If memory serves, I think that this was kind of built into the Imperial
Military Enlistment papers. This would cover newscasts, recreation
of events for news or judicial proceedings,or historical records. It
would seem to also cover entertainment, literature and comics, so
long as the retelling isn’t too far off from the truth, AND compensation
to those whose likenesses were used in such entertainment.
Wow! I wasn’t expecting the remarriage and adoption. That 2nd husband
is 1 in 10 million! I worked with a guy who got stove up in a car wreck and
his wife divorced him. He was an Army officer (ROTC not regular Army)
Capt. maybe Maj. Anyhow he was stationed in Germany and was driving
on the Autobahn when he was rear-ended. He was doing right at 200kph
(120mph) and the woman who rear-ended him was estimated to have
been doing just under 290kph (180mph)! He wound up utterly out of
control at 240kph (150mph). Only thing that kept him from being killed
outright was that he was driving an older Mercedes from when those
things were built like tanks. He spent over a month in hospital and months
in rehab. The army medicalled him out so he lost his commission. WHILE HE WAS IN THE HOSPITAL his wife divorced him, took the kids
and moved to another state. His degree was in literature or history so
useless. I was doing temp work at a central warehouse for a department
store chain. He could get around decent but there weren’t a whole lot of
jobs he was qualified for. Great guy. Must have been a good officer to
work for. Sad how the bitch did him!
It hard to find anyone willing to take on the heartbreaking effort it
takes to care for someone in that situation. More often than not,
he would of wound up in a care facility and been forgotten. Kudos
both on the Ex and her new family for doing that. I remember all
too well how people were afraid of me after my car wreck, they all
seemed to think I was made of crystal glass and dumb. Its part of
why I love my wife so much, she seen me before and after the
wreck, and still wanted to be around me 🙂
