Make shooting ducks in a barrel look difficult. There’s “slaughter”; then there’s “massacre” then about a country mile further there’s whatever your call THAT!
Interesting design on the freighter. Not an extremely efficient design, mind you, but an interesting one. Reckon where the Catman found that model? Love the docking port “aft”.
Well, if the freighter is to operate in atmospheric conditions, you’re right, Bill.
in vacuum it doesn’t matter – just look at the ISS, not exactly streamlined, is it?
Wonder what it is between the ‘front paws’. Another bay door?
Jan, I wasn’t talking about the freighter’s design from the standpoint of aerodynamics. Of course a vehicle which operates solely in space doesn’t need to be streamlined. I’m talking about wasted space. There’s a reason cargo ships are boxy. A naval architect designing a freighter will want to maximixe the cargo capacity while simultaneously minimizing hull. There would be a lot of unusable volume inside that spacecraft’s hull simply due to the curves. And that tail. I cannot see any way it would be useful so it represents essentially wasted mass. I suspect the Catman is using the cat shaped hull as a visual pun or sight gag. I’m neither criticizing him nor faulting him for the joke. I’m merely observing the merits of the design from an engineering point of view. Actually I thought the idea of Cats flying around the galaxy in a cat-shaped spacecraft was a pretty good joke. It wasn’t laugh-out-loud funny for me but I got the joke.
I like the Catians’ sense of humor. It communicates CAT. And they are not afraid to make a statement. A comment. An opinion. A cat’s sometime complete lack of concern.
Exactly. This is not an actual freighter, it is more of a trade/diplomatic pathfinder.
The cargo hold is in the bottom half, and currently carries a wide variety of
possible trade goods to see what will sell before the real freighters load up.
That is why Ambassador Palas is aboard.
I’m trying to think of a use for the tail, too, Bill. (Not a warp nacelle, for instance.) I like the lights at nose and tail tip, tho.
And this answers another question. Domesticated cats (to whatever extent that word really applies) are apparently known on Catia AND the homeworld of these amphibian aliens. May not be present, but are known.
5 to 1 , cessna vs D-Fly would still be over as fast…

That’s the door for the cargo hold and a small atmosphere ship.
See my reply to Bless His Heart, below.
Skeet Bill, they call it skeet…

OK, I laughed out loud and scared the dog when I saw Catia’s Pride!

The tail should slowly undulate as the ship moves. Just because.
