Ah – from the look on Miral’s face in P4 plus her unclasping
hand, and the direction Dagger is facing, it looks like Dagger
just told Miral to not even think about drawing steel in the
presence of Teresa.
She was reacting to that reporter, I bet she ran up
the steps towards Teresa and it triggered her reflexes.
No doubt Dagger told Miral that it was cool.
Ahmya looks odd with her hair up, I almost didn’t recognize her.
Typical newsie, don’t think about risk, get a exclusive! She lucky
the Empress’ own didn’t react as well. I’m sure Dagger would
have ended it fast if the reporter wasn’t safe.
Yep, I figured they were spreading lies to give any of the troops
on those ships a reason to fight harder and with as much
viciousness they could muster. But the downside of that will
result in those duped to flip all the faster. More so when
those kids find out who owns everything and how well
they all are doing.
“SURE! I’ll tell you, we are going to board a
space ship, and fly to the sun, I’m sure if you
asked Teresa nicely she could find a ship you
could join us on… Oh no, it’s totally automated.”
So now we know what Shitbat central told
its people to explain what happened to the
personnel in that convoy. Clearly Shitbat
powers that be have been preparing for a
war for quite a while.
Oh sure, I had expected something this dumb.
Sure, it makes the crew more blood-thirsty,
but it sets yourself up for a mass defection
when the lies come to light “Don’t worry,
they are too dumb to figure it out.” Riiiiiight…
hehe,, haha,, lol,. that’s how they got crew so quick.
they got friends and family on a ‘revenge run’.
a quick live broad cast from the city, aught to stun em
long enough to take the ships with very little lost.!
For Sydney Dent, about your comment yesterday:
First, you may hold a minority opinion here, but that makes it all the more important that
you express it here. You expressed that opinion well, without rudeness or flamethrowing.
You will always be welcome here, and your expressing your opinion is desired.
Second, please remember to use the “enter” key, to keep your lines short and easily read.
Your comment stretched across the page, running over the right margin.
Third, no one here has any problem with legal immigrants. My wife was the daughter of
legal Mexican immigrants. But if your first act upon coming across the border is to break
our law, then you have proven that you don’t belong here.
I have known several illegal aliens whom I would gladly sponsor for legal entry and
eventual citizenship, but only if they return to their home country and apply in
accordance with our laws.
As to why it is impossible for an illegal immigrant to apply for citizenship, it is because
breaking our laws upon entry is not a demonstration of good character or respect for
this nation, which is required for citizenship.
Sorry, had a minor power failure. To continue:
America can not take in everyone who wants to come here, it is physically
and financially impossible. We have a controlled system for legal entry,
and illegal immigrants have placed themselves outside of that system.
Legal entry cannot be based on the applicant’s need… Too many people
in the world have need… it must be based on the nation’s needs. I know
that sounds selfish and cruel, but it isn’t. The worldwide population of
people living in poverty outnumbers our current population more than
100-1, we cannot help everyone. So how would you have us decide,
other than what’s best for America?
Legal immigration of new citizens who are willing to assimilate is
the only realistic way to bring in non-citizens in numbers that this
nation can absorb.
Entering in violation of our laws, waving a foreign flag and demanding
that WE change to suit THEM is not the way to do it.
Try that in any other American country, North or south, and experience
the results.
Okay, Canadian politicians would probably get on their knees and beg
your forgiveness, but they’re insane to begin with.
Mexican authorities would throw you in a nasty prison so fast your
head would spin. Same for every other South American country.
I have to agree, Money, a place to live, our government
support does almost nothing in the grand scheme of
everything. If we do anything, is to let more people,
volunteers, go where ever is needed, to uplift these
people. We know it works many Africa villages have
been helped. They need more help by more people,
not just money.
Read the opinion piece and watched the video.
So on the opinion piece, you will never hear ME praise the
benevolence and honesty of the Mexican government.
So far in their elections over they years they have traded
one corrupt party with another. Switching between
Cleptocrats and drug lords as to who they take money from.
Again, it’s a bit of a CA thing. But people who are second
and third generation show the flags of their family origin
– Mostly Mexico, but a lot of El Salvador and Honduras now.
Some who come over are bad players.
But MOST, MOST…come, send money they earned back to the
home country and their families buy a nice home, set up a
bodega, send the kids to school.
Which feeds into the video. We’ve stopped most government
foreign aid. But the remittances sent back are informal aid.
They money they earn picking fruit, washing dishes,
cleaning hotels and houses, gardening and so on builds
village schools, and provides the capital for rural economy
that corrupt governments won’t.
It’s estimated that 30 to 50% of the CA farm labor doesn’t
have their papers. Probably most of the kitchen help doesn’t
have their papers.
Some are trying to get legal status. But when ICE shows up
to immigration courts, where’s the incentive to use the
system when the system will bag you, tag you, and put you
on a plane and if you’re lucky its your home country –
unless the local gang put a hit out on you.
It just pains me when “ALL illegals are criminals living
off the government.” That is a lie created to demonize
a class of people so the rest of us don’t have to care
if they are abused. And “they could just come legally”
doesn’t understand how hard the US makes it to come legally.
I’m keeping this going. And that isn’t fair to PC or the comic.
I’ll let it go. And stick with Sci Fi commentary when I can.
That’s why I was saying to send people, not
money to these areas. Teach them to help
themselves instead of us shipping them
here and give them what our own people
need. It’s one of the reasons I love Petercats’
strip, it shows what good can be done without
robbing from our own people to give hand-outs
that will just be stolen and the people just as
likely killed. “this is how you dig a well and
pump the water without power or fuel” or
“This is how to build a windmill.”

How the hell is she supposed to actually draw

Realistically, as small as she is,
there’s no other place that she could carry it.
In this case, it was more of an accessory for the wedding,
as was Ahmya wearing the Cherow dagger.

Oh sure, it’s just for looks and making sure all can see
that both Ahmya and Miral are wearing the symbol of
their commitment to each other is worn as a clear show
OF that commitment. I agree, there is a way to draw it,
pulling down on the sheath in the opposite direction.
Awkward, slow, and easily countered. It’s more like a
threat than her getting ready to strike. If you look
closely at P3, Ahmya has her hand on her knife as well.
Also, looking closely at panel two, it looks like if Miral
pulls the handle toward her without a lot of lift,
the scabbard is loose enough behind the angled
strap that it will tilt a bit over her shoulder,
letting her draw in a downward slicing move.
She is carrying it higher than needed,
and the harness is loose, giving her
the wiggle-room to pull it if needed.
It’s not a fast-draw method, but do-able.
Actually, as a curved blade, so long as the draw is WITH the curve,
it’s not only possible, but I personally, have done it. But, it requires
three major factors.
1) The sheath for the blade should be a hard sheath. Flexible leather
will bind the blade, more often than not, on the draw.

Itself is mostly stiff and using a metal ring “frog” to hold the blade. Not
Recommended for blades that you want to hold an edge, as normal

3) if using a hard sheath, the top of the sheath should be on more than
an inch or so above the shoulder, unless the carrier is rigged to the
sheath with a single fulcrum point rith a second, lower short restraint,
allowing a degree of movement to allow the draw safely.
Back draws are not recommended as it makes iajitsu draws impractical.

The biggest was 10mm, that one
they had to go in after.
In P7, over Capt. Bran (such a moving name! 😉 ) shoulder
is a restricted area that screams FTL system controls,
separate from normal ship’s operations.
Panels 3 & 4 – Hmm. Miral looks like she’s prepping to draw. Threats?
