        Yes, figuring out compounded

        “com-pounded” headache. heh…

Wasn’t that hard once I figured out which formulas to
write and what to apply them to, changing the base pay
and rent every twelve months for the 5% annual inflation.

I wasn’t sure if it was compounded monthly or yearly,
the only way I could of done it would be on-line since
I wasn’t sure which formula to use.
Kinda got out of that way of thinking when I started
working as mechanic and already had a house.

The V sign over Chelsea’s head is perfect and
    in the perfect position.
The Dean is toast no matter what.
He can’t fire Jonathan and can’t pay either.
BUH BYE Dean and take Chelsea with you.

PC, I want to work next on the crew cab of the freighter but
you’ve mentioned windows and meteor defenses. For that
I’ll need sketches plus descriptions of the guns. I also need
guidance on where to place grav emitters.

Bill, most of what you want can be seen here:
      http://thegentlewolf.net/characters/
Just scroll all the way to the bottom.
The missile launchers are simple turrets with a German Panther
style glacis plate and a launch tube, and the plasma cannon are
the same as on the side of the Tobies, as seen here:
      http://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-1094/
The window and Grav drive placement can be the same as on the
      Wyvern, relatively speaking.

    INDIVIDUALLY RESPONSIBLE.
LOVE IT. NOT “school board” responsible ,
which would devolve to the taxpayers’
    beleaguered pockets.
No $20 mill? Whose fault is that?
And Mr School Board wants to sue?
On what grounds? A desperate move for sure.
Any competent judge would laugh that suit
out of court in the first minute.

That’s a common “Karen” ploy, threaten to sue in hopes
it’ll scare you off. I highly doubt that contract is anything
else other than air-tight. And Johnathan knows it!

Nah, Jon’s lawyer would cross file and move for summary judgement.
That way he’d get his attorney’s fees back as well. That assumes that
Jon’s lawyer didn’t move for dismissal for lack of standing.
(In case you’re wondering, I’m not a lawyer. I don’t even play on on TV.
But I do watch a ton of videos by lawyers. “Washington Gun Law” “Four
Boxes Diner” “Tom Grieve” “Armed Attorneys” So I have picked up a
      couple of legal terms.)

I just LOVE it when some “woke” moron gets instant karma.
Their best option is to apologize and forget about firing him,
Then run to the hills and never come back. Then all Johnathan
needs to do is have a civil court date set, they fail to show,
a failure to appear warrant is out, and it’s jail time for them.

Panels 6 & 7, why did I suddenly hear “The hills are alive with
the sound of music” (sung by Julia Andrews) when I seen them?
HEH! I’m sure this scene will be repeated 2 more times as well.
PC, please don’t show us Chubby-chunkous and his mate getting
frisky, this old man’s stomach can’t take it! LMAO
    (laughing my ass off)
Good pay, great environments, no over-bearing bosses to haunt you,
very happy mates, what more can any honest worker want?

Ah, Scarsdale? Jon suing for his back rent/salary would be a
civil action. “Failure to appear” and bench warrants are part of
a criminal action. The only thing that happens if somebody
doesn’t show up for a civil action is the other side moves for
and gets a default summary judgement. Then if they don’t pay
the winner goes back to court and gets a mechanic’s lien
against everything the loser owns. Might even be able to
attach their bank account. I know the IRS does that shit.

Bill, I was arrested on this very same thing. I was being sued for
a lousy $35 and had a summons, I missed the date and when we
had a break-in, 4 cops showed up to arrest ME! Bail was the
amount owed. If I couldn’t pay it, I was to be jailed until a new
court date was set and they would keep me until then. I was a
“flight risk” just because I forgot the court date.

I have to say that I have never heard of that happening. One of
my former employers sued somebody (he was a great guy to
work for but he was a litigious mike foxtrot) and I had to go
to court, too, to testify (big deal I was getting paid). Anyhow
the other guy didn’t show up. My boss’ lawyer moved for summary
judgement and that was all there was to it. The notice of
judgement was served and the guy made no reply so the
boss got a mechanics lien on his business. Mayybe it’s
different in different states. This was in Texas.

Welcome to Indiana… This was when we were still
living up near Gary, they took failure to appear very
seriously. The lawyer could and did file for that and
a warrant. It might only be in Indiana, I never
            bothered to look it up.

They had expected I’d resist, I was only worried about the safety of
my wife and kids. Once they realized I knew what I was doing 2 left,
another talked to the rest of the family about the break in, luckily
my eldest knew the 3 boys that did it and they all were arrested and
given community service for 3 months. I on the other hand was bailed
out by the next day and the matter dropped.

