Can someone reference the beginning of the incident where the Pride destroyed a sting ship
with an energy weapon? For the life of me I cannot recall the Pride ever using an energy weapon.
I’d like to go back and refresh my memory. All I ever recall Empire ships using are grav propelled
projectiles.
President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal B Woodman Domestic Violent Extremist SuperStraight
Hemorrhoid Hammerhead THINKS it was an energy weapon that destroyed
the sting ship. No one outside the Wolf (Dragon?) Empire is aware of the
gravitation space drive and its parallel use as a weapon system.
It was, they couldn’t get a missile lock, besides they look
and act like conventional weapons The Empire is very
careful about displaying the real might of the Empire.
Love the nickname by the way, fits veeerrry well.
Actually (at least as I read it), they took out the SS ship just fine. Then the missile changed course so they destroyed that too. It was the debris from the missile that hit them.
That is true, I forgot that part, thanks, and says a lot about the size
and speed of that missile. She took a pretty serious hit from that
debris. Luckily the Pride doesn’t use fusion reactors to power it or it
could have been much worse. Powerless in hostile space is never good.
Captain Mike gets it, and maybe he’s done with the CSA’s
government as well. Careful Babydoll, a lot can happen in
an hour!
Good, they are pushing the might of the Empire, maybe it’ll
give the core a reason to rethink how it’s been behaving.
I still think there’s going to be an epic battle at some point,
they won’t simply stand down and make friends. Too many
hundreds of years have passed for them to just give in like
that. The greedy are never simply satisfied with what they
have now.
I believe the wording was:”We have sealed the mansion.”
Somehow I don’t think the bigwigs even get the chance to abandon ship >:-)
(and let others take the blame (as usually done))
“sealing the mansion” Just means that if anyone tries to leave…
swiss cheese… There may be a way into the police bunker under
the building, but it wouldn’t take much to block that and run away
(by the police). Forcing that corrupt government to stand and
face their deserved fate. I’ve tried several emojies for that and
none seem to work, I just place a smile and evil laughter… 😉
Muahahahah!
That’s the evil (in a good way) way the Empire works.
While the Empire would like a change in the CSA’s government, they don’t want
to be the aggressor and start a war. Retrieving the body of a fallen soldier is
something people understand and some show of force if the soldier was obviously
tortured as well. It’s a warning to everyone. Going to war with the Empire is ok,
but please stay civilized. I.e. no torture and so on.
What they are doing here? They leave it to the locals if they want to save their
big heads or not. If they don’t, the CSA gets a new government, which might be
less antagonistic. Maybe more open to trade or as we have seen before even
willing to become a Kingdom within the Empire.
As we have also seen, there are a lot of benefits that come with the latter.
I would say this op is way to public for them to be able
to down-play what happened in this manner. I suspect
if they don’t kill any of the CSA government, they will still
level the building in a slow and visible way for all to enjoy.
Teresa’s message will be very clear: “If you EVER do this
again, I will darken the sky with my wrath!”
The Empire forces have surrounded the building, trapping
everyone inside. Babydoll is letting the police leave and
only the police. I’m sure once they are out Babydoll will
blast the exit so no once else can leave that way. Or at
least have a guard on it until the talking is done.
Actually, per panel #2, Empire forces are evacuating civilians from the area around the target and allowing
the police to assist in that effort. I would expect a surgical kinetic energy weapon strike. Depending upon
the accuracy of the KEWs the empire could achieve total destruction within an extremely limited area. The
problems with KEWs in the pieces I’ve read were always related to the accuracy with which the weapons
Acould be delivered. Jerry Pournelle’s original idea involved telephone-pole-sized tungsten rods dropped from
orbit. A 50 lb block of concrete attached to a grav head and dropped from an attack craft hovering at 20k – 30k
feet and accelerating at a few hundred ft/sec/sec could be highly accurate and still deliver a massive kinetic
punch.
If my math (and the physical formulae beneath it) is correct
a 50 lbs missle dropped at 30 000 ft and accelerating at 100 ft/s/s
would be roughly equivalent to 2.6 kT of TNT.
They took off my wife’s bandage yesterday it looks way
better than my first cancer scar so hopefully she’ll still
wear shorts this summer, I think she’ll be home sometime
next week, I’ve got to get busy reworking our bedroom
and the rest of the house to make it safer for her, She’s
always been a bit clumsy and with her brittle bones I’m
not risking it again.
I hope she wouldn’t let a scar keep her from wearing shorts.
I once knew a petite little Chinese waitress who had a huge
burn scar that covered her entire arm, and she wore short
sleeve blouses.
I overhead a customer ask her if it had hurt (kinda stupid question).
She smiled at him and replied, “It was terrible…”
“But it made me stronger.”
Tough little lady. I really admired her.
My wife was sadly very vain when we first got together,
refused to wear her glasses when she was near-sighted
etc… Took my getting stung by a bee (I’m allergic) and my
having to drive home swelled up and half awake to break
her of that alone.
When we moved to a new place she had an entire
large box of shoes, most she only wore once. Shortly
after we were married she saw this rabbit fur coat she
just HAD to have (she was 20 at the time) and only wore
it once, when I got tired of seeing in the closet I asked
her why, “It sheds I don’t like that” (face-palm). It’s fur!
These days (I hope) she’s gotten out of those bad habits
but time will tell…
Yeah, he’s leaving them to their fate, it’s their fault
that the Empire is all over his town threatening
everyone he’s suppose to protect. I’d be in the
same state, YOU did this YOU pay the price! Leave
the rest of us alone!
Locals cooperating with the “invasion” force to evac civilians is
gonna be some wonderful optics!
>We are aware of how the Pride defended itself.
Hammmer just can not get out of his little rut that everyone should
just automagically kowtow to the power he represents. Let alone
that “power” not being un-opposed any more :}
Slimon is getting “schooled” on that very subject right now,
that the core is no longer going to get away with murder
anymore. He and the core don’t like it, but The Queen and
the Empire are calling them on the dribbling BS that’s coming
from their mouths.
It’s just another nail in the coffin, but the lid is nearly nailed
down!
I feel the day will come when Teresa is old and grey and
finally steps down as Empress, That the Empire has become
vast and powerful.
Able to prevent any evil doing at home and in space everywhere.
All peaceful races as equal members of the interstellar Empire…
As close to a utopia as possible. Then she can retire knowing that
her and the good people that has helped to create this huge
interstellar Empire that no longer needs her guidance to survive.
With a smile and a tiny sigh, she turns off the light to sleep and
to start a new day…
I don’t think that any of us are particularly enamored of monarchy. Any government can be a monster.
Liberal “democracies” have not shown themselves to be any more friendly to liberty than old style
monarchies or modern dictatorships. Read Federalist Papers #51 where Hamilton wrote “[W]hat is
government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government
would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government
would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great
difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place
oblige it to control itself.” Pure democracy is but mob rule writ large. “The rule of law” may be a myth but the
closer men hew to that standard the better for the most people. What we have today is an oligarchy of
people who consider themselves superior to the common man and therefor entitled to dictate to the hoi
polloi how to live their lives.
No safeguards that will last more than a generation or two are
possible. Dictator, Monarchy, Republic, Democracy…
The type of government only determines how quickly it falls.
The quality of its leadership determines if and when it falls.
There is a Chinese woman with a Dragonfly companion who has
been living for over two hundred years and is still alive.
So, who knows?
I never said anything about what or who would take over for Teresa,
and I have little doubt she’ll be hundreds of years old when she does
retire.
I just felt that when the day comes that she knows she’s done enough,
and what comes after she’s gone will be handled in the best way
possible without her wisdom or interference…
President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neanderthal B Woodman Domestic Violent Extremist SuperStraight
“Old and gray…”
I have to wonder how many years/generations of us “normies” that would be?
IIRC Teresa has dragon and healing power, so, I’m assuming that will extend her lifespan.
But buy how much?
They showed she was “over 200 years old” at the time
of her picture, not that she’s past away. For all we know
she’s still very much alive and still looked like 50. Testing
someone’s life expectancy is hard when it spans many
generations.
That’s what I meant, there is no such thing as an over-all utopia,
there will always be someone or group that hates it. No government
lasts forever, and none tried has ever been truly successful. History
proves that. “Utopia’ is a personal thing, not a blanket situation. I
feel that no real government is the best option, but the fundamental
thoughts of every citizen is to live in peace with each other, no
aggression towards another except in defense. I know it won’t ever
happen, too many predators and prey.

