Is it wrong of me to suddenly think that Sgt. Squirrel & Co. are ‘privateers’ for the Empire? Sir Francis Drake came to mind this morning. I realize the two gentleman are on different mental levels, but the ‘do whatever it takes’ seems similar.
Privateers were a way of making war on a nation’s enemies without actually putting one’s own military assets at risk – on the cheap as it were. My understanding is that the nation issuing the “Letter of Marque” would already be at war with the nation whose merchant shipping the LoM would grant permission to prey upon. A LoM would legalize what would otherwise be piracy – something which has never been allowed. When it comes to the high seas, there is no such thing as the 2nd Amendment. Nation states very jealously guard their monopoly on force on the high seas. Back in the day, an armed vessel could be forced to “heave to” (pull over and stop) to be boarded and searched by pretty much any navy vessel. The captain’s possession of a LoM would pretty much be the only thing keeping said captain and his crew from being hanged and his vessel siezed. Of course if the nation whose flag the navy vessel flew did not recognize LoM from the issuing nation (like maybe they were at war with that nation?) then the “privateer” captain and his crew might be hung anyway. Privateering and piracy on the high seas – similar to being a highwayman on land – was a high risk occupation those who engaged in it did not enjoy an especially long life expectancy. Nor, as a rule, were they likely to die rich. Pretty much any way you slice it, honesty truly IS the best policy.
I’m with Madea. Just how old IS Flea? Her body seems mature but that does not necessarily mean anything. When the wife and I were working in the group foster home, we had child who had experienced extremely early puberty. In many ways she had the body of an adult but she was only NINE years old! Her height was about right for her age as was her mental and emotional development. She could not cope with the attention she received from some adult males. I felt for her. She was in foster care due to repeated sexual abuse by multiple male family members. Poor thing. She was a sweet child.
Regarding “Flea” I’m inclined to believe she is simply not very tall. Wonder what such a fresh faced person did to deserve being in the Legion.
…Mary Bell… adults do not have a monopoly on psycho… (again guessing.)
or,, it can be like you sed.. she had to fend off adults (fatally)..
and then… she could be a “little person”.. (one of my nieces, is 4 foot, an 19 .. an im 5’2″)
Perhaps not but under Texas law they cannot technically commit a crime before their 10th birthday. Gangs routinely use 7, 8, & 9-year-olds to enter a residence via a window (residential burglary under the law) and open the front/back door so the home can be plundered. Even if apprehended the child has to be released.
not just texas,, world wide.. and in most cases just give em back to parents or family… there is a long list of said crimes, (i looked at serial / murder ..) i think the youngest was 4.. o.0 .. mary bell was before tenth birthday…
and you got the double or nothing,. not to tall, who fended off adult male..
i guess i got the trifecta ,, : a crazy little person, who fended off adults fatally ..

My understanding is that privateers gave the government plausible denial. I think Theresa wants them to know who’s responsible for their pain.
