Even though I said she signed her death warrant,
I am glad Miss Smith is too smart for Mr. Jones and the Boss.
Matthew here she comes.
Ted and company are on top of things. All is well.
I see a possible new Legion recruit there, among other possibilities.
I hope she knows where all his skeletons are hidden,
among his other nasty secrets.
I believe that our anonymous ‘friend’ just made a bad decision.
If the young lady has been so involved in his daily business as is hinted,
she’ll not just ‘be disappeared’ as he seems to think.
She might come back to hurt him…
Hmm. Panels 2 & 3. I can’t tell if that “Understood” is showing
that she’s tapped in to the boss’ or Mr. Jones’ phone, or if it’s
a second “Understood” from someone who just told her what
was up. Either way, I hope her tradecraft is good enough to
avoid the assassin.
If I was Ms Secretary, I’d have a “dead man switch”,
with multiple copies of all info on Mr Mysterious
and his plans, hidden in too many places to
be all destroyed at once.
The step up from Captain is Commodore, not commander. Modern,
we abolished that rank and it’s Rear Admiral (Lower Half).
Commander is the rank before captain.
Oops, thanks for pointing that out. You’re right.
He’s a Commodore, the Imperial Navy only has three Admiral ranks,
Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Grand Admiral. The Empire is pretty light
on officers, and plans to keep it that way.
Ah, but this isn’t the US Navy, it’s the Imperial Navy.
Ensign, LTjg, LT, Captain, Commander, and we don’t know how many
levels above that. We know Mistrial is Grand Admiral, which
does not come from the US Navy, so it’s reasonable to
assume US Navy ranks did not carry over directly.
Midshipman first, and Commander is before Captain.
I think. Now I’m not sure myself!
Anyway, Admiral is mostly administrative, and Fleet Admiral is combat.
Mistrial is Grand Admiral, she commands everything including Home Fleet.
Ariste is a Fleet Admiral, since she commands First Fleet.
Viktor is Admiral, since he commands all shipyards and resource extraction.
Others command logistics, etc.
Commodores support Admirals.
So far. It’s a bit fluid.
Ah, yes, my memory was correct. (At my age, having
memories get validated is a good thing.) She’s a captain in
episode 1365 (panel 1) & 1390 (panel 3) and a commander
in episode 1442 (panel 4).
After careful magnified inspection, I think they’re two different
shops. Belle’s had a deli next door; this one has a barber shop.
This one has hours on the door; Belle’s didn’t. Belle’s had
lots of writing visible through the window on the facing wall;
this one doesn’t.

Shades of Wilson Fisk. Who do you LEAST want to feel like they
have to turn their coat just to survive?
Battle of the Bunnies. I like that.

There be that, but I think she’d rather stay alive
first. Then, give all that info to Matthew.

Dang it, this was supposed to be a reply to An Oni Mouse.

I was thinking Kingsman, as in super secret spy shopping store.
SSSSShhhh!
Could be going for a change of clothes (disguise)
or (a secret) backdoor escape.
Possibly both.
