As it progresses,
I keep finding things that I must change in my plans.
Like the coolant reservoir won’t fit where I wanted
to put it. Or tools that I didn’t know I’d need.
Like a set of M3X0.5mm taps… or a 20mm (3/4″) hole saw.
I constantly have to order more stuff, slowing the build.
The GPU cable that came with the power supply is the
wrong one for my graphics card.
The mounting screws that came with my CPU water
block are for an AMD4, not my AMD5.
That’s what I get for buying so many used parts,
and trying to put them in a case that wasn’t designed
for water cooling, I guess.
If I wasn’t already crazy, I’d be there soon.
That reminds me of when I was building them, no matter
how well you planned, there’s always something that changes
everything, and it’s never a simple change! Like Frankintower,
that was a headache! Like trying to cut a 80mm round hole in
plastic with a drywall saw… Or making a ATX mobo fit in
a AT tower…
You’re not “weird” PC, you’re creative. And yes that makes trouble,
but it is ever so satisfying when it all works out and you have your
dream-machine humming away… Or like my mini-fridge idea,
I’d still like to try that… The cables are much smaller and lighter
now, not the snarled mess that it would have been 10 years ago.
To do that I’d have to cut holes and create short cables to span
the gap left from the back of the fridge to the inside Just an inch
or so, just to be able to plug any external devices. Plus have
room for a desiccant tub so nothing frosts up. And put a padlock
so my wife doesn’t put an unfinished soda in to cool it off…
I hear that, I had hundreds of $ in tools,
after years of my son and his buddies
borrowing stuff I have almost no tools.
“lookin’ for my long lost 10mm socket…”
“People say there’s a woooooman to blame…”
“But I know… my kid’s at fault”
😛
P4 huh, so there’s going to be a new landing area? Interesting…
In time there should be one, just a landing/launch area with a
warehouse near by, in every friendly kingdom, not just members.
Not only would that reduce ground transport costs, deliveries
would arrive faster. Anyone working them should expect meeting
members of the other races too, I’d be an insult if someone
freaked out over meeting an P’taro Captain…
“No, that’s not a Raptor, That’s the captain and his mate.”
147 CAPITOL SHIPS. All defensive, sounds like a force to encapsulate
the WH to allow offensive ships to portal in. A simple tactic and totally
dependent on the Empire being blind and dumb…
A single salvo of kitty litter and beam weapons by the fleet will reduce
that flight by at least 50% in the first 30 minutes. By time they figure
that out half of those will be damaged or rendered helpless.
“All we need now is a short victorious war.”
From the looks of it they went in with all offensive assets they
could fix up with that FTL drive.
Considering what we heard about them shifting crews, anything
that remains at home has either no crew at all or is understaffed.
One big intimidation attack and no one gave a thought what
happens if this goes wrong.
Considering the Wolf Empire has only committed here what they
could spare without stripping the defenses of their own systems,
this one battle will probably decide the war.
And positioned as everything is? They’ll not just lose their
attack fleet, but it is likely that the Wolf Empire ends up
getting that FTL drive. What makes that worse is that a carrier
for their small units is faster build and crewed than cruisers
and battleships. Small units they already have enough.
hah, just thought of ‘short war’,.! “Gravitic mine!”
FTL requires the absence of gravity.! put a “Heavily”
shielded grav device in the middle of em at 1g,.
you just rendered FTL moot.
also burning constant fuel to maneuver,
cuz at that close. they are in a grav well.
Just en-globing them and pointing drives at the ships
would have an effect, and a grav bomb would make
a mess of the fleet if it’s made to NOT go “BLIP!”
Imagine a ball, covered with hundreds of grav cannons,
pulling chunks or entire ships to itself, turning the
fleet into a small moon or asteroid…
Not defensive, Scars. All offensive. They thought the Laporidae
system was relatively defenseless, so they showed up with massive
offensive capability, but not so much defensive. They’re about to
get their fleet gutted, as it can’t defend itself very well.
Yeah you’re right. That’s what I get for reading after my bed-time 😛
They put me on a new pill, it’s basically a water pill, but it
forces my kidney to filter out excess sugar and protects the kidney
from damage. It works pretty good, but I have to pee every 2 hours
like clockwork. I’ve tried not drinking, I’ll still have to go,
and I wake up dehydrated.
Worse.
Cotton.
Mouth.
Ever.
I feel you, Scars. After my cath last week the cardiologist
put me on furosemide (lasix) and now I’m so thirsty I’m
drinking easily twice as much per day as before. Good
thing I can stand to drink cheap Walmart sugar free cool-
aide.
P4 reminded me once more that we are living in a Science Fiction world,
we just haven’t realized it yet and are not using the available technology
to it’s full potential and we never will, because it’s not profitable in the
usual way.
I’m not saying we should be building spaceports mind you. Just that we
could do so much more than we do, not caring how much suffering in
the world we could stop.
And not just Third world countries.
