so in world new body armor. it was tested straight on,
    on a fixed plate.
lasers; yes, IF laser is on one spot (stationary) for
more than a few seconds,. then yes burnout/through.
plasma; straight on = done. angled/ moving hit,. you
are hurting, area armor is cooked,. but alive.
.50 cal; straight on, energy transfer shatters armor,
allowing bullet to pass. But, as with modern armor
angles save lives,. tho armor is done…
now the annoying funny; melee,,, Knife, Baseball bat,
Fist… like hitting a brick wall,. the funny is,
‘you are the wall’, that frozen split second on impact…

Good, they are finally talking and planning. I agree,
play nice and then let them feel the burn, or dark
    roasted in this case 😛

If the armor acts like they were describing, the impact
would spread all over the suit, making you feel like you
fell down concrete stairs, at least 2 flights. Or someone
hit you with a 25lbs medicine ball! Clearly the slug size
and grain count would increase the bleed-through. Still,
it’s better than having a small hole in and a bigger one
    out…

I got some “good” news, we’re finally shoot the bull this
coming weekend after this one. We’ve got some friends
coming to help butcher him, since they want his skull for
my brother-in-law’s truck grill. Normally we take them
to a butcher shop, but they won’t let us take the skull.
Now all I need to do is pick up a big bag of charcoal 😀

as per PC, Yes, grain/slug affects area. BUT.
up to .30 cal rifle (and 12 gauge) you Don’t
“feel em” (my body armor took two 9mm.
i knew i was hit but did not feel it.!)
      {Second Chance body armor Type IIa.}
      [also i’m 5’5″ an 111lbs]
now inverse buddy (same armor except 2
trauma plates in front) took two 7.62 x 51.
was blown back, and out for 15 min,. 2 bruises
about 4″ across, hated life for days…

        Heh, I’m 5’5″ myself, but I weigh 200. Oh I know, I was
talking about things like .762, my son’s 5-7 rock, desert
eagle .50 etc. Combat shot or deer slug you might feel.
        .357 might give you a grunt 😉 I’ve never worn a vest,
nor do I want a reason to, I’m just going by veteran
conversations and what I’ve picked up over the years.

I have to wonder if a polymer oobleck/nylon
semi rigid body armor would work well?
Say two layers of polymer oobleck sandwiched
          between 3 layers of nylon?
Each nylon layer weave turned about 33 degrees
from the alignment of the previous one?

yes and no.. it would have to be 3″ thick.
and they used kevlar. instead of nylon.
other types of ‘oobleck’ is used in sports
            body armor…

if done right. you could get up to $200 for the hide.
well that’s average,. i seen one go for 2k,

        He’s a longhorn/black Angus mix, no pattern. I’m
the only one here that’s had anything to do with
hides, and that was 50 years ago. All I did was
mount them on the rack to dry. Tanning, never. We
don’t have a rack ready, and I have forgotten much.

I should add that the hides I did were
animals like rabbit, fox, and ‘coon.
Nothing as big as a 1500 lbs bull. I
was helping a friends’ father one
          weekend.

            Scars, done right,
you could get a LOT more than $2000 for a
solid color hide, assuming it is in good
condition without a lot of scars or blemishes.

I don’t know what shape his hide is, I can’t
get with in 6 ft of him without having to poke
him with a stick or punch him in the nose.
I guess he thinks I’m a threat to “his” herd.
Just as likely he’s jealous that the heifers like
me way more than him, even the youngest
bull calf will let me walk up to him. It’s
Burger’s own fault, I watched him helicopter
that calf when he was still nursing because
Burger wanted that milk… He acts tough, but
all I have to do is look him in the eye and say
“You got something to say?!” and he walks
              away, fast! big dumb coward.

Is that a zipper? Surely not — that would be a weak point.
Probably just decorative patterning. Could eve be intentionally
misleading to keep an attacker from going for a head shot.

That’s her normal blouse worn under her jacket.
      It’s now over the bodysuit.

        OK. I’d noticed the collar,
        assumed it was just personalized.

From what I’ve seen and read, snipers rarely
go for head shots. Take the Trump attempt,
if the shooter hadn’t tried a head shot, he
would have succeeded. A simple head turn
      was what saved Trump’s life.

That bodysuit is very form-fitting, and it must of
rubbed things the right way going on… 😉

I read a piece, don’t remember the source, a while back,
about a WW2 veteran sniper being shown around and
honored by some of the current special forces types.
They let him try their current rifle on a target on their
range consisting of a large square of steel topped with
a smaller one. His first shot pinged off the little square.
They said “Pretty good, but you almost missed.
        Bring it down a…”
His second shot interrupted and pinged off the little
square again. So did the next five.
        They gave him the rifle.

Heh, it’s a quote off a meme I ran across
years ago. I will admit, I do go out of my
way to get my youngest to call out
        “Dad! Stop!” 😉

Quick update on my son’s treatments, he’s doing better,
he can actually load 10 bags of feed without stopping.
They’re 50lbs each, I can do 4 tops without resting.
Then my heart starts to complain (grumbling)…
