Nice to have friends in unexpected places.

Restrictions? Ah… no harvesting themselves unless the tree’s are ok’d by them and
they can collect the wood etc that makes sense no greedy behavior. I doubt Jim would
but he’s not the only one involved here.

Yeah they were… almost! P’tero were on the ball and maybe long-term body guards?
Unofficial of course. It’s going to take time for the “aggressives” to learn nothing is going
to change through bullying tactics. Next step, court battles, that will unlikely change anything
they way they want and if they keep acting out they themselves could be in court on
civil and treaty violations, or at least one could hope.

Hmmm… some might be about behavior in the park too,
like non-destructive visits and illegal actions.
There will always be a few like Ryder out there!

        But bodies bio-degrade so well.
They just shouldn’t be left lying around everywhere.

but, once certain animals get the taste
of flesh, they will attack live ones…

I think that’s (mostly) a myth. Humans aren’t all that tasty compared to other prey.

I’m not saying that a wolf won’t ever eat a human if there’s nothing
else to eat or the human in question is too stupid to live.

But given the choice between a juicy little lamb and an scrawny human?
(who might also have a gun or knife or smell strange
or have friends who’d come and avenge him …)
I’m pretty confident that twelve out of ten wolves would prefer the lamb.

Lamps are inedible. Did you mean “lamb”?

Even that isn’t quite right. Domesticated sheep usually
aren’t a major part of the wolf diet – not for wolves
that live long enough to raise the next generation.

                Oops. Should’ve read lamb.

And of course you’re right. Any wolf that’s
eating EITHER humans or their life stock is
                probably shortening their own lifespan.

i was talking,, bears, and or mountain lions…
              to name a few..
while in Denver, animal control we had to go out, track an kill
animals that attacked humans,, one bear had 3 different
undigested human remains… was working on 4th..

                August 24, 2022, 01:36 | #

Bears will eat almost anything they can catch and Lions generally stay away unless they are
sick or injured. Or like me, get to close to their young!

I believe to some point you’re right. me that close call I had with
the coyotes was their brood lair was set up right by the fence
            I didn’t notice until I heard the yipping…
that and 5 pairs of eyes glowed in my flashlight (shudder) VERY creepy!
They didn’t attack but followed me closely until I got close to the herd.

Defending their lair is something else entirely, of course.

(I once accidently came a bit too close to a swan who thought I might
pose a threat to his? mate or nest …. a polite retreat was the only option)

We have geese to protect the chickens (mostly) from predators etc… The gander doesn’t like anyone,
however if you hiss at him he’s back down most of the time. And when that didn’t work I do
something we joking call “the hand shake”, grab his neck at the base of his head and shake “hands”
he looses interest quickly and it’s pretty funny to watch him stagger off LOL! I’ve never met a bird
I couldn’t control in some degree, if you think swans are bad try butterball turkeys during mating
season. My sister had one that seemed to think he was going to mate with her, talk about dumb and
                determined!
They tend to be anywhere from 25-35 lbs and can dent steel. There was one that decided his reflection
in my fender was a turkey to fight… And I can confirm they will drown if it’s raining I seen it happen.

What’s with the Keffiyeh and Arals on the Ptero there?
I know why middle eastern men wear them.
Damned hot in the traditional Arab lands. Just curious.

Haven’t you noticed the Pteros’s infatuation with
headgear of various styles? And as PC says…

Always the wet blanket, Jonathan. I was pretty sure Marketing would see it that
way. I wonder how Carl would feel about insisting it be named a Memorial Park
after his son. Too shallow, cheapening his memory?

present day this is a flash-back after all.

    >rail spur or use the river

Sawyer, while river is a traditional transport for Operations, the whole
point of this exercise is keeping the river as pristine as possible (listen
    to Dana and Marketing). Please think harder about building that rail option :}

    • Petercat
      August 23, 2022, 15:58 | #

No, the river through the property is not suitable in too many places.
He’s talking about the main rivers that were the original borders of Jerico.
DAMMIT! Can anyone here draw a map??!!!

I would offer too PC but this damned arthritis has ruined a lot of my skills.
Which is why I started looking at the printer(s). I’m sure Rob has more than
enough to give a convincing one!

That section of the river looks largely untouched and would need dredged out
which would ruin the natural look and cause havoc on the ecosystem. The rail
option is a better idea. Nothing is ideal but it’s the lesser of the options.
