that is NOT the home world of the Dragons
and there is probably at least one unknown wormhole in the Sol
system leading to an unknown number of other stars; including the
true home world of the Dragons (which could be another multiple
star system empire) At this point Ambassador Palas is expecting to
have six days (plus however long it took the core to realize it
needed to take action). However the ‘Goblins’ acting preemptively
has probably negated that (unless he predicted this reaction and
the six days is the flight time from the ‘Goblins’ to Catia.
Ambassador Palas is expecting to win the trade war before the core
throws out the mutual protection treaty. If they do get admitted to
council, where does that leave the ‘Goblins’ preemptive strike? (I
think the attempted trade agreement on the terms they expect to get
will not go well and end in a forced settlement that will not go
well for the ‘Goblins’).
Yeah I believe there is a much greater system of wormholes than is
currently known but that is a plot line for later. The only limitations
on the size and scope of the fleet is the staggering logistical issues
of both manpower and materials that’s why capturing opposing
ships helps to speed things up.
Don’t forget the control for the grav drives is very tricky and few can
do it safely so few of the repurposed ships will have them however the
“missiles” are just rods with maxed out grav drives so they are
undetectable and deliver huge amounts of kinetic energy on impact (a
percent of light speed could punch a hole through a planet) I’ve
watched cats play with mice, rats, and chipmunks with just teeth and
claws these guys have MUCH better toys lol.
As in real life a “trade war” rarely ends without a real one several
true carriers loaded with fighters would mince any fleet that tries
to attack and the core doesn’t understand that… yet…
Oh! tactical idea here, use small asteroids as fake carriers for a
blockade and when the attackers fire have the fighters abandon it and
stealth off so the opposing fleet think they had a kill and the
“debris” can maneuver to disable/kill. And still have the support of
their carriers in hiding!
I for one love the idea,, leave the fighters in stealth.. add alot
of drones as debris,. have them mimic other ships, missiles,
and debris..
oh and add a explosive,. so it cant be “captured tech”..
Don’t forget the Empire has true AI on those fighters they themselves
are drones plus a simple drone with a single missile could be mass
produced these could be seeded by a wormhole with only a ion thruster
and a solar panel if a signal isn’t sent the drone activates and
targets the ship(s). A simple and effective blockade without needed
a huge amount of manpower to operate!
A lifetime of video gaming has taught me
a few tactical planning skills lol.
we had the discussion of I.F.F. what if a friendly comes through
in a captured ship, or a new race exploring, and don’t know. ECT.
IF, you add a weapon, it has to have a sentient control behind it.
IE: 1 AI fighter for every 12 drones..

Wormholes register on mass detectors, which are an offshoot of Grav technology.
When I came up with the idea, I hadn’t considered what an advantage that would
give over other species, since their method of finding wormholes is to fire what is
basically a large shotgun into space, and see if any pellets disappear. I’m afraid
that I’ve made the Empire too powerful for a good story.
detected when in use, or just recently.. and they only open when you
get within ‘X’ range,. so you don’t have both sides open at once,
and ships collide. hence the standoff till ship is thru order..
I wouldn’t be surprised that mass detectors were easier to invent than
the grav drives and just because you have them OP right now doesn’t
mean they will stay that way. Although they still don’t have a practical
FTL drive that would make then hugely OP and permit them to discover
races that don’t have access to a wormhole plus if they have a problem
planet they could travel there without the transition lag issue
another big boost.
over powered, right now.! the Romans had the Legion.
the Mongols had the Kahn. the British had the Sea Power.
the US had the bomb.. and where are they now.??
the Empire would be over powerful IF they subjugated
everyone right now,. but they are using sed power wisely.
PC, regarding panel 2, I can’t speak for the other guys, butt, I for
one, could’ve stood to wait a while longer before getting another
view of the Crimson Corpulence’s titties. That is one NASTY looking
rack! Nobody (except a condemned criminal) ought to have to look at
those things. Although having CC flash em at old Mitch just before
the trap door drops would, IMHO, be a fitting sendoff.
LOL cruel but yeah Big Red’s deal is she thinks that she’s beautiful
and the whole world has to agree with her they call her type a
“Karen” if I understand it right a self-involved, self-important
person that feels that all should thank the good lord for her
beauty, wisdom, and presence. I have a relative like that not even
her EX wants to have anything to do with her lol.

I thought so but in the strip http://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-857/
it’s spelt “Rider” but in http://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-927/
it’s spelt “Ryder” so I wasn’t sure if it was the same low-life that
should of been killed on the spot… Granted this will show other
low-life types they need to leave or die.

She is the same glue lady.
Oh I remember her.
So….remains to be seen, did she reform her skanky ways?
Or is she still a skank?
(thx for finding that strip, I was looking too far back/early)
