I’m wondering if the AI is lonely?
And I’m also wondering if the failed amplifier was deliberate, just so it could get/have attention.
I’m still thinking of scenes and plots from “2001”, starting where HAL 9000 begins to have his nervous breakdown, with the “failed” circuit board that was tested….and passed. I’ll let your imagination take it from there. “DAAAAAAISYYYY, DAAAAAISYYYY, GIIIIVE ME YOUR AAAAANSWERRR DOOOO…..”.
I knew it before the movie – both as a barbershop quartet number, and as a vinyl record from the first successful experiment in voice synthesis by computer.
That’s what HAL was re-playing, and in the movie’s world it was about 40 years old.
not PC,, i did that ,. and the main characters are capitalized, others are not..
tho some have become main ,, like Chira,. but i would have to go back and delete name,, an add all new..
also the site goes alphabetical,, and i cant change that…
LOL Not only reversed but upside down as well. But don’t blame that on PC. Any imperfections/oddities/anomalies you see like that are 100% the fault of the person who built the model PC is using in his.story. If you look closely at those pipes you will spot a major limitation of 3D modeling. Computers don’t – CANNOT – do curves. Curves only exist in an analog world. The computer world is digital. There is no shading from one value to the next. Computers can make things that look curves or circles but in reality they’re multisided polygons. If you look closely at the striping on the pipes it appears that the person who built that model used a 12 sided form. I try not to use less than a 24 sided form when I’m building something for PC to reduce the likelihood of things like that showing up. For anything that is going to be the scale equivalent of 3″ or larger in diameter I use a 24 sided base form.
Something else I noticed that the modeller did was have the covering of the dash looking like it is peeling off. It’s visible in frames 6 & 8 although glare from the canopy somewhat obscures it in frame 6. As a wannabe modeller I look at things differently. I always like to try and figure out how some guy accomplished something in a model.
“Jonathan, let’s go for a walk”
Nothing better then comradeship with a fellow brother-in-arms.
Especially when you’ve both been to the same AO at the same time.
…. who is this guy, that even his shirt has abs?
if not rhetoric: .. Aral is a brother in arms ( under an Afghan moon ) ,, he is the violin player..
so he would know what Jonathan went thru..
Thanks, I was wondering the same thing. I guess that story’s canon now.
Hmmm, the AI has gained sentience. I wonder if it has a sense of humor?
Funny once or funny always?

Damn you remember that song as well. I thought I was the only one who would know that one.

Originally written 1892 by Henry Dacre. I think Nat King Cole was the last modern artist to sing it. Also some words were changed, I believe.
It did take Manny a while to teach Mike the different senses of humor :}
PC, you used to have the characters listed with the ones in the top section capitalized.
This seems to have changed (or I have totally misunderstood).

I hadn’t realized capitalizing Chira would be that involved. I understand now why you haven’t.
Is it my imagination, or is the text on the pipes/conduits in the cockpit reversed?

The base ship was built by the lowest bidder. 😉