Most people want instant profit, that’s why Musk
is unique in building SpaceX and Starship.
He understands it’ll cost a mint, but sees the
long-term benefits of it. Few of us alive today
will see the effects of what he’s doing, but
our kids and grandkids will. Everything PC
talks about in the strip could happen by the
middle of the 21st century. Including the cheap
and easy “flying cars.” 😉
I just watched a Youtuber’s list of space warfare tactics we see in
fiction that make no sense. Among others he said boarding parties
were not really workable anymore even in WW2 because ships
don’t (and really can’t) close. He said even if there were teleporters
of some sort, the immediate response would be to scuttle (think
“self-destruct sequence”) the ship. But, I was thinking that an
overwhelming swarm of dragonflies dropping gas grenades
starting with the bridge and engine room could render anything
short of an AI, hors de combat very quickly. The Empire might
soon have several working FTL ships after this, not just salvage.
this is the Core.! they don’t think like that.
‘self-destruct’ – NO way. you know how much that costs.!!?
also afraid of sabotage,. will not make it easy for them..
they still have ‘boarding parties’,. slave ship was prepared
and trained for it… and will go down to the last man, cuz
the core has your family…
That would apply to the smaller frigates and scout ships,
but I agree with Rob, too much to lose doing that with
capital ships. In the core, people are replaceable, not
assets. The Empire has taken out several heavy-class
ships already, most of the ships with FTL were converted
freighters and moth-balled ships pressed into service. That
alone means they weren’t well defended anyway, and
without support ships or defenses, they are sitting ducks
in a shooting gallery.
Also, Motha has broken the treaty, so they might have
several alien ships join the party. Maybe the Dragons as well?
As far as the dragonfly’s go, having them drop the gas canisters
into the air circulation system would do most of the work fast.
Only the men in armor will be awake, and the grav guns make
short work of those.
I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks. There aren’t enough dragonflies
in-system to take out the entire fleet, and they can’t teleport
2AU, but…
I have an idea.
>147, all capitol ships
>
>power draw o the FTL engines might be too great to use in a smaller ship
Been a while since the Core faced a peer, thinking all they need is to
double down on some heavy Shock & Awe. Instead of a balanced force, with a
couple carriers for the fighters they are about to realize they needed :}
I’m sure they think they can just fly in, blow things up in orbit and
on the ground, and walk away patting themselves on their backs
for showing everyone their “power.” They’re like the cocky street
punk that thinks he’s a bad-ass until he’s in prison and feels
Bubba’s hand clamp down on his shoulder in the shower…
SO? 147 ships. which means they gutted the core.!
pull what admiral Artisy did. one ship drop a god
rod on a major military asset.
just out side the “palace” capital…
then call em up and say “Next is for you.”
“you have 1 minute to surrender,.”
I have little doubt that the Empire can fix
that power issue since the grav drive
MAKE power. This is an all in attempt at
striking fear into the Empire, instead
the core and Motha are giving them
the tech and most likely trashing most
of the fleets the core had…
“Us, afraid of YOU? AHA HA HA HA!”
What is he on about? His figures are way off.
There are more than that many people in America, and many own more than one.
I think I own about eight, myself.
Last I heard it’s closer to 350 mil, and sure,
my son has at least 10 himself, AR and
hand guns. I don’t know how old this video
is, or if he’s just making content, but it
does support the fact that owning a gun
doesn’t make you a killer.
Figures I’ve seen put it at more like 400 mil but the
“more guns in America than all the militaries on the
planet” is undoubtedly correct. It is believed that in
Texas there are 8 guns for every resident. I only have
5 and my wife only has 1 so I’m wondering who has
our other 10!
Why would you need so many guns?
Poland has one of the lowest rate of gun owners in
Europe with approximately 4 guns per 100 citizens
(including both legally owned and illegal).
Both me and my wife have 1 each.
We definitely increase the average in our country 😉
contrary to popular belief, USA was founded on belief that the
“Individual” took care of himself.!
And to do that, had to have what the military had. hence the
“Right to bear arms.”
also “Gun control” is NOT about guns.! it’s about control.
IF it was about ‘weapons’ of murder, then there would be
the same amount of laws on “Hammers” (blunt weapons),.
as they consistently do more deaths,.
as for number – WWII Yamamoto said,
“Behind every blade of grass is a weapon.”
which at time was true. even kids had firearms.
(grandfathers rifle was ordered from sears catalog, he was 8
at the time.) it wasn’t till late 70s, early 80s that guns were
seen as evil.. my high school had a gun range in it.!
it is a collecting hobby,.
you don’t ask a collector why they have so many …
(cars, planes, books, and etc.)
so WHY do you care about guns.?
Aaaahhhhggg! Building a computer is hard
when you’re weird and do weird things!

because that is more convenient for her…
then buys another turkey…
tools – or in my case… i know i have that tool.!
BUTT out of 5 sets, hers, his, roommates,

no one puts it back,.!
I hear that, I had hundreds of $ in tools,
