It is likely to be a literal pain for young people who’ve never been challenged but for the ones who make it through discipline is a solid foundation for real self-esteem. They’ll definitely be more likely to take care of things in which they have invested time, sweat and (likely literally) blood. Sad to say too few Black children are either disciplined OR challenged these days. But then neither are a whole lot of White, Brown, Yellow, or other children. At least not in school. Definitely going to be some community pushback. Hope ourfriendly neighborhood sheriff stays close. This could get “interesting”!
that.. that is why i like the Japanese school system,,. required uniform, discipline, and You are required to up keep school.. ‘ janitor is more maintenance..’
and me personally: “for PC’s” school is public, you are not required to be here,, if YOU don’t like it leave the Empire,. because no one will hire you if you quit school.!
“On piracy patrol” Well, at least they’re honest about their intentions lol. If they recognize the CP then they’re aware of its origin. I suspect their thinking is that the CP is a pussy cat. If they knew anything about cats they’d know they have teeth AND claws and are completely willing to use them.
Tune in next time for the next exciting episode titled “Pirates’ Comeuppance”. Same bat time; same bat channel.
hehe,, CP: “look belly,, come rub it :)”.. pp: “duh. ok..” gits in to rub belly.. CP: “ALL TEETH AND CLAWS FIRE.!” bawahahaha…
.. snerk .. so now they (CP) call the weapons, guns = teeth, and the missiles = claws…
“can’t read… requires to much info to sign in…”
Not sure what’s going on because it never asked me to sign in for anything. Possibly there is some sort ,ax number of articles allowed. Anyhow basically the thing is cancelled because it is a solution without an existing problem. I know at one time it was talked about that ships could 3D print rounds as needed. Anyhow no buck rogers guns for the Navy now.
In principle, railguns are a great idea. I guess in practice there are problems. But picture a smart warhead with little steering fins, that can be fired from literally 10 or 20 miles away, and hits so hard it doesn’t even really need explosives. That’s what a railgun would shoot. If a ship had a cargo hold full of those, and the cargo hold somehow got a missile inside it, those warheads would be pretty inert. And that cargo hold can hold more of these just-a-warhead projectiles than it could hold of missiles or bombs.
10 to 20 miles? Yeah… I’ve been hearing ranges significantly larger than that. Of course, add an EMP hardened version of the Excalibur guidance package, and off bore shots really… Interesting?
ohh.. looking at the numbers. https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/navy-ships/a23738/uss-zumwalt-ammo-too-expensive/ .. an the budget for 2020 (7k) .. i know for a fact they fired both land guns at least 5 times in 2020..
what it looks like is the “media” shot the military in the foot again.! IE: the military spent billions developing a new “classified” weapon.. an the media gave it away for free.! so now china has the “weapon”..
so it looks like the military is mothballing it ,, while they work on the new left handed spanner..
and back to price.. even whining at $200,000 per round,.! they are talking about ripping out the 20 mill system an replacing it with missiles at a 30 million refit cost , and 1.5 mill to 2 mill per missile.. o.0
Sometimes, “not balling” A project simply means that the program objectives have been met, but there are tweaks they want to make for the “black projects” production run of the system. Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised.if they.started suspending the round in the chamber, magnetically, prior to the firing pulse, abandoning the aluminum sabotage altogether. (It’s not at all improbable that the debit may have been what was damaging the barrel interior in the first place)
I’m always suspicious of per-item costs in the mainstream media. If someone doesn’t like a government program (e.g. they don’t like anything military) then they do their best to find every real or imaginary cost and add them all up, then divide by the smallest possible number, and say “this is way too expensive!” (As an example, the F-35 is way too expensive if you don’t consider the R&D to be a sunk cost, and add R&D onto the actual fly-away cost of one F-35.) So, is that $200K per round cost real or not? We are talking about a new technology, whose R&D hasn’t been amortized yet. It’s an inert warhead with a guidance computer and steering fins… no onboard bomb, no onboard propulsion. It ought to be less expensive than missiles. (If it works right.)
I found this article listing missile prices. Some missiles are expensive, some are crazy expensive, and some are only about the cost of a car. It seems like $200K per round is hardly unprecedented.
But my guess is that the Navy is being told “you aren’t getting everything you want, and if you want more ships you had better cut other things.” And the Navy needs more ships. Back during the Obama administration there was this idea of the “peacetime dividend” and we could cut spending on defense because the world was now safe. The Navy really needs more ships to come back from that. And some of the Navy’s new ships (the “littoral combat ships”) were badly designed and shouldn’t even count as ships.
To be honest, I STRONGLY suspect that a lot of the prices that are quoted for major weapon systems and equipment are highly inflated to cover black project equipment that the government doesn’t want the public to know about yet. Remember the F-117 “Stealth Fighter”? First, it wasn’t a fighter, but a “bomber” and e ven then, it had a ridiculously small payload, but a “weapons bay” just about perfect for espionage equipment.
In other words, it was made to augment the SR-71’s high altitude replacement for reconnaissance. I have a pretty good idea what it is, but I’m not going to state it for security reasons.
Overall, I am pretty much convinced that there are numerous black projects that are being funded, indirectly, by, “over inflated weapon systems costs”. But I also suspect that there are those in congress who see replacement munitions and parts costs as a visible “cost savings” that they can release to the public, while starving none military of materials needed to fight a conventional war. Which means, the next war we have to fight, may require that we use weapons that we really don’t want to use…
Ohhhh….A jarhead Drill. Better and better. And making the students do all the cleanup, renovation, and repair work. Learn, and a work ethic, too?

They aren’t called Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children for nothing.
“Stand to”. Legit? Or a ruse?

OT (but interesting): The U.S. Navy is cancelling its rail gun project. No sci-fi weapons at least in the near future. Read about it here: https://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a36633707/us-navy-railgun-is-finally-dead/

also : besides the rail shooting itself to pieces,,,. the ammo manufacture keeps wanting more an more to make ammo

And just after being told we would lose a naval engagement to defend Taiwan against a ChiCom invasion. This is not good news.
ok .. the point was missed.. they are “mothballing it” openly.! But,,, still spending that amount “elsewhere”…
