which it would be well worth their time and efforts to keep
clean and unpolluted.

All the platforms will need to be at least partly mobile,
whether it’s water or bottom mining. There’s only just so
much dissolved minerals in any given area.
Rock mining requires the stone to be crushed and heated,
while water/silt mining is more about vaporizing the
water out to collect the minerals.
So, Dean Allbrech is drinking something, probably Scotch, aged 12 years,
and Chelsea and Jeon-hoon appear to be drinking wine. The other three,
possibly beer, but more likely something like Perrier (though the shape
is wrong for Perrier specifically). Not your typical school board options.
There’s at least 5 different types of bottles behind Allbrech
and Jeon-hoon, so for a school board, they sure drink a lot.
Hardly gives any confidence in their dissension-making.
Davis, Whitney, and Iris are all drinking the same thing,
that hints it’s those 3 losers in the middle that are the
real problem. Small-minded, controlling a-holes that
don’t care about anything but their own agendas.
Interesting thought. Any cases, other than the obvious exception
of humans, of individuals becoming Imperial citizens NOT as part
of a package deal for their entire species? I guess the Dogishuan
kids of the pirate crew come close.
I’d say anyone can join the Empire, IF they swear in
and follow the laws. The Empire has always welcomed
those who wish to join. As long as they aren’t guilty
of breaking Imperial laws before they did.
But has it happened? Or the converse. A titular head-of-species
swears his or her people in, but one or more holdouts refuse to
join and either leave or declare independence in place? The pirate
kids had little choice, and it proved to be a temporary situation
anyway as their treatment was a factor in causing their alpha
to decide in favor of bringing the species in.
I don’t think we have seen a precedent aside from humans.
But that sounds like a decision that is up to the individual Kingdoms.
The Empire’s flexibility aside, making an exception for humans doesn’t
sound like something the Empire would do.
As for security, that’s always going to be a risk as individuals might
not be ok with their people joining the Empire.
Much depends on the circumstances. Using an idea from
Tom Kratman, citizens of a hostile nation would not have that
option.
If a member of an opposing military tried to change sides, the
Empire would have to charge, try, and sentence him under his
own nation’s laws. Probably Treason/death penalty.
The Human soldiers on Catia were shown the option, but not
allowed the choice until their government ended the war.
Lamia never actually surrendered, they just kind of… stopped.
Teresa allowed that. Because of their new President, they were
beaten and cooperating, no need to demand more. Saving face,
so to speak.

even used as “occasional treat” carrots can cause, tooth
disease, obesity, diabetes, among other health problems.
Yeah, I think it’s an idea that got started because wild rabbits eat
the leaves off the carrots without pulling them up or digging down.
Moles eat the underground veggies more than rabbits do. Which is
why dogs will dig up a garden as well. “gotta catch ’em all!” Sorry,
my kids loved poke-mon… damn intro song is STILL stuck in my head.