When the Pride was leaving Xanadu, a security ship
suddenly opened fire and they had to use the tail beam.
http://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-1019/
Went back to re-read those two pages. Didn’t realize at the time that the Pride got shot in the ass 😛 (ok, so it was debris…)
Yeah that SS ship was too close to safely hit without the debris
hitting the Pride, but better to take a few dings that let them
seize it.
Actually (at least as I read it), they took out the SS ship just fine. Then the missile changed course so they destroyed that too. It was the debris from the missile that hit them.

I’m not quite sure what they’re trying to achieve here,
but usually if you give somebody time to evacuate, it’s
the big heads that get out first.
I believe the wording was:”We have sealed the mansion.”
Somehow I don’t think the bigwigs even get the chance to abandon ship >:-)

That was supposed to be an evil smile. Hmm, better luck next time…

The local police might have a different view on their own
government – I don’t think we quite know that yet.
Also, they might feel to have the duty to protect them?
On a side note: they’re police, right?
Shouldn’t a military operation like the one just happening
be the job of like the military?
Patience, everybody, patience.
That’s the evil (in a good way) way the Empire works.

Too bad that, “the mansion will be leveled n an unfortunate natural gas explosion”
Control the media, control the naritive.

Also, half a kilometer is quite some safety distance.
You don’t need that if it’s just about a few flash-bangs.
The blast zone is pretty small.
It’s the falling debris that has a half-kilometer radius.
The Empire forces have surrounded the building, trapping
everyone inside. Babydoll is letting the police leave and
only the police. I’m sure once they are out Babydoll will

It sounds like he intends to leave them in that bunker.

I know that you’re all big fans of monarchy …
But that’s be the time when the Empire will have to prove
that it can handle this without the next ruler to turn it into a

Don’t forget every person Teresa’s circle has a dragonfly companion.
she’ll never truly be alone, but will miss her family and friends that
do not.
So far, Teresa, Kathy, Mr. Walker, Tabitha and that one Marine. There may be more,
but bonded pairs are pretty rare.
The Empire will never be any kind of utopia. It was designed to only be as
good as it’s citizens make it.
That’s what I meant, there is no such thing as an over-all utopia,
