I saw this yesterday and had to share:
If you can fire 75% of Twitter’s workforce and it works better
imagine what you could do to the federal government.

      December 30, 2023, 00:45 | # | Reply

Sadly, that’s true for every walk of life. It goes for governments too.
Like Scotty said to McCoy when they stole the Enterprise: “The more
you take up the drain, the easier it is to stop it up.” Meaning the
more parts you have, the easier it is to screw things up. Famous last
words: “NOOO! NOT THAT ONE!!!” heh…

Imagine how much better the world would work if we fired 50% of the
      world’s workforce.

Really Teresa? “Inqui-debate?” It’s called questioning πŸ˜› Julia’s not dumb,
hell all the hairs on the back of my neck would go up if I heard that and
I didn’t hack into any data-base… Granted she might need a lesson in
“butt-out 101” but that poor girl is going to be twitchy for weeks after this!
    Heh…

I had a hunch they were going to have to be sneaky about it, Motha’s
bureaucracy would make a huge mess even if they didn’t care about
who they got. Like hiring a building construction crew to remove a press
that weighed 15 ton and replacing it with a 20 ton when none of them
had a clue how to do any of it! Railroad jacks and old railroad ties ISN’T
    the right equipment.

      Speaking of wrong equipment…
Once, when I was young and dumb(er) I was working under my
car while it was on a pair of jackstands… in the dirt.
I had my legs sticking out in front.
And then, I noticed the oil pan begin to move sideways.
My friends said that I was standing up in front of the
car when it hit the ground.

Heh, been there, it’s amazing how fast your backside can walk you
out from under! In my case it was the old bumper jack on gravel,
when I was working on a ’72 Toreno for a buddy of mine. I was
changing out the fuel pump and it was the same thing, the engine
was moving sideways so I grabbed the oil pan and shoved myself
sideways while my butt did the rest.

I remembered another close call, this time it was my father
and he didn’t “butt-walk” instead he was under his 142 Volvo
replacing a bad U-joint and he forgot to take it out of gear,
chock the wheels, and set the parking brake. I was standing
by handing him tools when there was a “crack” and my father
started grunting while the car was creeping forward. He called
out for me to set the brake but it was too late and I couldn’t
open the car door, so I jammed my knee under the front bumper
and pushed with all my might while he crawled out and ran
around to set it… That REALLY hurt too. Left a dent just above
my knee that took days to fade. It was the only time he admitted
        my workouts paid off πŸ˜‰

I remember in the “good old days” when the Soviet Union
had 2 official newspapers. The names of those papers were
Pravda (“Truth”) and Izvestya (“News”). The saying in the
old USSR was, “In Pravda there is no Izvestya. In Izvestya
there is no Pravda.” At least those people knew they were
being gaslighted! I saw a meme yesterday with a slight
variation. The word was “Gaza-lighting”. I’ll let you figure
out what’s being done and by who.

Oh they knew, which was why Vodka was
so readily available to the masses…
Kept them too drunk to care…
“In Mother-Russia, the Vodka drinks YOU!”
        Nasty stuff…

I remember after Viktor Belenko defected to the West (with his
shiny MiG-25) there was a discussion about how there was
supposedly no such thing as “alcoholism” in the Soviet Union.
When someone defined “alcoholic” to Belenko he is reputed to
have exclaimed that they were describing half the men in the
USSR! Little know fact, the Soviets (and Russians to this day)
used pure ethanol as coolant in their aircraft. Another fact:
said coolant “evaporates” very quickly. Imagine using Everclear
as coolant!? According to what I’ve read online, 96%-97% is as
pure alcohol as is practical. The stuff sucks water out of the
atmosphere such that you can never get it more pure than that.

Yes, the max level a friend has ever got out of his still was 96%
and that was using something he called a “re-brewer” on the
top of his still, it has a copper mesh so it causes the alcohol
fumes to condense in it and be recooked. From what I’ve read,
I gather Russian vodka is roughly 150 proof, or 75% ethanol.
That makes the 100 proof whisky/bourbon I used to drink seem
            like coolaid!

By the way, in the 40’s and 50’s, that was what
was used in the USA as anti-freeze! Which explains
why car fires were common back then…

There was a TV show called “Kung-Fu” that did the same thing,
Only in this case it was a wise and kind man that kicked butt
when he had to in the old west. While teaching good people
that you didn’t have to. The stupid thing was it’s wasn’t “Kung-Fu”
he was using, more like a mixture of Judo and Karate.

Not yet, I’ve been out all day.
I’m building another art computer, and it has a remote power switch.
The front is a solid plank of 1/4β€³ walnut, and it looks kind of boring.
So I was in Hobby Lobby, looking for something dark and Gothic to
decorate it with. Just an accent, mind you.
There was a tall, slender girl there who reminded me of Tabitha,
the original model for the Cat Girl, Tabitha.
She helped me with ideas, and helped me pick out something
suitable. I’ll post photos when it’s finished.
It was a very good day.

          I wish I could, but I was being creepy-old-man
enough just asking her for advice.
I don’t think it would have been wise to ask
her for a photo. Didn’t even get her name.
She was a very pleasant young lady, and intelligent,
as well. Pretty much like the original Tabitha.
