Leaving your weapons? Now that’s showing a lot of trust.

Not really. If the rabbits had wanted them dead,
they likely would never have known what hit them.

Bill, agreed. But still, as Scarsdale said below, it shows the
Rabbits that they weren’t carrying them for offensive purposes.

Oh sure, they could of shot one or both when they were entering
the lagoon or when they were looking around, it could still
backfire depending on how the alpha reacts, etc…

Keeping an accent is harder than it sounds. My wife had a strong one
when we moved in together, but it faded over the years. On the other
hand, I picked up some of hers! Some accents make certain words hard
to pronounce, while other’s are made easier. I dropped the word “Hello”
for “Howdy” mainly because it’s more relaxed and easier for me to say.

So that’s a yes, using tools. They took the right response to the
purging they did, normally bombing and shock troops would be used.
I’d say whatever they were after wasn’t important enough to keep
trying. Disarming themselves makes sense, it’s a clear sign that
they weren’t carrying them against the Rabbits, but for defense
against wildlife or any core stragglers.

Yeah, sometimes accents fade, but just get someone mad enough,
and it will come back full force with a vengeance!

I’m somewhat of a natural mimic. I have to be careful when I get
around people with a strong accent, lest I start picking up their
speech. Some people are a bit touchy about their accents, and if
they hear hints of it from someone else that they know isn’t from
the old country they get offended, like they’re being made fun of.

I’m a bit like that too, although I never called wasps “waspers” or
called an iron a “ierin” and a pop or soda was called a “sodie”, but
you get the idea. My wife talked quite a bit like Cissy when she first
moved in with me. Not deep south but you could of fooled me heh.

Our youngest is in Texas. For the second time. Moved to Austin for
work, met and married there, then a year or two later they moved
back to California for a year or so because he was sorta homesick,
but the LA violence was getting a bit too close, so they moved back
to Texas. Now they’re in Dallas.

Ya’ll is about all she’s picked up so far.

1960s “Hippie” never looked so good as on Cissy.

I know right? I think she’s very cute in that outfit. My wife
wore an outfit like that and I found myself hitting on her
      more 😉
Well that and her tube tops and daisy dukes 😉
      Ah, memories…

Killed once, Killed twice, etc. – I’m thinking airsoft or paintball or similar.

Which got me thinking. Do people who have been to war, and been on the front
lines (i.e. killed opposition fighters), or cops who have had to shoot someone,
play such games? Much? I mean, I can see if if they’re staying current on
skills because they’re still in, either active, reserve or national guard. But
what about after they’re out and trying to move on with their lives? I’ve a
friend who was a crew chief on a Chinook helicopter in Vietnam. He’s not a big
fan of disorganized, random fireworks. He’s not anti-gun; he carries daily, and
he hunts. He just doesn’t like random loud bangs that sound like gunfire.

My youngest tried paint ball for a bit, until he seen a video of a couple of guys
messing with a paint ball gun. They didn’t let the balls thaw enough so when
one decided he wants to see what the big deal was he told his buddy to shoot
him in the arm. The still froze paint ball went INTO his tricep and they guy
popped it out before they cut the video. VERY cringey… He got into airsoft for
a while until he decided he hated the sting heh..
I know how that is, I had a co-worker/friend at the factory that was a ‘Nam
vet how would jump at any loud noise, so I fully understand your friend.

I still have times of exaggerated startle response (they called it).
Sudden, loud, sharp noises, and, almost anything that startles.
Early on, my buddy and I hit the floor at the sound from the movies’
popcorn popper once . . . then laughed. My insides used to “fall
apart” at the noises in cry or anger or shut-down . . . but now all
it does is make for ducking – Or, more often, explosive expletive
      (NSFW) or the conventional G-D;
My OT prof said that was not violating the Commandment – contrary
to conventional belief, and then he explained what the Commandment
really said. but merely an ‘ineffectual prayer” to it never
happening again. . . . and yet it does. The adrenalin spikes are
      sometimes bad.
Not done paint ball, or any of the other stuff. I go to the pistol
range with RVN buddies, but that is it.
I do really well with my Crimson Trace laser beams.

I grew up in the Gary, IN area and since I was working in the city
I was always a target. I feel if I hadn’t have my martial arts
training I wouldn’t of survived. I lost count of how many times
someone tried to mug me, or just outright try to fight the “cracker”
for fun. I still won’t walk in front of an alleyway, and check
shadows and corners. I know it’s not as bad as you guys have, it’s
mostly annoying to me, but it’s been 45 years and I still can’t
        break the habit.

I know what you mean, but I’m living in bumfuk-egypt and
I’m lucky to see 20-30 in a days time, where back home
I’d see that many in under an hour. I think it’s because
there’s a state jail near by.

            Plus I carry a .22LR handgun in the fields and I have a 9mm
when I have to go into town… so no worries.

That much environmental damage from a “trial mine”, was the Core
expecting the whole planet unlivable when they were done :{ Would
not that many resources be easier to extract from outside a gravity
well? Asteroids, and scooping volatiles from the edge of gas giants.

Unless, Core being Core, it is as much about oppressing others,
    as mere mineral gathering.

I suspect they were planning on using the rabbit folk as laborers until
the purge they did. Clearly after clearing out the core crew they
figured it wasn’t worth the effort. I’m sure the core thought they
were just “lesser species”, would be dumb enough to let them do it.

It’s about staying in power and perpetuating the system that allows
      them to stay in power.

In a way it’s the same problem we are facing. If we went to go outside
the gravity well our current economic system would break down if it
kept following capitalistic rules. If we went for it, we could shift the
production of material goods into orbit/solar system within 50 years.
Give it 100 years and we could shift our food production to orbital.
And aside from the initial investment of, let’s be generous a
quadrillion dollars it would cost us next to nothing in comparison
      to current costs.
