Nice when you don’t have to depend solely on words to discern
your opponent’s motives. Words can lie. Smell/pheromones don’t.

My Sensei taught us to read the body and eyes, it was to
anticipate their next move but your average person can’t
hide their true feeling from their body movements. Averted
head or eyes can mean a lie or an unvoiced truth for example.

A shift in balance can mean they are either afraid or getting
ready to attack/run. I was fast but he was a blur and not afraid
to show it heh. So we had to learn or bounce off the mat…

Yeah, Capt Mike does indeed understands the Empire, I
hope he does get “the duty” of running the CSA, or at
least has a future say in the decisions!

Hmmm… Maybe Slimy’s starting to understand, I hope he
can calm that pilot enough to get his answer. We all know
it but the pilot was too scared to think like that.

I’m with Flame. 2 to 1 Slimy goes hostile since he
really doesn’t believe the Empire to be that strong

yeah,. IF he goes hostile, hopefully he goes public,
and in front of the Queen. and she takes care of it.
so we get to see her “bad” side.. o.0

I’d love to see that, but I think his
blustering will backfire in the end.
        The Hammerheads do come off
as being cowardly in person, so it
may not come up until he reports back

Slimy does seem to starting to understand the Catians,
but he might think it’s a weakness to be exploited.
It’s not, but he and the rest of the core might…

Hate to beat a dead horse, but the Empire was not attacked. One of its citizens
was horribly abused, but that citizen was giving aid and comfort to soldiers that
were at war with the CSA. This is not the same as the Waukandans raiding farms
on the Empire frontier. War is a stupid waste of lives and resources, and asshats
that make it necessary deserve the worst they can get, but to most of the world
this will look not like the Empire is responding to an attack, but to an insult and,
at best, a war crime atrocity.

I think we can confirm at this point that the Hammerheads are akin to something
more like slugs than to sharks. Not predators. Of course, when orca enter waters
with great whites, the sharks leave, quickly.

CSA was attacking Waukanda and still was after it became part of the
Empire, so they beefed up the boarders and slowed their advances.
That poor pilot was the last straw is all. It’s not the first time the Empire
has had to change the people governing a kingdom because of this.
The easiest way to prevent a war is to show it’s going to be costly to
      either side.
It is excessive, but if a wasp nest that results in many people getting
stung and causing damage, do you ignore it, or spray the nest. letting
the survivors to move to a better place for all. I’m deathly allergic, so
it’s a serious issue in my case.

Clarification: Waukanda is not a part of the Wolf Empire (yet?) but they are on very
close and friendly terms. Since their King and Queen are both former Legionnaires,
as well as friends of Robert and Madea’s, I suspect that eventually they will ask to
join. I suspect they want to make sure that Waukanda is fully stable, first, to enter
as a true equal to the other Kingdoms and not a poorer brother.

Ah, I misunderstood the situation then, I had assumed they had joined
right away. It does make sense, to reduce the burden on the Empire.
Just friends or members, torturing a person just for giving aid to a friend,
then beheading them and bragging about it in the worse way possible
does deserve more than a political complaint. Otherwise they will just
          keep doing it and worse.

It helps that Waukenda wants to improve their commercial and educational base.
The Empire is helping where they can, for just one example, they’re sending
metals from asteroid mining to a foundry to be cast and forged, then to a
            machine shop for finishing.
It’s a point of pride that every engine pivot in the Dragonflies and Locusts is
manufactured in Waukenda. Lots of ammunition is coming out of their new
plants as well, although they’re not quite up to caseless yet.

      “not attacked”?

What else would you call being captured, tortured, beheaded?

A rural gang of ruffians do that, send in the Legion.

Someone hiding in a palace, send in your military.

As Captain Mike said, a message to all that the Empire protects its own.

Cap’t Mike for president. He won’t take it, but…..
The pilot didn’t answer Slimy’s question though.

He won’t want it, but like the saying goes, the best
man for the job isn’t the one that wants it.

The pilot was totally freaked out, and that was what
Capt. Chardis was after 🙂 The core view the Catains
as primitives, so acting the part for a few gives them
pause, If this short, chubby, old man was acting that
way they’d fall down laughing! I know I would heh.

Looking at the Hammerhead’s design, it reminds me a lot
of several lizard faces with the snout retracted, and without
scales. Their coloration says a dry, arid climate and a
ambush predictor, hiding in the rocks and sand to hunt.
That would explain the aggressive, panicky behavior, they
want to attack, but are afraid of being hurt or made a meal
of. So not much different than the Grasseaters, only the diet.
Except the lizard will rear up and bite first, run away if it
doesn’t work. I see that in all three of the Hammerheads here.
