My hats off to King Garion he has plans in plans here Tenshi and Carl will make good friends
and maybe business partners? Either way it’ll be good for the both of them all thing considered.
The horned ones are starting to realize just how much the Catians have achieved in a few years
and that pressure and manipulation will not work anymore I’d say their place on the counsel is
assured once this gets out.And I’d say the wolf/dragon empire is about to become a major player
in the interplanetary game out there!
Way to tie it up in a nice bow Petercat! đ
So far, given their lack of knowledge of the Wolf Empire, and what they now deduce as their ill informed lack of knowledge of the Catian’s, what The Horned Ones are seeing is all Catian, and from their perspective, based off the resource of one planet.
What they may learn while on the Catian station and the Planet visit, is another thing, depending on what sort of intelligence they will be fed.
The other issue of course, is given the variation of Space going Races on the Station and the Planet, is what feedback and information, useful or otherwise, they do get.
That would also reveal the Catian’s now have a King, which means they are unified, and the also have a strong relationship with another, as yet unknown, Space going Empire.
One with sufficient wealth, resource and goodwill, to assist in the funding and expansion of the Catian empire, as a joint exercise and partnership, to a level that competes or exceeds with the Core Worlds.
The cat has just landed among the pigeons. Life will only get interesting from here on in. And yes, hat’s off to Petercat, whichever way this goes.
Pigeons are mean birds too I watched a stray cat catch one and 12 more attacked it not nearly as mean as chickens
we had a rooster that would spur anyone he could needless to say he made a tasty dinner LOL.
This is just the beginning of the public reveal of the Wolf Empire what comes next is clearly up to the core members
and of course PC’s story outline đ
(Bows to the master) đ
For some people it takes longer for the penny to drop, but I’m sure they will get there.
After all, they are used to deal only with easily cowed and pressured fringe worlds.
Interesting. There is a factor I overlooked. Of course not all fringe worlds signed up with
the Empire. Let’s see what they do after the Empire proofs it’s good intentions and is
able to defy the Core Worlds.
Yes, plans within plans – I didn’t see that coming!
The horned ones now have enough pieces of the puzzle
so let’s see how much of the picture they put together
I’m tipping they realize the cats are trading with the
fringe worlds and possibly that have formed an empire
with them but not that the Terrans lead it or that the
terrans come from Earth.
Then there is the question of if they can get the
information back in time to affect the council votes.
Similarly will the fact finding expedition to the
Dogishuans be able to get the information that that
world is no longer defenseless and is out from under
their thumb in time.
I am tipping no in both cases and the fringe worlds
outvoting the core comes as a surprise (to the core
worlds) so the cats get classed as a new species and
given a seat on the council.
I am a bit worried about the Dogishuans in this since there hasn’t been much time to fortify their
planet as well but hopefully what they have will be enough with maybe backup from either the
Catains or Terrans? Either way it’ll be a test for the Wolf Empire to defend their newest member.
Think of a space based Carrier group. The Core Worlds likley haven’t fought a planetary war in
recent history. Tactically, it’s unlikely they could mount a Space based Carrier Group equivalent.
In order to put sufficient Military assets into the Dogishuans system, the Core Worlds would have
to use a Space Based Carrier group equivalent, even just a smnall one, as they have no alternative
planets to rely on for logistical support, in the Dogishuans system.
The problem with that sort of power projection over great distance is that you must then defend
that carrier group, as well as bring all of your tactical and field supplies, or have the ability
to resupply, without challenge.
From what we have seen of the Wormhole technology, this is a non starter. As yet unknown to the
Core World, the tactical problem they have yet to discover, is they have no resupply capability,
or at best, a very limited one, and they have no defensible positions.
The Core World will only have brute force and movement as their primary tactical options.
That’s not an option for a Carrier Group.
Worse still, It’s a poor option in a heavily defended system for any other Force projection,
such as a strike force unit, as the Core World are more than well matched, courtesy of the
Wolf Empire. There is no place to run and hide effectively in the Dogishuans system for the
Core World.
So tactically and financially, the likley first foray by the Core World, would be to send a
small Battleship group, or equivalent.Unless they have good intelligence otherwise, this
would be based on the assumption that the Dogishuans system is not defended, or not well
defended, and a simple orbital strike will suffice to bring things back under Core World
control.
Unfortunately for the Core Worlds, the Dogishuan’s system now has a fully defended habitual
planet, with the full War resources of a defend planet, and the local resources of the
Dogishuan local Planetary system.
All this, replete with their own System Navy. The tactical and military advantageous goes
to the Dogishuans.
