Door’s opening behind Flea. I’m hoping that’s our new young friend
and his sister. Otherwise, there could be trouble.

That’s the door Puppy headed to, I’m sure they will be
ok. It’s when your fighting your way out is when things
can go very wrong. The medivac is right outside and
the boy IS a healer. I’m sure Teresa is keeping a very
close eye on him as well.

Kills me, both Flea and Kathy have such beautiful smiles when
they are beating/shooting the holy crap outta bad guys. I think
the mini-flame thrower from Aliens would be her favorite weapon!

Hang in the Marise, fast-track IS hell, followed by the responsibility
jitters is enough to make anyone feel dead, pity she can’t talk to
Miral, she went through it too. Kima is doing the best thing, give
her attention, listen to her fears and complains, and any TLC she
needs, Don’t worry Marise, the faster you do it, the faster YOU can
do it to others! (evil laughter and sinister grin) 😉

I always did want to teach once Sensei was willing to let me…

Damn girl! Flea! You don’t have to look THAT happy!

I feel for Marise. I went through a couple of NCO schools. The training,
class time, studying, writing, more training, and PT were very similar
to what I am imagining that Marise is going through.
And for that same reason, the school had people (“maids”) that would
come in and clean your room. Vacuum, make bed, clean bathroom – to
make more time for our NCO training. Now, that didn’t mean you could
become a slob. You still had to pick up after yourself, do your laundry,
shine your boots and shoes. I’m glad to see that Kima is stepping in to
assist Marisa in her training. And yes, girl, it will be a long,
difficult, slog, but you’ll make it. And be proud of it.

((PC, do the Imperial military forces have a way that they
informally greet and encourage each other?
Example: in the Army, we say HOOOAH! to each other.
Uncle Sam’s Misguided Children say OOORAH! or SEMPER FI! to each other.
Not sure about Squids and Zoomies))

Ex-zoomie here. Can’t speak for the canoe club but we didn’t have any special greeting
at least that I was ever aware of. You have to realize the AF is probably the least “military”
of the services. It’s more like just a job. Oh we had rank and all but all the units I was
in were pretty laid back. We observed customs and courtesies but beyond that nothing
special. But then, except for skycops we didn’t really have grunts. The AF is all technicians
and managers. It’s just a different vibe. At least until somebody steps out of line. Then
things got more military. My last TDY/deployment I had a 1st Louie giving me shit. One
night when asshole had been ragging for a while I turned to him and said, “Sir. With all due
respect, if you weren’t a 1st Lieutenant and I wasn’t a Staff Sergeant you would be up on
that wall and I would be pounding you! But you are and I am so you aren’t! Now with all due
respect, sir, leave me the f**k alone!” Asshole wrote me a letter of reprimand for being
insubordinate! When I answered the letter, as was my right, I listed occasions where he
had questioned my technical judgement, questioned/belittled my technical competence
      – in front of wittnesses – and had verally counselled (chewed me out) me in the
presence of subordinates. (A huge no-no! Talk about action prejudicial to discipline and
good order!) I even listed wittnesses including a light colonel who was in the room with
me when I told asshole to f off. He told the CO that I showed tremendous self control. If
it had been him the asshole would have been pounded. He also corroborated all the
other infractions of discipline. When the CO called me in to talk about the letter and my
response he told me that having that letter in the records would make him (the CO) look
bad, which it would. He offered to make it go away. “Not good enough”, I replied, “I
want an apology.” The CO offered to call asshole in and make him apologize. “Not good
enough, sir. He did that stuff in front of God and everybody. Any apology has to be public.”
Next night, in front of everyone asshole apologized to me. But he got his last licks in,
he left me to help supervise the clean-up and pack-up post deployment. It didn’t matter.
I had my separation and terminal leave orders in my pocket. 3 work days after I got
back I out processed and started terminal leave. I heard years later asshole got rifted.
      Served him right.

I’m glad you got out of that situation Bill, I hear stories like that all the time,
including from my father. I’m just glad you stood up for yourself and managed
to get away from that a-hole. My father was treated as a deserter only
because he and his parents had moved to a different state and he never got
the draft notice. Even after his parents back him up, MPs took him away and
he was in the stockade until they checked his story. Even when it was confirmed
they still treated him like that, ending with him getting shipped to Korea. “Oh
you’re single now? I have just the place for you!” Yeah he’s bitter…
        “Dear Johned’ and sent overseas.

In every service but the Air Force, an officer picks
some enlisted men and sends them out to get shot at
(or fight a fire on a ship while under fire, etc.)
In the AF, a crowd of enlisted men get the plane ready,
then shove an officer in it to go and get shot at.
        It changes the relationship.

My kid sister’s hubby was AF, water treatment.
          I hear about it often…
Sometimes to tease me since he knows I was 4-F. sigh…

Totally true. In the AF, with the exception of security police and the
miniscule cadre of special forces types (pararescue) all trigger-pullers
are officers. Enlisteds are, for the most part, technicians. Most of
the equipment is sophisticated and very complex electronic gear.
That’s why the minimum AFQT scores for the AF are so damned
high. Gotta be fairly smart to keep the avionics and comm gear
running. I maxed every section of the AFQT.

I hear that, my test scores were high enough, barely.
mostly in the electronics/electrical areas. Just this
damned back, it was the same with the army and
marines, I had skills they wanted, most so the marines
            and my training, but…

    Hi all;
Things seem to be progressing as expected in both story lines.
Wonder how long that will last.
Something like the kid (or his sister) doesn’t want to come?
or (more likely) they want to take someone/something else that isn’t
    easily located/carried.

Another family member maybe? Or a caring peon that was sneaking food?
either way that’ll have to be for another time, if at all. When you’re doing
a “smash and grab” op, the last thing you’ll want is to pick up stragglers.
The zoo crew dropped themselves into a pit of pissed off honey badgers,
NOT a good idea to change the plans like that.

Damned wasp stung me last evening when I was feeding
the cows, I HATE those damn eppy-pens! But better than
calling 911 I guess… I take some benadryl with it to free
up my lungs faster, gets damn hard to breathe. Leg looks
better, just going to stay off my feet just in case.
