Mrs Hikaru is a real huckster although with a good heart. She is investing
for Tenshi. I think Tenshi will be happy when she finds she is a making
D1.2 an hour, but what is her manager’s cut?
Snort, one of us needs relief. Ha.
Bill,
Yep. Definitely NOT a “snipe”.
Good times will be had by all. Good tales, good deeds of daring-do,
and best of all, good friends, companions, and comrades-in-arms.
(damned how I still miss “the life”. pass the kleenix)
I knew that the classic phrase is “derring-do” and your alternate version made me look it up.
Apparently “derring-do” is a mutated form of “daring-do” that happened because spelling was
weird in the 1600’s, and someone made a mistake, and the mistake stuck.
So I rather like “daring-do” as an updated version.
And the last line from Jerry Clower’s “Coon Hunt” story!
Thanks for a fun memory.
Side note, my Father-on-law was a VP at the fertilizer
plant where Jerry was a salesman.
The pidgin comes out when she’s stressed, or excited, or relaxed, or tired probably.
Same as the Ozarks in my speech. But wow, an hour’s wages (or $10) for a bag of
chips? I’m going to assume that’s her “stolen chips” price, not her regular price.
And I caught the Jerry Clower reference, but Dan beat me to acknowledging it.
And I love the repurposed boar spits.
More like $15 now, because of the strong economy. Your assumption is correct.
I was in a boar hunt in Germany when the purpose of the crossbar was explained to me.
Boss “investing” for you can turn out bad. See James Caan in
Thief :} Not saying Mrs. Hikaru is the kind of Boss that Leo
was, but free association can be a terrible thing :{
So that is what a naugha looks like. Little Cat gets 25 points for
not letting go of her spear! That story should be good for a beer
or two for quite a while :}

Well, Woodman, the naugha definitely is NOT a snipe.
Catman. What’s with Mrs Hikaru’s pidgin all of the sudden?
It’s sort of a cross between a hyena and a panther.
Mrs. Hikaru’s reverting by habit.
A very ‘LOOSE’ hybrid of hyena and panther…
And I suspect that she can speak English quite well,
she just likes to mess with people…
I remember the “Nauga Hide” advertisements.

In a slightly similar vein, as I live in America I often remark
“In for a penny, in for a dollar.”
Because I don’t have any pounds in my wallet.

I was wondering if anyone would recognize the reference. Good one, Dan!

“No shit! There I was!….”
I haven’t seen Thief, but it was the same in “The Professional”.
Ok, maybe I missed something, but don’t Catians have tails?
They’re retractable, and would have been a liability in this hunt? (Jes’ tryin’ ta help, PC)
Retractible?!? Boy, I bet THAT’S a pain in the backside!
Ha! A decided Brownie Point for the writer… it is *rare* to encounter a Jerry Clower quotation. :}
