Look at Teresa’s face (panel 3). She’s no longer the chubby
faced little girl at the start of this whole series.
And observe Taritha’s attitude and demeanor. She’s no longer
the wild carefree Romini “kitten” that was pressed into being
Teresa’s “lady in waiting”.
Amazing what responsibilities and expectations will do to a person.
(btw, I’m loving Taritha’s shoulder rig! i wish I could
get away with wearing something similar in public)
There are States in this “Union” where
you could wear that in public.

Florida passed no permit concealed carry,

In general I’m happy with the loosening of firearms carry laws, but I strongly
wish the in-my-view necessary correlating actions are taken. I wish that
firearms safety, maintenance and marksmanship (in that order) training was
mandatory part of getting a high school diploma (along with STEM, history,
ethics, critical thinking, and a few other things necessary to maintaining a
free and responsible democracy). Instead, I find that we (Washington) are
withholding funds from high schools that teach hunting, firearms use, or even
archery, because they are teaching kids to use “dangerous weapons”. Like
that doesn’t make them MORE dangerous, or like a hammer, crescent wrench,
baseball bat or kitchen knife isn’t a dangerous weapon. But there I’m entering
decidedly non-Empire politics, so I apologize and shut up.
I know the downside of it, in my day the streets weren’t safe, but there
were fewer guns than now. All the more reason that the good folk carry!
As a school kid, our school system was badly short on funds for education,
however the sports teams always had new equipment and they re-did the
gym floor with a new, larger school logo, ‘nugh said.
I recall one scene from Mr. Holland’s Opus, when Mr. Holland is playing
chess with the football coach of a fictional high school in Portland,
Oregon, Kennedy High School. Something about the day they ban
football in this state, or cut funding, or something similar. Basically,
how high school sports, especially football, in Oregon is such a big deal.
And it was then. I grew up in Oregon, fortunately well south of the
Portland metro area, and at least that part of the movie was dead on.
Jochi, do you watch YouTube? I very much enjoy William Kirk’s “Washington Gun Law”
channel. WK is a practicing attorney and is always enlightening to watch.
In international politics a rule has been when a state does not have control of a territory / area supposedly part of that nation,
then any other nation that is being wronged by that area has the right to act in that uncontrolled area and right that
transgression as reasonably or by the means as they see fit.

Oh, I could probably (legally) wear such
a rig in the state that I live in.

My son has the almost the same rig he wears when he’s out riding,
