Ah well, you did stir them up Katrina, I doubt they understand
the mistake that was made. I suspect the Zealots have been
doing these attacks off and on for a while however.
Ah so Gupta was misreading the events. Understandable. But
I think he was jumping to conclusions there. It’s not like they
just walked up and said “Howdy!” Any scout with half a brain
wouldn’t do that, those boys were pushed into it.
Alternatively: Be careful what you ask. You might not like the answer. 😉
If you only ask questions to which you know the answers you might never learn something new.
My grandfather had a saying: any day you learn something new no matter how small it may be isn’t a wasted day.
Those guys, totally by accident, sped up the op by days if not weeks.
and Col. Gupta is complaining? Ah well, sometimes the brass needs
a fresh polish on their humility…
And give the men something to snicker about in the PX 😉
You’d think after 36 years my son would learn to pay
attention to my hands. He walked up, said hi, so I
asked him “Did you know the single most dangerous
thing to do around a bull during breeding time?”
He said “(sighs) What?”
I put my hands to my cheeks, tilted my head, and in
a feminine voice “Oh, Oniiechan!” To which he tried to
cuff my head, I ducked and nut-checked him HEH!
I got that vibe too, but if you think about it, each one
of those would fit inside of my case. He said it was his
AI setup, along the same lines as Chat GPT. There’s
nothing fancy as far as GPU, it’s all CPU and Ram. a
true power-house there. He was doing this way to show
it off, I can’t see any other reason to mount it on plywood.
Next thing he does might be a cooler filled with dry ice
and a looped coil of copper tubing. It would get that CPU
running at 40F. Note the clear tubing, it’s more likely to fail.
I used a KVM switch myself when I was running the
WoW server.
I seen that video, I could see it if I was running a major server acting as a
provider for hundreds of clients. Part of that fluid’s cooling it that it boils
away. Unless there was a way to safely collect and condense the boil-off,
it’s not worth it for a daily user. At the cost of the stuff, that Guy’s AI
setup with a single pump feeding the entire setup makes it more attractive.
I had a computer back in the Pentium days with liquid cooling using
auto antifreeze (25%) with a 5-gallon jug in a small chest freezer.
At such a low temperature, condensation dripped onto my motherboard
and shorted it out.
Anything that keeps the CPU below 70C is good enough.
You don’t want RAM and SSDs running too cool, it can damage them.
I just cool the controller chips and leave the memory alone.
I know, I watched a video years ago, a man had made a
heat sink that was the size of a coffee cup, hallow. Then
he slowly added liquid nitrogen to the cup. It worked
great for about 5 minutes…
That was the issue I had with the mini-fridge idea, that
it would either frost up or start to drip. That nightmare
cooling system that guy was tinkering with did the same
thing, it frosted up, melted, water shorted the CPU. About
the same time my sister was wanting to put a computer
in their garage, I warned her about frost in the cold
winters we had, she dropped it. After I sent that video.
Ideal temp is between 40C and 50C. You want coffee hot,
not “What’s that smell?” hot heh.
Those setups were bad for leaks too, the one I had did that to mine.
I was using Windex for the fluid, as per the instructions. One joint
would leak even after I used silicone on the fitting and used the
special spring claps they suggested.
I had a funny conversation with my wife’s personal care lady.
She had asked how long I had been doing the cooking and
being a caregiver, I thought for a minute and it dawned on
me almost 14 years for my wife, nearly 10 for my father. She
said “damn! You should be a nurse by now!” So take care
of yourself there PC, unless you want “Nurse Scars” to show up…
🙂 😛 🙂 Trust me, I ain’t purrty LOL.
Welp, there goes another childhood (son’s) memory… https://www.youtube.com/shorts/d0NmyTGvUpI
Although, I think I might run screaming if my grand
daughter starts to sing “Let It Go” one more time…
Radicals always shoot first but do they think later?
Poor Col Gupta can’t call anyone out for not following orders.
That’s gotta hurt.
I’m kind of surprised that no readers on Friday asked “What did the Colonel know at the time?”

He needs to learn the lawyer’s advice,
“Never ask a question that you don’t
already know the answer”.

P8, I can totally sympathize with the
Colonel, but I still have to LOL!

Looks like a return to the old days
of computers, when vacuum tubes
and cooling filled an entire warehouse.

GPU’s and CPU’s, there’s at least 3 computers on that wall of wow.
Glad he had the big $$$$$$ to spend on that!

Sorry. serious medical problem.
Next update will be Friday.
I feel like that story about the perfect carriage – I’m wearing out all at once.
Crawling back to bed.
Look after yourself, we can wait.
Get well first

The army has introduced a new method for
chopper assisted lift offs, what do you think?