I have to say, once the cops knew I wasn’t going to resist
and that I was sacrificing myself for my family, they got very
respectful of me, I was cuffed, but very loosely and the cop
allowed me to leave my wallet and keys with my wife. The
jail did toss out my lighter however, I had that lighter for a
        decade….

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any funnier.
He’ll sue Walker for suing them to fulfill the contract they signed?
If the judge doesn’t laugh that out of the courtroom
the press will make them a laughing stock anyway.
Love the woman’s look of total shock BTW.

Does “individually responsible for the full amount” mean they
will EACH owe him 20M? That goes beyond desperation,
better to let the school fail and find a new job. At this point
signing that contract was pure stupidity, or drunkenness.

Woodman was dead right about the incentive to not pollute.
But in a few gene-rations we may see the same issues that
forced the Diaspora in the first place.

i see it like this. : Jonathan wanted the school,. but the “Plank” ran
the school,. and being rich busy bodies the knew what was best for
“Their” kids (i mean the boards kids not the rest of the school, the
rest is there to make theirs’s look great.) so playing the long game..
when timing was right. he gave them the “Golden Goose /w Golden
Parachute.” all they saw was the gold.. not that the chute had NOT
deployed,, YET.! Now he gets the school,.
and they no longer have a “Say” on how it’s run…

“Each individually responsible for the full amount” means he can pick which ones to go after until he collects all he is owed.
His lawyers would look for whatever is easiest to collect on – look for large bank or investment accounts and seize them.
Then seize and auction the most expensive houses and cars. The real challenge is the ones that hide their assets; it’s illegal
to put your house in your wife’s name to avoid a judgment, but difficult to prove…

But there will be a lot of self-inflicted pain from their efforts to avoid paying. Put your house in your wife’s name, and
she can get rid of you and keep the house – unless you want to go to court and prove you committed a fraud upon the court.

There are ways, Like when OJ Simpson was sued after his criminal case
was over, he had several land lots that he owned in certain states that
prevented them from seizing them. Aren’t state laws such fun?

For those of you thinking “Okay, this could never happen in real life!”,
there is an explanation coming after the board meeting that explains
just how Jonathan managed to pull it off. It makes sense, at least in
my twisty mind. Other than that, the Cat sayeth nothing.

    • Bill Mullins
      November 16, 2023, 16:12 | # | Reply

Actually, it makes perfect sense. The board was desperate
(and maybe half bombed) and Jon offered them a lifeline.
Principle Numbnuts jumped at it and figured he’d worry
about later later. Now, if Jon could just see fit to get rid
of ol’ Numbnuts there, things would improve greatly.

    • Curtis
      November 16, 2023, 16:48 | # | Reply

I look forward to the explanation. IRL the board
members who signed this contact would be liable
for failing in their fiduciary responsibility to the school.
Bill has a point, but to really improve the sycophants
      would have to go too.
As a side thought: Does numbnuts form an insinuation
that the person is too stupid to realize that he is
      being kicked in the nuts?

      • Petercat
        November 16, 2023, 16:51 | # | Reply

I think it’s a combination of being that
dumb and their likely thought processes
        immediately after being kicked
        in the nuts.

    • rob stanley
      November 16, 2023, 18:07 | # | Reply

umm.. IRL ? kinda similar.?? .. basically board member is suing the board,.
because a very large chunk of money is unaccounted for. and programs
are not getting paid. and one of the examples,. is the board bought out a
failing golf course. who happens to be owned by a high ranking member of
      the board.

Look, there was a time here in Germany when some cities got sold
on the idea of selling parts of their infrastructure like waste water
treatment plants to foreign investors and lease them back.
On paper that looked like a good deal, that is until the investor
choose a tax write-off after a few years and wanted to close these
properties down. Not only did they make money from the write-off,
but by neglecting maintenance and upgrades they managed to
make a profit while running those.
Suddenly the cities had to scramble to buy those properties back
and put a lot of money into maintenance to keep them running.

So I have seen stupidity like this and can believe it.

Trying to sue someone for enforcing a contract, that you signed,
and have been benefiting from (for years)? Even after finding a
lawyer that does not mind losing and is just in for the billable
    hours, whatever will the basis for your claim be :}

key word,. Benefitting.. of course they will sue,. you changed /
altered the contract, so they are no-longer reaping the benefits.!
unless already written into the contract. ‘omission / oversight ‘
is permittable IF both parties do Not contest the “Change” within

Over the years I have learned that it doesn’t matter if
you are right or wrong, if something is legal or not.
In court it matters who has a better lawyer. I remember
once my employer for my remark, that we can’t do
something, because it’s against the law, said – I don’t
care. We employ lawyers to find a way to make it legal.

The distinction between joint, several, joint and several liability
    and why it matters.

It may be that all are liable for the full amount. But just once.
No three times the amount. They should have gotten Sheldon
