PC – I too believe God exists. I also believe in Jesus as my savior.
Belief in religion, not so much. I don’t preach at people, figuring if
my life isn’t a good example, why besmirch the true Gospel.
If someone else doesn’t believe as I do, that’s okay. It’s not my job
to change them. And for those who ask “What if you’re wrong?” Well,
I haven’t really lost anything, have I?
But if I’m right, and they’re wrong,
Can they say the same?
Now, this was not about religion. Nor politics. More about how sucky
many humans are, and I’m personally thankful for people like PC
who can create a wonderful, long-running story and keep it clean and
mostly wholesome while occasionally acknowledging that evil exists,
and must be fought when encountered.
That type are the worse, that’s what my father had. In his case, his doctor had him
come in and do an EKG in the office, it was nearly flat. You take care of yourself PC,
I have traditional medicare, part A & B came along with it. Only costs $266 a month…
Each. If it feels weird, like something is sitting on your chest, call 911. I’m getting
my stress test Friday. I’ve been skipping beats and feeling the pressure, so
I’m right there with you. Take a full aspirin 4 times a day and stay calm and rest.
My son’s been coming over more to keep an eye on us both. But I can’t seem to
convince him to take a drive to your neck of the woods heh.
Been testing the Elegoo printer, so far I’ve had only one failed print,
and it was my fault. The filament I used wasn’t dry enough, so it failed.
I’ve put 30 hours+ on it so far, I still don’t know all it’s functions, but
I’m getting there. If it does work as well as I hope, I’m retiring the
Ender and the Sovol to just minor BS if I use them at all. They have
an upgraded version now, 4 color printing! 😀
So I might invest in the upgrade or just buy another printer.
First, cataracts usually progress slowly. Eight months till you deal with them,
probably will not be a problem. Once they remove the cloudy lens and replace
each with an Interocular Lens, you will probably have better vision than you can ever remember.
The heart is more attention grabbing. Follow up with the doctor. Do what he says.
The full aspirin might be right for Scarsdale’s situation, but not your situation.
As far as the stories go, I want to see the next part, BUT you did what was right and important.
Rest, take care of yourself.
I didn’t mention the cataracts because I had mine done about 15 years
ago. Mine were bad by time I started to notice them. The downside of
dealing with high heat I guess, anyway it’s what both mine and my
father’s doctor told me, it’s really just a suggestion. Do take a full one
if you are feeling the chest pressure however, it’s the only way I get
relief when it starts.

didn’t notice a whole lot of loss.
Funny story: It was several years from the time the eye doc
said I had cataracts until they got bad enough that the VA
would fix them. Aside from my morning coffee I drink cheap
WalMart sugar free cool-aide. At the time I was drinking
lemonade. The first time I got a glass of cool-aide after the
first lens was replaced I was surprised to see that the stuff
was YELLOW. I had forgotten! So take heart. It will take a
while for the changes in your vision to become apparent.
Now as to the baby heart attack, I’ve been there. Had a
couple of baby strokes, too. Remember, what doesn’t kill
you leaves you alive. (I never came back NEARLY as strong
as I was before getting sick.) I don’t think you’ll notice much
difference between now and December. Think of it as just
one more issue to adapt to and overcome.
Well said Bill, my father had started with one of those, had another getting
mad at a project in the barn, my mother caught on about that one, that time
he had stints installed. The last one was due to his aortic valve failing. He
lived with that for nearly 15 years with a cow valve and a pacemaker. We all
thought his heart would fail, but it was the Alzheimer’s that got him.
Yeah, I’m just waiting for my aortic valve to get bad enough
for the VA to pay to have it replaced. BTW it’s not open heart
any more, the replacement valve assembly is fed in an artery
and expanded in place similar to how a shunt is emplaced.
As of last fall my aortic valve stenosis was just shy of severe.
I figure the next time I see my cardiologist he’ll tell me when
I’m likely to need the procedure. Should be interesting. Last
shunt he put in last may HURT LIKE HELL! It was all I could
do to stay still, much less stay quiet! Not looking forward to
that procedure. But at least they won’t have to crack my
breast bone.
Very much an unfun occurrence, I agree..
and I can confirm that cataracts are annoying,
as are excessive ‘floaters’ in the aqueous humor.
They do not have to be *too* oppressive, however.
The ‘silent heart attack’ is awkward as well, but can be worked around;
I am there already. Still, have a dash of faith and learn the techniques
for improving, and you can do well.
*I* certainly yet enjoy life, and you can as well.
Bill and I both got pretty bad, he couldn’t see the color of koolaid
and I was shocked at how much color there was in the nights sky
during a new moon… Since PC has Medicare, he’ll get the mono-focal
lens like us and will need readers to get by. I use the 2.0 lens for
the computer and the 3.5 for close up work.
Actually, I just wear bifocals. My eyes barely correct to
20/40 any more. Oh and my wife had her eye exam on
Tuesday and he confirms she has cataracts, too. But at
least it’s not as bad as it used to be. My Dad’s mother had
cataract surgery back in the 50’s when I was little. They
hadn’t developed the replacement lenses yet. She had to
wear glasses like the bottom of a soda bottle to walk
around and do anything. Funny thing, she also had a
pacemaker. I’ve had of those since ’08. Another year or so
and I’ll be getting another one of those (my 3rd) soon. The
current one has been in since ’17. But the heart doc says
it won’t be my heart that takes me out and he predicts I’ll
make 80. Not sure I wanna.
To summarize: We all are concerned and sympathize with your current health problems.
Especially as most of us have had the same or similar problems.
We want you to do what is best for you.
