Had a Dr’s appointment at the VA yesterday and wound
up parking next to a Tesla Cybertruck. Man! Are those
things butt ugly! They look ugly in a photo but, I promise,
are even uglier in person! I looked and I could NOT see
where the headlights are! I’m driving the last car I’ll ever
own but even if I were looking for another car, and if I
were thinking about an EV (which I absolutely would
never do) I would not consider one of those monstros-
ities! No fekking way!

Maybe if I were younger and we had right-to-repair laws,
but as it is, no. There are too many areas where ICE vehicles
are superior, including depreciation.
I prefer cars that will always be worth what I pay for them,
which normally means twenty years old or older.
The thing about Cyber-truck is that it was designed for the Martian
base folk, not for on earth. I suspect someone on Musk’s team told
him that people loved the idea so much they’d want to buy it.
I’ve seen 2 myself. Since it was designed to be on a barren planet,
they were sloppy with the weather protection, so if you wash it,
you have to put it in “wash mode” or the computer detects “flood
waters” and locks down the computer, and closes all ports so you
can’t drive or open the doors. In order to fix it, you have to call
Tesla service to come out and reset that.
I have seen someone selling bumper stickers that say,
“I bought this before Elon went crazy.” I don’t think
you could put one of those on a Cybertruck.
PC. I’ve been thinking about the Empire’s FTL ships.
How do you see them? Do you see them as ring
ships? Some other visible FTL appendages? If you want
to use your usual medication capsule shapes I could
construct addons to attach to existing ship models.
It just helps me to have a concrete goal in mind. At
the moment I’m looking at 50s style movie rocket
ships and (hopefully) realistic rigid airships (I want to
get the sense of a frame under the outer skin as op-
posed to the smooth skin on a blimp.
If you are thinking of going the ring ship route, I can
give you generic rings and attachment struts you could
use essentially as greeblies. Let me know.

Because of the limits on their finances and materials,
they couldn’t build new ships,
but had to modify what they already had.
What I envision is add-on FTL pods,
like on ’50s sci-fi ships or even Star Trek.
Haven’t accessed that drive in a while. Not entirely sure
it’s still spinning. Next time I’m on the PC I’ll search for
“Super Nova Capital Ship”. Fancy something like TOS
style warp warp nacelles? How about a ring with spindle
shaped pods on it? I’ll play with different ideas and
send you screen caps. How about that?

on the first TOS movie back in ’79. So I forgot them heh.
