Trial by judge and jury did not go well for them. Can they plea bargain for Catian trial or is it a done deal. The ex-judge is looking pretty smug there. What has he got up his sleeve? He looks too self-satisfied for me. The one on the end looks like he wants to do something drastic. It might be hard with only one hand though. I think he was the one stabbed to the desk.
I understand pacing for dramatic effect and all, but if three of the four were found innocent of all other charges, the two counts of felony murder (your buddies died because you were all committing a felony) don’t apply. They have to have been found guilty of the rape (and physical evidence (DNA) should do that even if neither victim could remember anything) as it is the only felony left. I would have expected physical evidence tying them to both assaults and the kidnapping as well. Maybe “Jeffery Hinkman” was the only one dumb enough to have left fingerprints on the pipe or other club he used. Did I miss their names? Which one is he?
not innocent of ALL charges, just assault , kidnaping , an unlawful detention .. in court each an every charge has be handled separately .. first there are two different murder charges , Attempted murder , of cat an homeless.. then you have the Felony murder, the act that resulted in the death of two cohorts..

“Ten to twenty years in Imperial custody” Hmmm Does that mean King has had a prison built (or had an unused building converted)? Or does that mean they get to join the Legion? Does the Legion take convicted criminals? If so, then it seems like they’re pretty much skating. And why couldn’t the young cat they raped testify regarding the assault on the homeless guy? For that matter, I’m surprised that there even ARE homeless people in the empire. I would have thought that such folks would have been given the choice of 1) getting a job, 2) enlisting in the Legion of 3) being banished from the Empire. What gives?
If he is not a burden on the society, what problem does he create by being ‘homeless’? He may choose to be a ‘urban outdoorsman’ while being an upright citizen and self-supporting.

down the hall towards the surgery theater. Pissed me off, I wanted a spinal block so I could watch. They wouldn’t
even let me keep my old knee, the bastards. I wanted it in a jar on a shelf.

The Legion takes criminals, convicted or on the run, but not rapists. Even if they did, these four would be SOL,
as folks in the Legion are very fond of the Cats, and vice-versa.

Another possibility I see here is that people are filtering into the Empire, regardless of Empire efforts to guard the borders. He may have been a fairly new arrival.

PC, could the homeless man have been a person who managed to cross the border into the Empire, and possibly a fairly recent arrival?
