Damn! Jami blew the “con”! I was hoping for a little more tease and play of Biff et al. Ah, well. Considering he also “laid the hammer down”, and in NO uncertain terms, he’s forgiven. And it seems that Jami is also dictating terms to Cheryl (no longer “Cherry”). Live large and take charge, Jami. HOOAH! (salute!)
“Louis, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
You gotta stop watching Bogie movies. Fits the scenario though. You’re right I didn’t expect him to go for the jugular so quickly. I thought he’d draw it out more.
Yeah, I’d hoped for a bit more egg on their face, but 50 dragons is a pretty sharp lesson.
So much for my predator bait theory. But I do like Jami staying true to himself, and encouraging the same in Cheryl.
Now, what will Biff and Friends do? Slink away and tacitly admit defeat? Continue the sly slander game (with subsequent consequences)? Or get SOOOOOO pissed that Biff and Blondie (she looks like she’s going to have a stroke) tries a blindside assault, with more broken bones for Biff and Blondie? Inquiring minds, and all that…….STAY TUNED FOR THE FURTHER ADVENTURES OF “WHAT HAPPENS IN ANGEL’S LAIR HAS CONSEQUENCES”.
Without knowing what all morphs might be available to the Catman, I’d like to request/suggest a tad more muzzle on the dog folks. Perhaps more like a boston bulldog or a cavalier king charles spaniel or perhaps even such as is on a chihuahua. Just one man’s $.02. Catman’s universe, he gets to visualize it as he chooses.
With everything else, I just noticed. The Dogishuans are just as surprisingly tall as the amphibians back at the start of this thread were small. The pup Roxxy is a half-head taller than our captain. I wasn’t expecting either. I think Star Trek has badly miseducated me. There’s no reason these shouldn’t be so. But I will hazard a guess as a result: The Dogishuan homeworld has a somewhat lower surface gravity than Terra or Catia, the amphibians is somewhat greater. Then the cube-square law* would dictate size differentials like we’re seeing.
*Bones and muscles get stronger at the square of the length — the cross section, but heavier at the cube — the volume. It’s why insects and birds are built thinner than elephants and rhinos.
While spacing the cubs would be reprehensible, I see no reason to spare the ‘matron’. Her being old is no pass. All it means is she’s been attacking and killing victims for longer then those already dead. And deserves spacing more then the others. I’m sure all her dead are just rejoicing at her getting a pass cause ‘old now’.
I agree but if you did space the matron (pack alpha female) then 1) you’d badly traumatize the cubs and 2) likely set up a generational revenge cycle similar to the Hatfield-McCoy feud. Also, we don’t know how much input into the day-to-day running of a pack the females have. It could be that females – even alpha females have no actual say in how the pack goes about its business. The “matron” might well be the preeminent female in the pack and at the same time exercise essentially no authority in pack business. Before condemning the surviving adult female, I suggest we learn more about exactly how the Dogishuans run their affairs. For the moment it is safe to give her the benefit of the doubt. Also, the cubs might not thrive in an environment devoid of a canid mother figure. I would direct you to studies involving monkey raised as orphans. I would also direct your attention to the very few documented cases of humans reared by non-human animals. Mowgli, Romulus and Remus and ERB’s Tarzan not withstanding, such individuals invariably turn out to be hopelessly insane; they can never fully function as whatever species adopted them nor do they have an opportunity to learn to be a human being. In point of fact and contrary to my beliefs of 40 years ago, I am not even a strong believer in trans-RACIAL adoptions, much less trans-SPECIES adoptions. Irrespective of how loving and nurturing the Catian home in which the cubs were reared, I do not believe the cubs would grow up sane. As supporting material, I would direct your attention to the last couple of books in Harry Turtledove’s Tosev series. In in a couple of the invading alien young are reared by humans in an experiment (one, you later find out was mirrored by the aliens) and while they are reasonably sane they are completely dissatisfied with how they were experimented upon. From reading Turtledove I would say that anybody but Dogishuans rearing those cubs would be a very bad idea.
I’ll shut up now. I know there are those here who dislike it when I chime in. But I believed these points needed to be made.
Oh, I’m less inclined to dealing with pirates via sci fi. I have in mind Somalis, and their piracy. Never mind the piracy ongoing all over the world. I see no reason that the adults should get a pass cause they have kids. ALL their victims had kids too, and that didn’t matter a damn. Ppl who support the combatants have just as much blood on their hands as the ones shooting. I also don’t care about fictional examples of ppl reared by non-‘species’ parents. All of those examples are examples pulled out of the ass of whoever wrote them and have no bearing on reality at all. Really? Mowgli? Remus and Romulus? I’m supposed to take folk tales that are just as much ass pulls as any other fiction as an example of outcomes? I don’t think so. Drop them back on their planet with clear directives of what happens to pirates. If they choose to keep on being pirates, then their deaths are on them. There is a big Full Stop with what other entire WORLDS owe pirates and those who choose to be them. In fiction and in reality. And we should be sinking pirate ships on sight, not just warning them off their victims like we do now. They deserve just as much mercy as they show. And saying their execution is held off until they die a natural death is just pissing in the face of their victims, AND their families, and telling them it’s raining. It’s not even remotely justice.

pirates .. i understand and disagree.. yes pirates dead.. but ,. the sins of the father are not dropped on the kin.! as in the ‘kids had no choice’. (and like the slavers) check the background,, if the had no say, they walk,. if they were guilty,. turn them in at the next port..
Well, technically, Chardis only told *Roxxy* her execution would be scheduled 200 years from now. The rest is inference on Rinna’s part. But, it’s *probably* true.
Caught me completely off course. Great job Catman. Thanks very much for a terrific and moral comic.

Why stop watching Bogie movies? They’re better than 99+% of the tripe (I’m trying to be nice) that comes out now.
I know along with most of the movies from that era. I haven’t watched a movie since the last STAR TREK. But that is a whole new “education series”.

See PC’s reply to me on the previous strip.
I saw his pic on DA. I just wanted to toss my $.02 into the pot.

I’m afraid I misled you – the Captain is kneeling to talk to Roxxy.

Imagine me saying “Oh … that’s different … never mind” in Emily Litella’s voice.
