Miral is about to have the same moment that the Wolf pack
had when they returned to Jerico on so long ago, “A TV show?
cartoons and video games? Who’s been making money with
my name on it?!?” Relax Miral, it’s your retirement fund money 😉
(insert fan boy squeal during the entire visit)
Don’t you just love it when you start something and have to
leave it alone, only to find out the caretaker you left in charge
was better at it than you?
Yeah, me neither…
Question. This town is out in the hinterlands, right?
It’s more than a day’s ride from Jericho. How do these folks
1) know about Miral’s activities and
2) how would they get graphic novels printed/distributed?
BTW, nice pivot, PC using Scarsdale’s idea.
Meant to say something on the previous installment.
I get more than about ten feet from my Pirate Kitty,
and she starts screaming at me! And yeah, she does
talk to me, although, almost half the time I have to
kinda guess what she wants. I’m more surprised by
how often I can actually tell what she wants!
Mine is getting very close to having her babies,
so sleeping on my back, she’ll climb on my chest,
and rub her face on mine doing that “Murr-uona”
sound until I wake up. I haven’t been able to
to sleep more than 2 hours straight all week…
I had forgotten how clingy they get.
Yeah, I’m going to be out of state for a bit over a week, visiting
Relatives.if it weren’t that I haven’t been back there for over two
years, I’d probably just stay home. But these are people I love
and they were there at, frankly, one of the lowest times of my
Life, so it’s not just an obligation, but a necessity.
Besides, I need a bit of a road trip because I’m going stir crazy!
Truth be told,I never really realised how much my health was
impacted, until I started recovery, so, wish me luck!
they have the ‘Legion’.. Mail, and TV an radio..
oh and ,, word of mouth..
hence why i said,. ashcan / dime novel. you can
print on local printer, and get to more people,..
then you have the rare ‘coveted’ full color, legion
/ mail issues. (which means you have to interact
with the legion..)
Ah ok Now I remember what you’re talking about
Rob, I used to read “Tails from the Crypt” which were
newspaper print, totally black and white. 3 Issues
for 50 cents, from the local “Ben Franklin” 5 & 10
store. Didn’t have a true cover, just more newspaper.
When I was a boy it was my favorite place, lots of
cheap toys.
the 3 in 1 comics were all horror..
tftc, the vault of horror, and the
haunt of fear..
there was 2 in 1 sci-fi.. an a slice
of life.. then later was “Mad Magazine
Oh wow, I forgot I had a subscription to Mad mag
just before my wife and I started dating… I loved
the fold-able back covers on it. And the Spy vs Spy.
Ok the vault rings a bell, not sure about the haunt though.
Sad thing was my mother never really looks that what those
were about until she got nosy and threw a fit about the
content.
Which is what lead me to selling bait and tackle at the boat
docks 😉

Besides the commercial communications
(“news” paper, b’cast tv & radio)
there’s always amateur radio & CB.
And I’m sure that since the breakdown of the old FedGov,
strict rules have broken down; out-of-band b’cast,
transmit power increases, new digital comm modes.
What a time to be alive.
Yeah… Things are getting almost as tense as during
The Cold War… Me, I’m making sure that I have my
stuff together, just in case…
We get tornadoes and floods around here, and I’ve
Been through tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and
earthquakes, so yeah, I kind of took what the late
RAH said about being a Renaissance Man to heart…
I really need to get a generator for here, if power gets
knocked out it can be hours before they get out here.
My wife and father’s oxy machines pull about 500 watts
alone. We have bottles but they only last so long.
A generator is good voodoo insurance against power failures.
When I first moved out here, there would be an hours-long
power failure every four months or so.
After a couple of years of this, I finally broke down and bought
an expensive used-but-good sine wave generator that would
at least power my food storage and room AC.
It’s been over ten years, and we’ve had only one long
power failure since.
I have to remember to dump my stored gasoline into my van
or my Harley every once in a while and refill the cans.
I just priced a 2000 peak/1600 watt, 8 1/2hr runtime
at Harbor Freight at “only” $600…
so I guess I’ll have to look for a used one.
The only good thing about that subdivision going in
down the road from us is the blackouts have gone down,
but not stopped. The only real downside of living in the
boondocks… I actually had to call the fire dept. once out
here because an over-grown tree not only caused a
blackout but also caught fire, thankfully it wasn’t on the
property.
Bulls get tense when strangers are around the herd…
Scar, if you can afford it, get a couple of spare oxy units, some battery packs,
Inverters and a ton of solar panels and secure them in a faraday cage.
If things go south, it may not go full nuke, but I can almost guarantee that some
Morons will at least try dropping a few EMPs.
The national grid, I suspect, is far more resilient than we’ve been told, but local
grids and household electrical systems? They just aren’t grounded enough to
handle that kind of abuse.
It’s not so much a Carrington Event I’m worried about, but more of a Miyake Event.
(Read up.on the last. It’s scary.)
I will say this, if the actions of the sheriff and company are any
indication, it seems likely, that this is a group whom will easily
be integrated into the Empire, proper.
This could be a “It’s about time, guys” kind of
thing, unless there’s a jerk in charge, they
could have been hoping for this for a while.
The fact they were already making the survival
meds for residents on their own is a huge plus
in my book!
he’s got more than a vineyard. I heard it through the grapevine.
Hey now, there’s no reason to start grape-ing about it…
I’m sure Kiddeagle has his raisons.
is a “raison” some kind of French raisin?
That would be a raison d’etre
Guy’s, lets not wine about it…
i guess when it comes to jokes, i’m raisin the bar
I certainly wish someone would!
