As expected, something stinks… Unfortunately, the Human ambassador
is correct, to a point. Although their base Genetics ARE Human, they
have been altered in such a way that they breed true with each other,
but are incapable of breeding with Humans. At worst, they have the
same connection with Humans as we have with Chimpanzees. More likely,
they would be considered an Uplifted species, and, due to the rather
horrific nature of how their “parent” species treated them, any kind
of “Debt” they would have needed to repay their “parents” would likely
be considered null and void. Thus, they are an independent Species…
The way I read it Ambassador Mitchel has held the human seat for a
long time and despite being from Lamia he is loyal to the core (and
old school Lamia).
Thus he is honestly passing on the information from the new president
of Lamia but he is also passing that information to the core.
Thus two weeks ago (when the ship arrived from Lamia) the core
learned of the Wolf Empire so it has less time than they anticipated
before the Core Strikes Back.
This Mitchell bit will do something they don’t know yet; if they are
treated as new species and are added to the counsel and the humans
are still on the counsel so they can exert the same dominance they
have been for a very long time then the Catians won’t be able to get
much done they’ll be mired in political double-talk and will be
treated as a minor member just like new senators are in the USA
senate. Catians are cutting heavily into their business so it’s why
the humans are considering it at all! This way they can use the
counsel to help them put controls on the Catains activities.
ok.. i am seeing this a little different,. (as such, i could be
completely wrong).. i am seeing no human on the council for a
while (no one liked them),. BUT when the Empire / Catian helped
Lamia get a new prez, ‘Aadam Hitarn’ an Loria Bushear,,. and
found out the “end play”,. they (Lamia) quickly put a friendly
‘ambassador’ on the council to help them get a seat.. i also
think Mitchell came up with this idea (separate seat) on his own,
as to have two votes instead of one…
that’s similar to my thoughts he’s “letting” them join but to only
use them to maintain the human’s position on the council and slow
the Catians rapid grown in trade and the empire everything I see
about the core humans is both sly and dangerously crafty I see a
lot of the far left in this bunch.

Time for Empress Teresa to put on her regal robes and “execute”
(figuratively now, possibly literally later) judgement on a
heinous murder case. Easy to say from our outside vantage point.
But for her, as a teen, she has to consider life, death, justice
for EVERYONE, balance, and society. Not easy. My sympathies.
When the fab 5 (Matt an wife, king, walker, sheriff lam) were
planning for the fall, (which came early) they planned on the
kids (woof pack) taking over when they retired. but the kids
did such a good job,, they let them take over sooner..
She was 13 at the start but the timeline is kinda fuzzy
I want to say she’d be late teens? Early 20’s?
The Empire has spread and added a lot of the failed
nations to the Empire that can’t happen that fast.
It doesn’t take much strength to be left with someone. It takes strength to
then live up to whatever that someone expects of you, and Sandy and Taritha
left before they saw how well that worked out. Poor, poor Seb.
The “Arachna friend” is probably the best person to help us understand what
she meant by “new species”. She may have been unaware the humans created
the Catians, or have never seen one before and not known what they looked
like. But still, it seemed to either mean she thought they might be a species
new to Xanadu or new to “known civilization”, and that either way that was
not an unheard-of occurrence. Are other species being created or discovered?
Palas is accepting the communiques as genuine. Which implies he thnks
Mitchell’s story is plausible. This means Catia and Lamia have been out of
communication for years, unless I misunderstood what he said and he only
meant no one had to his knowledge traveled THROUGH the Catian system
from Lamia or the Southern Worlds on into the rest of known settled space.
I wonder if the Southern Worlds also have a secondary wormhole path to
the Core Worlds. I think it is highly likely the Dragons do, and that there is
at least one wormhole in the Sol system as yet undiscovered by the Empire.
I have little doubt that’s part of the reason Mitchell and the core would want the
Catians to join the counsel so they can gain access to the wormhole again and
to “keep an eye” on the Catains as well they do have better tech and the support
of the earth empire clearly both are a huge threat to their power.
A Catian run winery? Nice…!

Panel 5 is just an act they put on to fool any surreptitious observers.

With the corner of the room hidden in panel 7, the
scenic wallpaper looks like a real window!
Not with that angle between the bottom edges
and the lack of any window framing.

I don’t know the story. How did she get to be Empress?

Ah. Makes sense. Thanks.

(btw, just how old IS Empress Teresa the First of
the Wolf Empire at this point in the story?)

Yes, Ambassador Palis is accepting Ambassador Mitchel as genuine; but with reservations – possibly major reservations.
