I hope being “hunt brothers” doesn’t extend that far. That would (IMnsHO)
constitute a serious breach of opsec. What the core-worlders have already
seen is bad enough. But the plot is definitely thickening.
Ok I was right about that part and I’m pretty sure about what Kenshi is going to say as well.
clearly this was what the king was hoping for.
Ariste is about to find out (I hope) about the core’s FTL capabilities and possibly Ket’rrt will
discover the fact of how low cost her fleet is to run or that the Empire has way more ships
to back them up with.
I think it will be an equally important transfer of information,
for instance if she comes clean about the empire having gravity drives
he will come clean about the core’s FTL capability;
but it will be a gradual build-up to reach information that important.
I’ve seen a related cat pic a few years back … a very determined looking cat,
strutting up to the camera. Caption: “Your IQ test results are in. They’re negative.”
My respect for The Hunt and for Ariste just went up. She was Catian
before she was Navy, and traditions are important. Hopefully her oath
to the Navy included a “Take me as I am” clause. And somebody had
to trust her judgement to make her an officer, much less an admiral.
Also, this “confession” is probably planned, however honest it is.
Dunno whether to hope for “He hugs just like our dad” or “I wish
our dad had been more like him”. Either has pathos.
Way back in TGW194 it was said wormholes were thought to work by expanding
the spaceship to infinity as it enters and shrinking it back to size on exit.
But wormholes are thought to exist where two faces of folded 4D space are in contact (or nearly so)
which would limit the size of the wormhole to the area of contact and make it
extremely difficult to put one where you want it.
So I think they are actually teleport gateways (think Stargate without the frame) provided by the Dragons.
They could work by scanning a starship on entry, redefining it as a wave (and thus not have a position specified)
then redefining it as a particle (starship) on exit with a new position specified.
If a starship follows too closely the original’s exit is delayed and it is also scanned and merged with the original on exit.
The scan can be thought of as similar to an interlaced JPEG image; a fast transit only allows time for (say) a 3 pass scan
and thus is low resolution causing severe disruption to the systems. On the other hand a slow transit allows time
for a high number of passes (say 10 or 12) which gives a much higher resolution and little disruption to the systems.
Of coarse if you o in at too high a speed (say fractional C) then even a single scan is not possible and you do not make it out at all!
That is also how the dragons (all sizes) can teleport and CHANGE THEIR SIZE AND FORM!
If these are true wormholes then yes your right but at the same time take Babylon 5 their “jumpgates”
were artificial and sent anything entering to another realm that had to be navigated. These wormholes
could be doing something similar ships enter a pocket universe that’s small enough to be traveled through
quickly but it changes matter to fit that universe then when a ship arrives it returns to it’s natural state
kinda a mix-up of Stargate and Star Trek with a little Dr. Who thrown in lol. That’s why I believe these
wormholes are not a natural thing.
That said it does not matter if the comic uses wormholes or teleport gateways;
the physics of PC’s world is up to him (as long as it does not clash too much
with the known physics). not me, and if the core have a way of dumping multiple
ships into a system at one time the recipient better have some way of dealing
with it or they are going to be between a rock and a hard place!
Two words: Heisenberg compensator. It’s how Gene Rodenberry explained how the transporters worked.
In sic-fi it’s a matter of how convincing you make your lore read as much as real world physics. Science
is a fickle thing it’s not just facts but common opinion that makes it happen like cold fusion some scientists
claim it can be done but hardly anyone believes it so limited research is being funded or done. https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Heisenberg_compensator
I have a thought if the gravity drives can create more energy that is needed to start them then the wave
they create must generate electricity as a byproduct so as long as they use it to recharge the batteries on
board the only limitations are the life support supplies that is a huge advantage over any other ship design
it could run indefinitely as a drone as long as it returns for maintenance and maybe weapon reload unless
it’s entirely an energy weapon system. Something like the motors that were created to replace the combustion
engines in cars could be setup with large compacity compacitors could run the shields the same way.
“things that we must discuss” ??! Ruh roh. The plot thickens.
Can hardly wait till Friday evening to hear what Tenshi said.
Yup Friday is a long way off. What did Tenshi say? Inquiring minds want to know.
Ariste “First off, Ket’rrt I am the Admiral of the fleet and so….
I hope being “hunt brothers” doesn’t extend that far. That would (IMnsHO)

Like drying cement, but what is each side trying to cast in place?
It is already Friday here so I have to wait til Saturday!

Panel 2.
I guess I’m losing my touch. Do I need to be even more subtle?
Naaaa you’ve tripped me up plenty of times I just have a habit of spotting plot lines early lol

I can’t see that Ariste’s conversation is going to get off to a smooth start.
Gary! You’re back!
*sigh* And your front. Had to say it before you did.
gotta love dad jokes 😉
OT: A book I’m currently reading had an interesting idea fot a T-shirt
Zombies eat brains
You’re safe
What do you think? Cute?

You’d love my youngest son he’s big on skulls and the zombie apocalypse. lol
An alternate second line: “Guard your rear”

Hover text. Both strips. Nice.

I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be “Heisenberg” 😉
That’s the guy with the “uncertainty principle”.

I know it was a long day since I hadn’t slept. After surgery I have bad days where pain keeps me up
been hard to get back into normal life.

ya know one day I’ll learn that coffee isn’t a replacement for sleep….
