Looks like things are going to get interesting after
the Pride exits the wormhole. Good thing the fighters have
AIs on board otherwise they wouldn’t be available. Looks
like things in both strips are heating up.
I have to agree and I’ve seen that before in RL too. Frustrating…
That first ship might of been a “trap”, making them look like the
aggressors, giving the shitbats the excuse to go all out. Wouldn’t
be the first time someone has pulled that trick to start a battle.
Yeah that was my first thought when it was announced they were
sentient, that they didn’t need pilots to function. Another
assumption by the opposition that they would be helpless if they
had a hull breach. Unless they send one ship through with shields
and come back asap they shouldn’t have an issue, for that matter
the grav guns ignore the shields anyway and no one outside of the
Empire knows that, so far anyway. A quick zap with 20 gravs does
wonders on the bad guy’s attitude…
Hm. I would imagine as one enters a system through the wormhole
that there are designated, defined flight paths. Therefore if one
has trouble following them…. fighters peel off to set the
ambush, while the ship itself would veer off at high angle. Those
following run into a fire-fight before they can even figure out
which way their target went. Plus the fighters are AI-sentient
and not (??) affected by the transit, while any live crews aboard
the hostile ships, Will be for a short period.
Somebody will correct me if I’m wrong, but if memory serves,
AIs are also zapped by wormhole transit just not as badly or
with as long a recovery time as biologicals. Hence Chardis’
ordering a “soft” transit. Apparently the vessel’s spatial
velocity affects the severity of the debilitating transit
effects at least somewhat proportionally.

for the crew to wake,,.
AI’s are affected by jump,. as said to Shiva from
Esmay in TGW-858 panel 6..
velocity,, when the rescue craft (electrocuted cat)
did it’s high speed transit, all were in the hospital
for a bit,, an most would have died, without
Teresa’s intervention..
I think it largely depends on what they mean by a “hotel escort”.
It could, though unlikely, mean she was assigned to escort them
and provide them with guidance as to how the local society
operates to minimize cultural and societal misunderstandings.
In real life, this strikes me as a service that at LEAST four star
and up hotels ought to offer. Kind of like a tour guide, but there
to make the experience more pleasant for both tourists and locals.
Dropping off the fighters? I thought even the electronic systems
needed a bit of time to reset after a Wormhole transit..?
Question: I was following some links and references to jog (hell!
restore) my memory and TGW-802 refers to “Batavians”. Is that the
proper name of the species we’ve been referring to (not without
reason, mind you) as ” shitbats”?
I think those are the smaller versions of the shitbats,
bat-like but far less aggressive almost cute in comparison.
That ship was shown to have grass-eaters on the bridge
so, only PC knows for sure.
I know that was their first encounter with the Dogs but the skipper of that vessel identified as being a “Batavian” vessel. We know the dogs were being forced to act as commerce raiders. My question was whether “Batavians” is the proper designation for what we call “shitbats”. Rob? PC? Anybody?
