I had totally forgot the usable by-products and off-gassing of certain minerals.
But that is a good point. This isn’t about providing jobs, it’s about easy profits,
and I hope clearer heads rise above when they try to drag it through court.
It’s bad ju-ju no matter how you look at it.
And the laughs just keep coming! Pity big red wouldn’t get the Star Trek reference.
I don’t believe they shot him, yet, but I can tell these idiots did not believe the
Empire had a prayer to win to the point of being uber-careless. I think he
stumbled back in fear and fell over. Those huge man-boobs have the same
draw-back that Dolly would complain about heh.
NA nA na na nA NA NA MAN BOOBS!
….. It’s ok, it’s ok, I’m back now… 😛
Strip the ship for data and tech, refit and repaint for the Dogs to use, no
problems, for now 😉
Sounds like Kathy, the ImpNav and the Empire are doing the same
thing that DeBeers did (does?) with the diamonds they mined in
South Africa – keep the vast majority of them off the market,
in order to keep the value up.
Except DeBeers is creating an artificial scarcity in order
to create artificially high prices for their product. The
Navy is simply ensuring that the products of asteroid
mining are sold at a fair price. That produces LOWER
prices whereas completely privatizing asteroid mining
would result in charging whatever the market would
bear. This way would still result in quality employment
while stabilizing the currency. Brilliant idea but entirely
impossible in today’s world.
I’m sure things have changed a bit since they figured out how to
make diamonds, actual clear-ish ones. I’ve seen artificial gem
rings and such the last time I got my wife earrings from Amazon.
At half the cost.
(sadly, she can’t wear them anymore her tremors make it
dangerous to put them in)
Actually, I don’t see any reason why the Navy couldn’t
contract out the actual mining and refining so long as
Quartermaster Corps controls the disposition of the
finished product. They could even contract hauling the
finished products in system. No need for MOS of
asteroid miner or ore refiner. Or interplanetary truck
driver. Such a system would provide civilian jobs while
still allowing the Empire to protect its currency.
did you not read my earlier message.? real world military did that
in the 80’s,. NOW the punishment of ‘painting rocks, then flip an
paint,.’ is now a civy job… and at last look the going rate is
3 times of that off base.!!
i was a driver… near the end of my enlistment,. wen a driving
job came about the civies had first bid.!! (non combat related.)
driving example: after Desert Storm,. off loading tanks,.
i loaded a tank on MY truck,. then sat in the passenger seat,
while some guy (wasn’t allowed to talk to) drove to yard,
and waited while he filled out paper work. then unloaded sed tank.
repeat 7 times…
Who can say the navy isn’t already doing that? Take the Pride,
some are navy trained but the Toby pilots and a fair part of
the crew is locals that joined the crew in her travels. Yes, I
know they aren’t Impnav, but in all the actions and wars we’ve
had, civilian contractors have been involved in logistics and
supply. And in this case, why tie up navy pilots for transport?
Check out the civilian dockworkers in Australia during WWII.
They agreed to unload freighters for a certain wage, then,
when the war supplies were desperately needed,
they went on strike and demanded higher wages.
That can’t happen with the Navy doing it all.
You have the rank, you get the pay, you do the job.
Benefits for the many not the few.
Good job Kathy.
Admiral Brown Pants has been assimilated
and not by the Borg.
Resistance is futile.
Sorry, I left out 7of 9.

To the best of my knowledge nobody ever won a fight
because they underestimated their opponent.
Overestimated them, usually, but never underestimated them…
“I WON’T ALLOW YOU”
And wha’cha gonna do about it,
ya big blubbering crybully?
Oh, I forgot to add in there
“blustering”. My bad.p
Both apply, in order: Blustering => Blubbering.
“Slave! Where’s my brown pants! This armor can’t take anymore!”
(something oozing from the legs)

Quartermaster – yeah that didn’t work in the real world,.

So. any non-MOS non-combat HAS to have a Civilian union rep.!
IF a civiy can do it we have to let & pay them…