Regardless of whether the Core Worlds foolishly engage the Dogishuan’s in their own defend
planetary system, or quickly cut and run, or do something else stupid, which is on the cards,
the only battle weakness that would come into play and that the Dogishuan system currently
faces, is their own off world personnel, both Civil and Military, scattered over hostile
territories.
Should the Dogishuan’s system and the Catian’s fail to act promptly, then the Dogishuans
inside of the control of the Core Worlds would become hostages.
This then means that the quiet evacuation of the bulk of those Dogishuan personnel to non
Core World location/s is the top priority. Once that is achieved, they can be repatriated
back to the Dogishuans system, or more preferably, used in the oncoming War and Empire
building effort.
The current Dogishuans Privateers can then easily be retrained within several weeks to
staff the Wolf Empire’s captured Core World and other Vessels, with the goal being to
provide additional military security for the Dogishuans system.
This also means the excess Dogishuan privateers can then be commandeered into the Catian
Space Navy as Dogishuan Navy volunteers.
As for the Dogishuan Civilians, I would put all able bodied, non military grade personnel
to work in the Catian/Wolf Empire effort to expand their civil and military resources.
All while training them up in those roles.
This is a tactical Win/Win situation for the Catian and Wolf Empire, as they suddenly get
more warm bodies loyal to the cause, and the Dogishuan’s get trained personnel, both
military and civil, which will benefit the Dogishuan’s enormously, both short and long
term, as it’s obvious the Dogishuan’s are being kept on a very short technological,
scientific and Civil/Social leash.
This would then reduce the Catian/Wolf Empire’s resource and defense requirement,
while also potentially attracting any other race/s that also want to be free of
the Core Worlds, or want’s to join the Catian / Wolf Empire.
Potentially, like NATO, but in space, and with far more chooser principal partners,
and a better class of membership.
Oh I know they are the Empire has gone from a modified LP tank to a fleet of cargo/fighters/carriers
in just a few years and the lag from port travel puts any attacker at a disadvantage on many levels I
have many scenarios running through my head for weeks now without a huge amount of support
ships with them any core fleet that comes through would be confetti in short order. Mines and automated
missile launchers would remove the need of a large fleet very quickly.
However the Wolf Empire isn’t just going to kill anything that comes through first unless full on war is
declared it’s not how they work they give the aggressors the chance to stand down first then attack
if needed.
Dogishuan people haven’t had much time to prepare and they have very limited heavy metals so it’s a
matter of how much trading and planning as much as “dogpower” they have on hand I recall their King
was saying their population was kept low because of their limited resources and crop-capable land.
They identified 11 warships, 27 other contacts and compared Catia to a hub system that’s bigger than anything they have in a Core System.
For all the talk about the size of the Core World’s fleet I think that’s more from the point of view from people with few or no ships themselves.
Say your ‘fleet’ is made up out of 5 frigates, one dreadnought would rip them apart. From the looks of it, no one had anything to beat a dreadnought.
So, the ships involved in the know space here might not number so many. Leaving of course the question of how many ships the Core Worlds had mothballed.
Or did they dismantle them because they thought they didn’t need them anymore.
Even if they mothballed many, it takes time to train the crews and bring these ships back into service. Until then, they are just floating targets.
And then there is the fact that it looks like the Wolf Empire has the edge in technology. Again, the Core Worlds could have better technology,
but it takes time to upgrade the old ships.
As I mentioned in a thread below, the main question is, will the Core Worlds and the Corporations work together
Considering what they told King Rex, I doubt they have time to report back.
That sounded like they are ready for the war to start as soon as they
arrive at Xanadu. Which was several days ago, maybe even a week.
King Ganion has great plans for Red. If she knew about them
today, she would call it subversion or brainwashing. In a year
she might realize what a narrow minded bitch she had been before.
Do the Core Worlds have anyplace where species mingle and work
together like that? Peaceful coexistence seems like quite a
shock to them :}
I suspect you’re right they do seem to favor racism and have a low opinion of any race that has
limited resources/tech as far as the mixing I kinda doubt outside of their counsel groups.
“The biggest stick” rule seems to hold true there. Basically the first races to get passed the industry
stage to space fairing has the biggest stick… for now as the Wolf Empire is showing them the gav
tech has given the Wolf Empire a HUGE advantage… again for now…
Don’t forget the Chinese are also trying to develop the gav tech I see a HUGE issue with that down
the road for all to discover!
It might be the simple fact that they see some people from the Fringe
Worlds that are not supposed to have space capability at all or very
little. Not enough to send people here without a very good reason.
