Oh, the Empire is buying something, all right.
An image. Good will. Intelligence. Cheap at the price.
And a narrative to amplify what the Foxes have already read in copies
      of the Little Green Book.
The goal is to bring the Foxes into the Empire, and to demonstrate how
an Imperial Kingdom is supposed to act with other states.
      Steel-hard compassion, so to speak.

That makes sense to me. The Empire has advanced sufficiently to reach the core worlds.
It makes good diplomatic sense to treat the first visitor from the Core Worlds with respect
        and good grace.
And show off the infrastructure, since there seems to be some considerable data gaps.
And data gaps cause unfortunate wars.

Core worlds? They have been isolated from the rest of the worlds.
This is all the Galactic counsel, and like the core, they are cocky
and demanding. The beetle-looking guys are the only ones that
have a chance against the Empire, but I suspect they don’t expect
it to be that hard to deal with, as did the core. They assume too
          much. BAD idea.

HA! Nail that bitch to the floor pal! making me proud here.
Pity it couldn’t be me, I could do with a chew-toy about now…

I picture her sounding a bit like Reese Witherspoon, during
her “Legally Blonde” movies. All bubbly and chipper, unless
you piss her off. The message is simple, be nice to us and
we’ll do the same, so I think this visit will be the last nail so to speak.

I think carrot-top was wanting to bust this guy anyway,
he was just a bit too willing to jack his jaw. Granted,
10 dragons is 10 dragons, but I think Red would have
      done it on principle anyway.

I’ve contacted family, our eldest is coming out tomorrow.
it might be his last chance. My youngest called off work
so I have extra help, I can’t keep a calm face around her
right now. I’m trying to distract myself, mindless doings.

Thanks guys, I knew it was coming, but it’s happening
so fast. The nurse comes daily, that’s a clear sign she
doesn’t have long. I’ve had to start feeding her, she can’t
bring it to her mouth successfully anymore. I’m about
to clear the rest of the room, hopefully the hospital bed
        comes quickly.

I passed the Driver’s license vision exam because one eye was corrected to 20/40.
the other was worse. For a regular license, that’s good enough.
I had to give up my CDL, though, as that requires both eyes.
No big deal, I turn 71 tomorrow, it’s not like I’d ever use a CDL again, anyway.
I bought groceries today, and it almost killed me. The not-cold stuff is still in
the minivan, the cold and frozen I got inside before I collapsed in my chair.
After an hour of rest, I got it all put away. I’ll get the not-cold unloaded when
outside cools off tonight. 97degF outside. This old-age stuff sucks.
I’m going to hire a teenager to do it all next time.

I can’t help but wonder, my having cataract lens,

Perhaps have your optometrist give you a checkup before hand.
You would have better Knowledge of what to expect.
When I had my stroke the DR. told me that if an Optometrist
said I was okay, he wouldn’t argue. It may work for you as well.

I worry because I can’t read closer than 10 feet, and at
500 feet even street signs are a bit blurry. I don’t currently
have an Optometrist, when we moved here I couldn’t
see the point of driving 45 minutes one way. I might just
go to Walmart, they are the cheapest. I’d be nice to have
tri-focals, covering all ranges would be handy. Maybe after
the problems of my wife passing are taken care of.

In Georgia, anyone over 65 can get an optometrist to fill out a form
            and renew by mail.
But… WalMart is a crapshoot. Kind of a “Get what you pay for” thing.
Granted, they got one eye to pass the DMV test, but with my eyes I
            want better than “Good Enough”.

True, I’ve had mixed results with them, and they don’t do the diabetic eye exam.
I don’t have part-C so it’d be out-of-pocket anyway. If I got an advantage plan
it would be included, but I’ll be damned than let someone that’s read a diagnosis
manuel, rather than get a degree, decide my fate.

A friend of mine went to renew his license shortly before his
76th birthday and failed the vision test. Two different DMV
offices. They gave him from April 6th to May 12th, but after
that he wouldn’t be able to drive. But it was enough time.
He got a new set of glasses that let him pass the tests, and
then got an appointment for cataract surgery on the left eye,
followed a couple of weeks later on the right.

If he had had the eyes checked earlier, he might not have
        been up against the deadline.

If you’re not due till next year, it sounds like you have
time to put it off for now.

My apologies. There will be no Wednesday update.
It’s my 71st birthday, I honestly never thought I’d make it this far.
Yesterday was a bitch, the labor and stress have continued into today,

I was doing some reading/watching up on advances in 3D printing,
seems the big brains tried something, they took a mosquitoes beak,
coated it in resin, and used it as a nozzle for some very fine printing.
They printed up some heart muscle fibers that actually worked with
stimuli. So the idea of 3D printing body parts from an idea to a very
real possibility. Can you imagine, your heart goes bad, they gather
some of your blood, clone enough to use it as a printing media to
print you a new one, no risk of rejection…
    Now picture the costs…. O-O

    • Scarsdale
      June 26, 2026, 02:21 | # | Reply

I forgot the stem cells, but can you picture sometime
in the near future, they decide to try their hand at printing
android bodies? An AI brain controlling a human clone body?
I’m getting both chills and shades of Fallout 4 vibes, the sim
people they were creating, not able to tell a between a
human and a sim? Order 66 pops into my head with that…

    • rob stanley
      June 26, 2026, 10:44 | # | Reply

my understanding,,, as to why “Cloning the whole” body is illegal.!
is that it Can be done. but we are the sum of our experiences growing up,.
so,, IF you clone a new you, at some point it becomes ‘sentient”…
now the “parts”.. it takes time to “Grow” a new part. so, growing a
new part that you can use now is not feasible. IE: they can grow a
new heart in six months,. but the fast growing doesn’t stop,
so the heart dies in five years…

      • Scarsdale
        June 26, 2026, 19:20 | # | Reply

Technically, it’s not cloning a person, but cloning body parts in a lab.
The printing is done in an oxygenated solution with nutrients. So
they are living cells. The idea is the blood/tissue samples determined
the DNA of the host to the stem cells. The idea isn’t new, the fact they
got partial results are. I’ll have to find the video again. Before, the nozzle
was too large so any successful print wouldn’t hold up. It would become
a blob of cells that would die. In the video they showed what looked
like the interior of a heart being printed.

        • rob stanley

my data is old.! IF they could ‘print’ a new heart (or any other part)
in days (week),. it would be a far cry from 6 to 10 months and dieing
          a couple years later.!!!
