I have been working on an attack craft. Figured on starting with the cockpit and building the aircraft model around it. Here are some views of the cockpit as a work in progress.

some type of shock absorber (piston) to make seats crash worthy…
      and
folding armor wings on the seat back an sides to protect against ground fire..
i still have pic’s an manuals if you want reference…

and then, personal pref,, some type of seat ejector… (depends of Cat wants to add…)

Assume shock absorbing mechanism is in the base. Most of the detail I have included will not even be visible.

The cockpit glazing is transparent aluminum (There really is such a thing. It is an alumina-based ceramic which can be polished to optical clarity.) and it is a remarkable material for armor. One inch of TA is equal to 6 inches of bullet-resistant glass at a fraction of the weight. While in the real world we have not yet gotten to the point of being able to produce TA commercially, the Empire’s access to grav technology makes fabricating large pieces feasible. The pilot is protected by projectile-resistant ceramic armor on all sides.

Was considering adding rails to the back of the seat to simulate ejection gear. Remember all this is going to have an aircraft model wrapped around it and a pilot figure sitting in it so most of the details are throw-away and would not be visible in any rendered images.

the newer phones use it (transparent aluminum) in the screens,, one of the reasons so expensive…
an most of the wind screens are bullet resistant lexan,, but still have armor wings,, just in case..

      Don’t forget the Cats’ tails.

There is a space between the seat cushion and seat back for the cat to stow their tail. But then I would expect tails to be an issue for Cats using any human furniture. Where do they stow their tails in the existing D’Fly and other models? I know none of the models out there were constructed with Catians in mind.

Would you send me a version of the D’Fly similar to how you did the Locust? I have some questions about cockpit fittings and other things that can only be answered by inspection of an actual D’Fly .obj model. I would greatly appreciate it.

I deleted the original seats and added different ones that had space for the tails (office chairs).

Looks like there might be a new Imperial Security agent in the making.

An HH-53 “Super Jolly”? The model I am working on (when I feel good enough to be able to sit at the computer) will more closely resemble a Hughes OH-6 but with better visibility for the pilot. I’m still feeling my way on how to construct the fuselage. Working on the cockpit first because I can most clearly visualize what I want to make. I am so limited in skill and imagination that I have to be able to hold a very clear picture of the end product in my mind to be able to do anything at all. Basic problem is that – at my core – I am not a visual thinker.

Shedload of variants in the ?H-53 family. CH, MH, HH, Pave Low
          From Wikipedia:

The CH-53 Sea Stallion (Sikorsky S-65) is a family of heavy-lift transport helicopters designed and built by Sikorsky Aircraft.

I was a zoomie so I knew it as the USAF version (HH-53 Super Jolly Green Giant”) but they’re all part of the same family. Sikorski added a 3rd engine which they called the S-80E.
