My thoughts exactly, even as just a civy, she will be around both the
Cats and Terran’s working and living like anyone else would without
“masters” threatening her at every turn. With both Teresa and the Doc
taking care of Seth, she’ll learn everything to know about the Empire
without having to sit in a classroom for weeks on end.
And Flea having a new friend that understands her will help both too.
Nicely done, Caorda is well on his way to being a Captain, other than
that one small mistake he made with the tactical arrangement, he did
nearly perfect. He will need more experience, but that only comes with
time and effort. I think he’s figured out this is a sim, which is why
he’s talking about marines they don’t really have yet.

I weep for Diane.
I weep for sorrow for all that she has missed
in her young life;
eggs, having your own farm, reading.
The simple things we take for granted.
I weep for joy that she has escaped her shackles
and has an opportunity to learn, to grow,
to learn to help, and learn to be helped.
I wonder now if Teresa will use this episode
as a reason to bring this part of the country
into the Empire, and find a way to punish the
dictators and those who abused Seth.

In both the Disney and the grittier version with Johnny Depp
it was stated “3 impossible things every morning”.
I never read the book, it was vandalized at the library.
I swear, it’s been almost 25 years since I had to fill out that HUGE
stack of job reports, (I used to call them used TP) I still type some
words when something is spelt close to a common word I had to use:
I meant “Johnny Depp” not Johnny’s Department… 🙁

Well, that’s a relief. I thought I’d
screwed up the reference in panel 7: http://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-178/

Great, now I’m off on another earlier-story reading binge…
Heh, I might have to re-read the last couple of chapters as well.
Don’t worry about it, if you haven’t figured it out by now,
I’m REALLY into sci-fi/fantasy, even when I was just another
grunt working the line, I’d pass the time remembering
entire books trying to avoid the mindless, boring task(s).
(Pickup the part, jam it onto the pins to line up the part,
hit the buttons to run the stamping press, yank off the
scrap, toss the part to the people to deplug the part and
box it. Over and over and over…)
That or offer to evac everyone to Jerico. That could be something
Diana could do, go around with a guard and open talks with all
the smaller settlements.
It just hit me, since the Legion is well known even in the far areas,
having someone to approach those far flung areas and settlements
made sense to me, it would give Earth a new source of manpower,
speeding up the Empire’s expansion efforts, and saving people from
the a-holes and monsters that have risen to cause trouble
everywhere.
I just made her into another Teresa/Taritha just now huh,
I can’t wait to see how many times Teresa complains
“she’s doing it again, isn’t she…” HEH! Plus all the new
story lines it’ll give you PC.
By the way PC, I FINALLY got my Sovol working again, I’ll
get your fan cover sent off shortly.
Tried and true method in any military: pass it on to the next guy 😉
Marines are part of the Navy, but they have their own commanders,
and unless the troops are assigned to a ship, they got orders passed
down from the navy through the Marine command.
Flea’s right about that, since we were growing our own food here,
my ulcer is almost gone and the breed of chicken we had laid only
jumbo eggs, tasty! We also had many different breeds too “easter
eggers” my sis called them. Blue, pink, brown, and a weird spotted
egg, they weren’t so tasty… Those birds looking like what I did if
I forgot my coffee and someone scared me…
Caorda has me wondering, they said 6 months until they
got re-enforcement, so this just makes me think he knew
it was a sim and was just going through the motions
Diane has had a full day of surprises
and it’s only breakfast time.
Capt. Caorda is too smart. He is almost ready
for a command of his own..

Oh, and Alice in Wonderland’s saying about
“Seven impossible things before breakfast”
applies even more now.
Slight quibble. The White queen told Alice that when she was
Alice’s age she had sometimes believed as many as six
impossible things before breakfast.

TY. I was going off a hazy, and apparently faulty memory
No big, I’ve had my share over the years…
Getting old is really starting to get old…

Excellent idea, have her be an ambassador
to the outer-border survivor communities.
It would certainly make the Legion’s job easier.
