We have a problem…
I once read in a security magazine that it would take four, two-man sniper teams to kill
New York City’s power grid for over a year, by shooting holes in some super large
transformers. They’re custom-made in Scandinavia and take over a year to build, plus
the difficulty of transporting them to the site. They are much larger than a tractor-
trailer, so overland transport is a nightmare. And there are no spares in the United
States.
Didn’t somebody try something similar on the west coast a couple of
years back? I seem to recall hearing about it. I guess it is a good thing
that most enviro-wackos are also rabidly anti-gun. I suspect every city
(large or small) is similarly vulnerable. I read a TEOTWAWKI novel once
where an invading group coming up from Mexico shut down Texas’
grid by attacking a few select transformer stations in west Texas. If they
carried out such an attack on NYC it would render the place pretty much
uninhabitable, wouldn’t it?
Well, friends, today is September 11th. Yup! It’s been 22 years since
the twin towers fell. I remember it like it was just yesterday. I got up,
turned on the tube and watched as Bryant Gumbel interviewed some
woman in one of the smaller WTC buildings with the 1st tower burning
in the background. Then the 2nd plane hit on live television. The poor
woman Gumbel was talking to flat out lost it! I remember thinking it
was going to be a real chore to bring those two things down safely.
Then gravity did the demo! World changed that day. Yes, indeed the
world changed that morning in September.

I was in Charleston picking up a tanker load of waste oil to be recycled.
The woman in the office yelled out, and everyone rushed in, in time to
see the first tower burning. Then the second plane hit, one tower fell,
and then the second. After that I went back to the loading.

called aunt who worked in the first tower .. who had left, when first
impact happened,.
I had just walked in to work at the Illinois Human Resources Bureau
in Springfield, IL. Someone had a portable mini-TV set up. Saw the
first tower burning. Someone said softly “We’re at war.” I said “No,
this was just a terrible accident, like when that plane hit the
Empire State Building.”
Then the second plane hit and I admitted I was wrong.
I was sitting at home, my sons had just left for school, and my wife
was at work. So I turned on the TV. They were talking about the fire
in the first tower, and about how they were going to rescue the people
on the upper floors above the fire. Then I seen the second plane hit.
I got dressed, drove over to the school and got my sons and drove out
to my parents house. (They had a storm shelter out there)
I was worried about nukes etc…
By then the first tower had fallen and we watched the second one fall.
My wife had called by then and told me she was ok and in the storm
shelter they had.
I was in Hampton Virginia when a friend called me for a pickup.
I hadn’t been watching tv, and he told me about the first tower hit
on the way to my house. We got home turned on the TV, thinking
it was some kind of horrible accident.
I was home in Phoenix. Fell asleep with the TV on. Woke up just in time to see the 2nd plane hit. I thought “Nice special affects in this movie. I’ll have to watch it sometime” then rolled over and went back to sleep. Woke up again later to the reality.
