C’mon Julie, use those brains! Harder because of the work, spending more
time in the field than home. Better because you can earn trust and respect
a lot faster and learn how to use those skills for the good.

The hornies might of had just as rough of a time at it than any of the fringe
worlds because of the big corporations have been controlling everything.
I’d wager the entire core would be better and far more profitable if Motha
and the other’s were to go belly-up.I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t
when their attack on Catia fails, and I’m betting heavily on the Cats
    winning it!

My son is doing better now, but they will be keeping him over the weekend.
Seems he had a mild case of bronchitis on top of a severe asthma attack.

Glad to hear he’s doing better.
One of the reasons that it’s hard to quit smoking is that it’s a lot of little habits.
I used to smoke in my car. On my way to work, I would always light up at certain points.
After starting the car, when I hit the on ramp to the interstate, when I parked at work…
When I bought my minivan, I decided not to smoke in it. Even when I’m on an hour-long
trip, I don’t feel any need to smoke, because I don’t have any “trigger” points built up
as habits to light up. Not even when I get on that same ramp to the interstate, because
the experience in my minivan was never the same as getting on the ramp in my hearse.
That’s what your son is up against, breaking a lot of little smoking habits, not just one
      big one.
The best time to quit smoking is when your entire life has suddenly changed, like
      entering basic training.

        ditto on all that.
This is a good time to start quitting for your son.
He can’t smoking while in the hospital.
Several years ago the organization that certifies hospitals changed there rules
so that you cannot call yourself a hospital if you allow smoking anywhere in the building.
If he will agree you might help by removing all cigarettes,
ash trays and lighters from his living quarters and vehicles.
Of course don’t do it without his agreement.
good luck to you and him

I think we got through to him this time, I flat out told him that if he didn’t,
he’d be on oxy full time in just a few years, like his mom.

        The best way to quit smoking is the way I did;
        I never started!
Of course that doesn’t help those that do start to quit.
Scarsdale; hopefully you can help your son do so.

Echo that completely. I had to empty out enough
partial cups of coffee with cigarette butts floating
in them (revolting!) growing up that I was for
sure never going to smoke myself. Oddly both
of my kids picked up the habit.

Sadly, I started at the ripe old age of 13, yes I’ve been smoking
for 51 years! With the stresses of work and a fireman I became
          a chain-smoker to boot. 3 packs a day wasn’t cheap either. I now
use a vape and maybe smoke 3 cigarettes a day at the most.

I have a little thumb-powered machine that cost me $5.00.
I buy tubes with filters off of Amazon, and raw tobacco from
            a local shop.
20 cigarettes cost me about $1.20.
They will be even cheaper once my tobacco plants cure.

I used to do that as well, even bought an electric one to save time.
Just when I had to cut back for the wife’s sake, the cost of that vs
the just buying by the pack really wasn’t much different. More so
when the bag of tobacco would dry out and turn to powder.
I did go back to my pipe for a while, but that got to be a pain.

He did the same when he got his new truck, but he’d take
time out to smoke anytime he’d stop. He used to chew,
maybe this might get him to take it back up, if not quit altogether…

Okay. P3 tells me the Empire knows war is on the horizon.
Since they are already aware that the core has working FTL
tech they’ll be ready for an attack on Catia. It’s gonna get
    INTERESTING real soon.

I made a comment earlier about the three-letter-men and entrapment.
    Let me amplify that…
I’ve bought many digital cameras off of eBay. They often come with memory cards that
    the owner neglected to remove.
I now destroy every card without reading it. At the Post Office, as soon as I open the box.
Why? Because I used to look at the contents, and one day I found some interesting
    images.
I took it to the real-life Matthew, who used to be my neighbor. As soon as I showed him
the card and said, “My new camera came with this card in it, and it has some
images…”, he snatched it out of my hand and told me to shut up. He then tossed it in
his garbage disposal and fired that sucker up.
Then he told me the story behind that reaction:
There was a man who bought a camera and found that the memory card held some
    images of child pornography.
He took the card, camera, and box with the sender’s address to a three-letter agency.
They arrested him for being in possession of child pornography.
The jury, thankfully, found him not guilty, but by then his life had been ruined.
The TLM didn’t care, they had a child porn bust on their record.
As “Matthew” explained, they didn’t bother going after the original owner of
the camera as it would have been too much work to get a conviction, and doing
so might have opened them up to criticism for their treatment of an innocent
man who had tried to do the right thing.
    Lazy men, meet low-hanging fruit.
    The card that I had?
“Matthew, you love the outdoors. That card had some of the most beautiful
images of the Appalachian Trail that I’ve ever seen. I thought you’d like them!”
Deadpan look on his face. “Next time, say so first.”

I hear that, my oldest decided that the link to “see sexy girls from japan”
downloaded a dialer that called there, he paniced and thankfully shut of
off but it still racked up a $300 phone bill and infected my computer. I
reformatting the HDD and had it write 0s on the entire surface, who
knows what the infection was that had been setup. Gotta love 14 y/o
hormones… At 3am… I had got up and turned on my computer and the
HHD started to hammer like mad, so I did a cold-kill and did an off-line
dos virus scan, 12 different ones!

Someone should explain to the boys that in today’s schools, everyone should carry
a couple of tampons. They’re great for plugging bullet wounds, and easy to insert.
No, that was not a joke.

It’s on You Tube as well and also there is one
      where a man/woman had a fit because
Walmart didn’t carry tampons for men.
      Freaking ridiculous.
But we in Canada aren’t any better.
We have 50 yr old man who says he is a 13 yr old girl.
He swims and showers and changes with them.
No body does anything about it.
      Police won’t either. Pathetic.

Silly girl, you still think your plans are valid?
The adults tried subtle, now they are just telling

Though I did miss the part where her latest investigations

  7. Scarsdale

Yeah a “hidden archive” is going to take a bit of hacking to find,
not as simple as changing a setting like “show hidden folder/ files.”
It takes an admin password to do that on a terminal. I doubt she

The Navy scholarship paid for it, but she chose it. It was just a coincidence that

not so much,. as in a hack i know of ,, put the “hidden files”
in plain sight,, IE: every program has a handful of starting
files an folders. in one of the little used folders, you put a
“ABC” header,. in that you put 20 or so false leads (an traps),
an one with the actual data…

Most of that sort of thing I know of is defending hacks and attacks,
not doing them. The same son, I caught him red-handed using hack
scripts on-line, he REALLY didn’t like it when I threw out his mouse
and keyboard! The last thing I wanted was to get band from the
internet because my son liked to mess with “Myspace” folk…
