Ah, Mr Stanley? I know what a DINING room
is but what is a “dinning” room? 😉

I suspect, that it is a room to make noise in.
      A loud din…

      Say not “bullseye”.
      Instead, say “rabbithole”?

    Exotic….and erotic.

Speaking as an old country hillbilly living in the Burbs, I
have to say this story is reminding me how good wild rabbit
tastes. Having to entertain two ladies simultaneously, Jack
may find out if this holds true in this situation. Assuming
he’s adept at languages, that is, a cunning linguist.

Naa.. that language is easy and instinct-ful.. and mostly gutteral! :p

I was a “townie” for half my life, I LOVE being a “hillbilly!” First
time I laid down to sleep out here, I slept like the dead for the first
time ever. No traffic, no yelling down the block, no street drag races
at 2am, and no gun shots in the distance, I loved it! It’s annoying to
drive 30 mins to the store, but that’s the ONLY issue. Well that and
yelling at the cows to “shut up, I’m mixing your dinner now!” Heh…

Instead of losing points and whingeing about a “defeat”,
perhaps the Colonel could gain points by lauding the
    accomplishments of the students from “his” academy :}

It’s the number one thing a prideful man can’t stand: losing! It
was the main reason a Catain was able to put him 6 ft under. I
suspect the main reason he forgave Wilson was the Lady LIKED the
excitement! (cue thegiggle and coy smile) ;p

Why goth? It’s just her fur coloration, my sister had a guinea pig
that had the very same pattern, although it had a bad hair day since
birth too heh. (sniffs) Is it just me or love IS in the air? We might
be looking at our first cross-species marriage maybe? Tune in next
    time: same bat-time, same bat-channel! (gads I’m so old…)

      Holey bunny fur, Scarsdale!

You ain’t nearly as old as all that. (Oh, wait. I remember that
show too, and I’m getting Medicare policy advertising left and right.)
I guess we might be old after all. Well, I may have to get older,
but nothing says I have to grow up.

The 60s Batman show may have been corny, I’ve also heard campy, but
it was fun, and we kids DID look forward to the next day’s episode.

I don’t know… I have clear memories of talking to my grandmother
on a wall mounted rotary phone, while my father was fiddling with
the tin foil-wrapped rabbit ears on our 12 inch black and white TV
during the pre-launch of Apollo 8, with my mother telling him he
needs to takes some of the tubes inside for testing again…

            $.50 / gal? You’re much younger then I.
I remember the normal price for regular being
$.329 (once got down to $.199 during a “gas war”).

              Gee, thanks…
I even remember 32.9 cents a gallon gas.
Of course, even then, I suspected we would
eventually need to go electric, although I
thought we’d use mini nuke reactors for a
              decades worth of driving…

I can remember sitting in the ’59 Volvo back seat and hear my mother
tell the gas station attendant to fill it up and hand him a dollar…
And hearing my father loudly complain when gas his 62 cents…
When I was in high school on my way home I’d stop at the local
laundry coin-op and buy a pack of cigarettes for 35 cents from
a pull handle vending machine… candy bars were a nickle, a can
            of soda was 20 cents.

Reckon this dates me – I remember talking on
Grandmother’s phone mounted on the wall –
It had the microphone mounted on the box and the receiver
was on a cord which hung off the switch hook.
You had to tell the operator the number you wanted to call.
I won’t even get started on the party line of 6-7 folks.
And the door bell was a twist thing to make it ring.
Loved – totally loved the gas war and 0.19 per gallon.
Saved a ton of money driving an hour each way to in my ‘
65 Beetle to Commerce, TX from Sherman . . .
    (Made it 83 yesterday.)

Hi Ned, I’m like you. A wall mount phone, crank handle for ringing.
Receiver on the connect hook. Farm party line. Our call number was
Coldstream 12 ring 1-7. A long and three shorts.
Phone had a dry cell battery backup I think 9 volts
in a round style of battery.
Happy belated b’day. I’ll be 81 in Sept.

I’m only 63 but I can’t believe how many people out there think cell
phones have always been a thing, or when recording anything meant a
big bulky reel-to-reel machine with a microphone the size of a softball.

saw a video, about an escape room, no one got out.
cuz the final clue was to call a number on a rotary phone.

Should make it a joke, (in a deep gruff growly voice),
“YES, I RODE DINOSAURS. YES, IT WAS FUN. AND THEY ALSO
TAUGHT ME HOW TO TEAR APART AND EAT RUDE CHILDREN.
              RAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!”
              Then lunge for them.

It was 2 “A” cells, 1.5 volts each. Bigger than the lantern
batteries from when I was a boy. They were still in use when
I was a boy, my father had a few to start his model airplane
motor. One was in the center of the top, the +, – was on the
edge of the top, and both had threaded posts for nuts to
clamp on any wires you wanted to use it with.

line so call an ambulance he clanged 2 pots together
into the phone until they hung up.
