  1. The idea for the poison came from Kajm,
when the Dragonflies were first introduced.

    • Gary (Kajm at DA)

      *bows*

  2. blending in.. ladies no way,.
    1) hair / color. no one has any.!
    2) no cover. without a hat (cover, lid.)
the hair will be 100% more noticeable
    3) female. since there is no females.!
every recruit will stop an stare!!

    • Sam

#4) Taritha’s rings. A bit out of place on a marine.

    • Considering that they are VIPs and their visit is known blending
      in is not an issue.
Add in that both have bodyguards and it’s a total non-issue.

P8: Does that mean there are special orders for VIP visits?
Or is the guard simply being asked what their general
      standing orders are?

      • I think it’s the former, since he’s new the other is just making
sure he knows his orders. I’m sure if it’s the Empress, there
would be certain orders, like shoot first and sort it later. Like
the secret service, the ones close to the pres tackle him and
shield with their bodies, the rest look for the assassin. But
they know that a VIP is coming, just not who. That in itself
would be a mistake on the grounds,
a simple RPG could take her out.

      • orders .. both
all new FNGs, repeat standing orders..
        and special orders when asked..

        • That’s what I figured. Guard duty is one detail we didn’t have
to worry about in the Air Force. That’s what they have Security
Police for. Even then not all SPs did gate guard duty. SPs were
split between “Security” (gate guard, plane guard etc.) and “Law
Enforcement” (base cops). We just referred to everyone in the
Security Police squadron as “Sky Cops”. I once had the “pleasure”
of having to work for an E-8 who crossed trained out of sky cops.
Total asshole. He tried to run a shop full of technicians the same
way he ran a group of SP grunts. It did NOT go well! He even
tried to go all spit-and-polish till somebody complained to
the 1st Sergeant. First Shirt got him told!

  3. A strong nerve poison is common in small animals, even the
platypus has a bad one, but it doesn’t inject so they can’t use
aggressively, but it is a VERY bad idea to pick one up to pet/
play with it. So it makes perfect sense that the dragonfly’s
would have a weapon like that.

I don’t think dressing like that for long-term wouldn’t work for
all the reasons that Rob and Sam are stating, but for a simple
trip with a bulky jacket and hat should do for Teresa. Catains in
the military are common and unless Taritha is riding in the open
no one could notice she’s female, besides, I would take a cat
female over a skinny new recruit any day. NO not that! Jeez guys,
    I mean in combat.

I was just reading the part where both Teresa and Taritha first
met and both of these lovely young ladies have noticeably grown
up! 😉 Looking good in that green T-shirt there 🙂

    • I meant to add that it’s clear Gopi and Mist have bonded,
atta-girl Gopi!! Long life and fast-tracked recovery here
she comes! I’m happy for both, it’s a pity the dragonfly’s
aren’t real, I can think of a dozen people off-hand that
would make good candidates for it. Not me,
I have too much baggage that would exclude me 😉

      • Sam

        Don’t sell yourself short, Scars.
Jonathan had a lot of baggage too,
and Trixie was made just for him.

        • Thanks, now how could I get in touch with a certain dragon?
          HA!

        • For that matter, I could do with a visit from Teresa’s
          “green touch” 🙂

  4. Randomizing which vehicle folk are in is a good piece of security.
    Avoid patterns at as many layers as feasible:}

    • Very true, if I was going to target a motorcade, the center vehicle
is the common mistake that ambassadors and such make. Sure,
it makes them look more important, but is worth the risk? Teresa
and her Own won’t make that mistake, and I know Teresa would
rather travel alone or with friends, but that’s not always an option.

  5. I must admit I’m really looking forward to the
explication of the Miral book saga.
But I’m sure it will be satisfying when it comes.

    • Make that Cheral. Sometimes I forget my own name!

      • robnot

        right on both.
        Miral of the Clan Cheral

    • I’m hoping it’s like the Emperor had done to the Wolf Pack
just after the fall, otherwise Miral will be dragging someone
into court! But she might get a sweet pay-out in the end
      either way.

  6. To me, the standing orders would be, NO exceptions.
You treat everyone as unfriendly until proven otherwise.
    Are they the real entities?

    • True, when Johnathan took Mistrail and Viktor to the
Emperor for the Navy, they did the same thing, even
though they were expected, even though Johnathan
was known by the guards, everyone had to show ID
to get past the gate without being turned into a
      flaming yard decoration.
