Third wish, hmmm. Oh boy.
I wish we didn’t have to keep fighting.
Nah people will always fight.
Besides if it was peaceful the Gods
would be bored. That would be bad.
Ha! how did I know he was going to be there? 😉
hang in there Ahmya, this might be good or bad,
depending on you look at it. It mostly depends on
the type of man he is, and his willingness to listen
to other people.
I kinda expected as much, perhaps we haven’t met
yet the victims of their failed attempts to improve
minds. Or maybe they just “deleted” their mistakes.
I agree that the Catains don’t need it, time and time
again they’ve shown they can pickup on new things
quickly, or used their quick wit to deal with issues.
I’ll take “fast on their feet” over a “brainy-ack” any day.
Yeah. Keep #3 in reserve if possible. But if not,
I haven’t a clue. She surprised me with the first
three, but once heard, I was “Well, yeah. Obviously
those. Nothing else comes close.” So, we’ll have to
wait on “He who sayeth nothing.” Fortunately, we
only have to wait for two days, not all weekend.
Now….how is “Loki” going to implement
the two wishes? Snap his fingers and make
it as if the short lifespan and difficult birth
never happened all the back to the beginning?
Frustrating Herr Mad Doktor’s insanity?
Hmmmm….that would change Catian history,
and therefore, Catian culture and character.
Not a good idea.
Soooo…..maybe a little “deus ex machina”,
an invention, a genetic technique, to bring
to pass Teresa’s two wishes.
He and the rest of the gods could just do it
while stopping time like now. So only Teresa
would know anything was done, and the
change would go unnoticed. At first anyway.
And aging Cat suddenly has many good
days, or a mother feels the pain during a
delivery suddenly eases, it just happens.
“It’s a miracle!” heh.
My thought was that it will simply be the norm going
forward. Will it raise questions? You bet! But as long
as Teresa doesn’t tell (and I think she can keep a
secret pretty well), the correct conclusion will be
reached – that for whatever reason, the elder gods
tweaked things. Only Teresa will know what that
“whatever” was.
…or, it could be contact with the Terrans and Terra itself,
caused a species wide physiological adjustment.
Probably brought on by a combination of the Terran
biosphere, food, water, and medical health care….
I still think that Wolf Empire scientists
will come with a discovery/invention/
medicine/self-replicating genetic splice
(limiting to Catians only) that will grant
Empress Teresa’s two wishes.
Make it seem more a “natural” scientific
progress rather than a “god” given
miracle.
(Like “Star Trek IV”, when Scotty gives
the formula for transparent aluminum to
the engineer, “Who’s to say where the
inspiration came from?”)
I don’t know if you’re aware of it or not but
“transparent aluminum” already exists. It’s not
metallic aluminum, the electron configuration
precludes that, but a ceramic. The problem is
that the material is deucedly hard and expensive
to manufacture. Here is a Wiki article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aluminium_oxynitride
One has to wonder, though… Would a vacuum environment with
microgravity allow for a different way to produce transparent
aluminum? It occurs to me the use of atomic sputtering
techniques that are being experimented with, could allow the
layering and accurate molecular structural of the material to
be established, possibly without the need for high pressure…
One would think the manufacture of graphine and carbon
nanotubes would be vastly easier,
when gravity isn’t a major factor.
Short of creating the grav drives, pressure is the only way
with the transparent alum. It starts as a powder, so low G
wouldn’t be much help. They have been doing manufacturing
experiments on the ISS, things like foamed metal has had
some success, but little was released on it. China does seem
to find out things no matter how careful they are.
since the space race ended,.
there is no real interest in space.!
AND at $10,000 per kilo to launch,
not including the 50+ million for the rocket..
it’s cheaper here so why bother..?
that said:
so you want to blow 100 mill a pop to test
your theory? because no one else does…
The US government has, yes. But how many private
companies are doing it now? The world’s governments
showed it can be done, and thanks to Musk and a few
other people, the private sector has taken it up. I see
commercial launches being as common as international
flights on airplanes in a decade or two. Muck’s Falcon
Nine rocket can launch and return for far less than than
the Saturn 5 ever could. The only reason NASA is trying
to go back to the moon now is because China is.
“According to current information, launching 1kg into
space with a Falcon 9 rocket would cost around $2,720
per kilogram, making it significantly cheaper than
previous launch vehicles like the Space Shuttle.
Key points about Falcon 9 launch costs:
Price per kg: Approximately $2,720
Comparison to Space Shuttle: The Space Shuttle
cost around $54,500 per kilogram
Future potential: SpaceX’s Starship program aims
to further reduce the cost per kilogram to as low as $10-20.”
We are looking at costs that would make the “trendy” people
to start launching family into orbit rather than bury them, and
save a fair amount of money too. Burial costs start at $12,000,
cremation at $2500.
The simplest way would be to adjust all existing
Cats’ germ plasm to make the alterations.
In addition, he could adjust the genome of all
kitts currently gestating. That way the changes
would gradually show up over a generation.
I suppose the sex alteration could be applied to
all females but that most assuredly would have
major repercussions.
I’ve been pondering this since Monday evening.
The thing too is ALL bodily openings were that way,
so the simple act of taking a dump would be affected
too. I don’t know about anyone else, but making that
easier would take a lot of stress from day-to-day
living… It would be nice if the Elder Gods could do
it to the current generations as well as future
generations.

“Oh, the Cat is fleet
And fast on it’s feet
And everyone thinks
the Cat’s pretty neat!”
“I will grant you a third wish, regardless”
“Ummmm….let’s keep it in reserve for later”

This will also likely change the social

Stock up on popcorn, boys and girls, things are about
to get interesting! (In both threads. PC you dawg!)
My first thought was: “Oh, this is gonna be gooooood!”
(sitting on the edge of the seat here 😉 )