As far as the transit lag from gate travel goes it’s been said that the slower you enter
the faster the lag recovery happens and since tech assets recover faster than soft assets
it would make sense to have shielding kick on asap but the gav guns cancels out that
advantage rather quickly if not messily lol. I do not see an all-out war happening maybe
a few ill-thought out attacks and then some hard negotiations afterwards.
With the Wolf Empire making sweeping changes in the whole know universe!
Correct.
Regardless of whether the Core Worlds storm in, or sneak in, once they are in the Dogishuanâs system, there on their own. It matters little about initial shields or any other defense, or slow transitâs.
Once a hostile Core World vessel has been confirmed, which would be Sixty to Eighty percent of the time, as they would be well known, then they become a target.
The Catians have far greater battlefield reach and punch. As has already been shown, a few Catian fighters are more than capable of taking out a small battle group. This without deploying the Anti Grav tech.
Should the Core Worlds deploy an unknown vessel, or multiple vessels, then your back to my original assessment. Youâve got in, youâve scattered, but then your going to be hunted down.
Then the Core Worlds are back to the âHit, Run and Hideâ approach.
However, again, back to my original assessment, while that would be annoying for the Dogishuanâs and need a medium to Long Term solution for the Catianâs and the Wolf Empire, the fundamental problem for the Core Worlds, is in order to cause any damage, they have to get close to a worthy Dogishuan target.
As for flushing the Core World Recon groups out, the old World War Two bait trick, which was to camouflage a pile of scrap and start a smoke fire in it, draws out the idiots.
While they are lighting up what they think is an idle tank, or stationary small vehicle convoy, the ambush Group introduce themselves, in force.
The only difference here is that you would need a pile of Space Junk, looking like something serious, like a battle platform, or war vessel parked in orbit, emitting a heat source.
A few concealed fighters is all it takes to maintain that trap. (Think infantry ambush/combat Platoon) However, in space, for large scale hostiles, itâs back to remote activation of your Mines and Missiles as the ambush group confirm a hostile target.
Any other unknown target within the Mil Zone can be buzzed by a couple of fighters. If they donât pass muster, then there captured or destroyed.
So, still, the Dogishuanâs, in their own system, have the tactical advantage. The Catianâs and Wolf Empireâs only threat would be a large scale invasion.
Thatâs tactically difficult, it takes quite a lot of planning and resource and is impossible to keep quiet.
The Wolf Empire would soon know if that level of resource was being assembled and/or deployed.
Also, the obvious target of such a tactic would also be the Catian home-world, first, otherwise the Core World would tip their hand, which would be a serious tactical mistake.
Also, for the Core Worldâs, thatâs best case scenario without the Wolf Empire being involved in any fashion.
So far, the Wolf Empire have yet to demonstrate any true War-fighting capability with the Anti Grav Tech. They have yet to seriously step up their War Fighting capabilities.
Once that starts, the Wolf Empire will have by far and away, a Battle Field superior advantage.
Even just with the Anti Grav tech, and their superior reach, this equalizer would reduce the likelihood of the Core World putting up large fleets or attempting to âslug it outâ, as they would quickly lose, or be badly mauled, in any such engagement.
Unfortunately for the Core Worlds, this means they are reduced to âHit and Runâ tactics on smaller or unprotected targets.
So far, Guerrilla warfare isnât something the Core Worlds have demonstrated a working knowledge of.
So, sweeping changes, yes, but letâs not forget, there are a lot of Space Faring races out there.
Once the Core World monopoly is negated or reduced, as history has shown, not everybody joins the winning side.
As has already been pointed out, Racism and/or Speciesism is also rife. How many Races and groups will go their own way, creating new problems for everybody, as they go?
The question is, will the Core Worlds and the Corporations work together?
They said that Catia has more traffic than a Core World. That means the fleets involved are not that big. From that point of view, no fleet from a single Core World will beat the flotilla the Wolf Empire left with he Dogishuan’s. Not considering how gate travel works. And that’s without reinforcements or independent missile platforms in position.
And that’s on which everything hinges. How will the Core Worlds and the involved Corporation will react. On one side, some may react as fast as possible to sack the Fringe Worlds for themselves. On the other, without the mutual protection treaty the ones moving first might find themselves under attack by another Core World.
If they work together the Wolf Empire will inflict heavy losses, but probably loose.
If someone panics and acts first?
Which may one reason for their ‘diplomatic’ mission to Xanadu. Make someone panic and act first.
Given, it’s just a guess, but it does look like there are too many ships around in general.
When I read Garion’s words in panel 1 suddenly I could hear the intro
