Many people think that the 7700-7900 series of CPUs were the high spot.

can’t afford the new prices on memory, storage, or anything else.
But I can replace anything you need except for the 2080, I jumped from the
1080ti straight to the 3060 and stopped with the 3090.

I’ve always run on the on-board graphics, the graphics cards have been
for computation only. In fact, my current computer has the card ports
blocked by an aluminum plate I made to mount a pair of server fans
to help cool my top graphics card. So I couldn’t run a monitor off of
the GPUs if I wanted to.
No, I’m not going to talk politics. I don’t think that’s what you need.
I don’t agree with every thing you are saying and seeing, but I do
some of it, and more importantly, I share some of your feelings of
fear and anger, and pain. You are my friend, and you are a good man.
We don’t have to agree on everything for me to know those things
are true. I care far more for you and your pain than I do for the
areas we differ. I want you to know I appreciate and respect you.
And I will offer you whatever little help and support I can supply.
I was thinking I would wait for the first political response. As one of the few “libs”,
I felt waiting for the community to speak was important.
But I’ll say this – switch a few nouns, flip a few phrases,
and this is what I feel. These are difficult times.
A polarization has been created. I’m not going to blame at this point.
The roots go way back.
Regardless, like you, I feel drained and wish for things in a different
era. I fear what will happen and what we are becoming.
You, and the community, have a good heart.
If we can move beyond the slogans, the sound bites,
the pervasive need to demonize the other, maybe we can
start to find some common ground.
There is always hope. There is always light.
We just have to look.
