This is what Rob and I are up against:
In one day, TGW has accumulated over 200 spam comments.
I’ve even had to block certain common words, because too many
spammers use them, such as “bot” and “Robot”.
So if you leave a comment that doesn’t appear, please leave a
simple “lost comment” here and I’ll see if I can find it. Thanks.

If you are signed in, the blocks won’t apply.

May all the spammers’ armpits be infested with the fleas of a thousand camels each.
It will give them something more important to do.
I for one appreciate your efforts.

Back in ’03 a friend of mine and I had started a chat client server and suffered several
cyber attacks one day I was on the server when a service denial attack started never
typed so fast in my life we had to get a different internet provider to stop it. I yelled out
“you wanna dance? let’s dance!” scared the crap out of my wife and kids.

I expected Jim was going to have a problem like that I suspect he was influenced by some
of his students over the land issue that was a non-issue.

Yeah the core group is pulling out the stops here, I figured that at some point a blatant attack
was coming. They just want to either capture the tech the ship has or stop the Catians from
“taking over” which is at best partly true. Either they will succeed or the other races will defend
the Catains, either way this is going to get nasty in short order.

Or the demigod Dragons will step in and shut it all down? Only PC knows…

I forgot the bridge layout but one hopes that Elias hopped into the weps
position and that the Pride has some teeth available aside from the small
craft. Drat! Now we gotta wait until Thursday to find out. (Although
knowing PC I figure Elias is going to launch a couple of grav missiles.)

I am surprised that Pallas didn’t leave more of a crew aboard for
station keeping. Also surprised that when the core worlders started their
putsch Pallas didn’t call up the caretaker crew on the Pride and order
    them to battle stations.

Vantas is at weapons, Elias took commo.
Palas doesn’t think like a Navy Cat, unfortunately.
Everyone else is off-watch, but that alarm will bring them.
And yeah, the Pride has teeth. They took out a couple of
Dog raiders before the AI fighters were installed.

    The Park
Sometimes you have to wonder if some people actually want to ‘win’ or if they
    protest for protest’s sake.

    Xanadu
    And so it begins.
I’m assuming someone is panicking, because no matter what they put out as a
reason for this action there will be very few that believe it at this point.
No matter how this ends, this will break the council.
What I do wonder if someone local panicked or if the ship from Catia is back
    already.
And now comes the interesting part. Are they ready to reveal that they actually
represent an Empire, because if they are, the Catia’s Pride does not stand alone.

There is also the question who crews the ships of System Security.

There was a similar situation in David Weber’s novel ‘Insurrection’. A flotilla
was sent to suppress the fringe worlds, but as a politician noted, 60% of the
crews of their fleet came from the Fringe Worlds. Said flotilla? One ship
refused to follow that order and for a while no one really knew which ship was
on who’s side until the crews had sorted it out. The Flagship took a hit in
their sensor phalanx and took the sensor data from their sister ship to fight.
At least until another ship on their side begged them to stop firing. Turns out
the sister ship was on the side of the Fringe Wolds. On some ships the Fringe
Worlders could not take over the ships they were on, but sabotaged any system
they could. Anything to keep their ship out of the fight if most of the crew
stood on the side of the Central Worlds.
And this repeated itself over the whole Federation Fleet.

As Ambassador Kosh said on Babylon 5: “The avalanche has already started, it
is too late for the pebbles to vote.”

Nothing wrong with what you’ve said.
Could you please use the “enter” key to keep your comments from stretching across
the full screen? It will make them easier to read on a phone. Thanks.
(I had to edit your comment with indents.)

Sometimes people claim to want something that they don’t believe that they
can get because what they really want are social points for trying.

Also, working to create and maintain a park is more work than picketing to get a park.

I agree, if Jim hadn’t done it the right way that land wouldn’t of been successfully converted
the way it will be now.
At best, even if they had got the land the way they wanted, no one would of helped them
and the land would of just sat there, few if anyone would of gone there.
Now Jim with help, will be able to create what his friends tried to demand of Carl. This was
just an attention grab by his friends, and they must of figured a collage professor had the
        clout to pull it off.

Well said, and nice references too. I had missed much of that season of Babylon 5
due to my work schedule at the time. I need to locate and rewatch it from the start,
      there was much I missed.
Clearly the Core group thinks they can do want they want, how they want, and to
who it hasn’t dawned on them yet those days are over.

Did those kids think they were at Uni to get a degree in Protesting?
Well, they are certainly accumulating points for BS. To bad those
may count against employment (like that Arts college Red taught at)?

You always get a few that think they know it all and decide who’s “evil” and it’s up to
them to protect the world from them. As far as their future, I think if they keep it up
the only place to go would be big red’s school! If they aren’t exiled… I’m sure the California
federation could use a few more brainless hot heads. They need someone to soak up
      bullets heh.

It seems the one who gained the most is the government.
They assured the paper mill and commercial forest they
now have will be properly managed with no real work on
their part or even having a person in the room.

The Empire won’t benefit much from the paper mill itself. If the employees agree to
buy the mill, it won’t cost much more than the Empire will have spent getting it
      back to operation status.
The real long-term benefit will be a whole bunch of people working and paying the
sales tax, which won’t happen unless the mill is operating. So, as usual, it’s a win-
win for everyone involved. The locals get jobs, an income, and a source for things
they want to buy, and the Empire gets some new taxpayers.

Like I said, the government gained the most.
People employed, resources managed and renewed,
new tax revenue, a park developed and managed
by a person who has commitment to it.
This sounds like a very progressive solution to
        a whole set of problems.

It would create a trade commodity and milled paper,
soaked in a plastic or tar, can last for many years as
a building material. The factory I worked at would
use something they called “felt paper”, a loosely
bonded heavy paper sheet that would get a tar bath,
either soaked with or covered in tar, and would get
covered with a densely packed cotton/resin sheet
that parts were cut out of. Roofing paper, paneling,
even simple linoleum is made from paper products.
