She’s never seen the GT 500 before? Or the Plymouth?
I know the GT 500 was there in episode 852. It belongs to Carl
Behlen, but Galten was driving it. We can see Chira in panel 4, and
portions of the Mustang in panels 2, 3 and 4.
So it must be the Plymouth. If the Plymouth is there, Matthew and Kimi
are probably both there. At least one of them. For sure Teresa is there,
since that’s Pentia Vince in panels 3 and 4.
Sounds like a who’s who may be there, I’m sure it’ll be both girls as well as
Carl’s new wife, Mathew gave Kimi the challenger, so it’s at least her if not
both. And of course Teresa. I think this is going to be the Christmas party 🙂
Chira pretty much went straight from the ship to Johnathan’s place,
so she may never got a chance to see it. The GT was like my Camaro,
pretty much the back seat was more like a “mention” than a real one.
A couple of foam rubber pads covered with vinyl and rested on the
floor board or the trunk wall. I rarely had anyone in the back seat HEH!
The problem with the back seat in the Mustang GT wasn’t so much
the construction as the roof line. That “fastback” roof line was so
low that anybody more than 4 ft tall had to sit all hunched over. It
got uncomfortable PDQ. A Camaro back seat was pretty uncomfortable.
Those cars were really intended to be functional 2 seaters.
The Camaro wasn’t as bad, the last time I rode in the back of a Mach 1
was when I was 14, all I remember was my backside was sore heh…
It wasn’t a GT, it only had a 351. I agree about they were not made
for real seats, hell the trunk only held 3 paper bags of groceries!
Real fun car though, the speedo went up to 135 and I had mine up to
110… I had rusted out front fenders and I started to call then “wings”
😉 I had picked up a new-ish pair but then I got married…
My ’66 Mustang convertible didn’t have a back seat. It was so rusted that I had
a full cage installed because the frame was collapsing and the doors were pinched
shut. I even had new frame rails welded in where the leaf springs had punched
through the trunk floor. If I leaned on the front fender my hand would go through.
I used a hole saw to cut through the inner fenders so that I could change the
spark plugs.
With the four-barrel carburetor and the dual point ignition, I was constantly
making adjustments.
I learned how to drive a car that’s light in the ass… You nudge the steering
wheel in the direction you want to go, drop it down a gear and floor it. The
tail’s gonna swing around and if you time it right, you’ll end up going in
the desired direction. If your timing’s off, you’ll end up facing whichever
angry boyfriend is chasing you.
I loved that car. It got me into (and out of) so much trouble!
Mine was a sky-blue 1975 Mustang II, i.e. the Phony Pony. Or a
bulbous monstrosity. 3,000# with a 2.3 liter four-banger and, if
I recall correctly, a four-speed tranny. It went through clutches every
couple of years (and no, not because I popped the clutch a lot).
The clutch plate wasn’t beefy enough for the weight of the vehicle.
But I did love that little car. Had a Weber carb on it that
would do 70 on the freeway just using the primary jets. If you
stepped down on it though and opened the secondaries you could
almost watch the gas gauge drop.
Ah yes, I had an ’85 rescued junkyard one like that, 4 speed stick.
I drove it about 3 years, had to change the clutch, weld up the
crossover bar (rusted out) and the starter. My niece was once of
those crazy iffy drivers that would scare the crap outta anyone
riding with her, which was very hard on me after my BAD car accident.
So one day she was riding with me in the ‘stang and I was going
45 coming up to the turn off to her place so I didn’t slow down, I
just called out “right turn!” and took it at that speed! HA!
I fish-tailed a little bit, and then I looked over at her white face and
said “Sux, don’t it” she grumbled “Ok, ok I get it” and never wrecked
another car again 🙂 Any other car could of spun out trying that 😉
I hear that, my ‘maro was like that, the body was sound but just about
every mid-to-late models were fast to rust. The front more than any
other spot because they didn’t put full wheel-wells inside them, so road
salt and ice would collect. What sucked was the rear leaf springs were
shot and it tended to hit the tank on ridges, so I had to watch out. That
and it made it kick hard on launch.
sports car backseat = kids.! backseats were added to sports cars so
the “Family man” could have the sports car,. car industry was having
the “nuclear family” issue, – guys wanted muscle / sport car, wives
wanted “Family” car.! make a (tiny) back seat, poof, family car.!
the “Insurance seat” issue was a myth!! insurance
guys had the cars too,, they knew the deal.
I love how each and every person from any world seems to enjoy the
Empire’s way of life, and I can’t say I blame them! Being able to
do what you want, without interference, alone must be a novel
experience. As long as you don’t harm anyone else of course…
I doubt that any oppressed core member wouldn’t happily join an
Imperial member world to work and earn a fair wage, plus not having
to worry about some made up rule to soak them for money and to force
slow development of any town or city they want to erect. Much less
farms and such. Once the word gets out, I’m sure most of the core
will flock to the Imperial side… We have shirts and candy! 😉
I also miss the “Edit post” option. PC made some changes a while
back and ‘us poor posters’ lost the ability to correct misc.
mistakes before posting.
No, I will NOT try to spell it (misc.) in full – imagine all the
suggestions I got in Danish (insert emoji with great surprised
face 😉 ) when typing this…
Heh, I hear ya, an edit option would be nice,
I usually proofread before posting but now and then I’m
being called on by wife for something, so I have to rush.
I miss her being able to do normal things,
as with my father, but things happen.
Yeah, it’s a major pain to do, which is why I never brought it up.
I’d try to help, but I’ve never messed with the https style, I don’t
know if anything I remember (which isn’t much these days 🙁 )
that could help. I was using http back in the day, and used an editor
for most of the coding, saved a lot of time that way.
The new cat is doing pretty well, Jasmine is her name, she’s climbing
in my lap demanding pets and such, she’s even letting me pick her up
and hold her for short periods. She’s a nipper and a claw/pat type too
so you DON’T ignore her, or it hurts…
Not bad for an almost feral older kitten hiding
in our closet just a couple of months ago.
I think the freighter is complete. I just need the Catman to
bless it so I can send him the models. I have put some renders
up on Deviant Art so you can see.
Funny story. I started assembling everything and discovered
That somehow I had built the central spine TWICE as long
as intended. Had to make a quick adjustment.
Looks great, Bill. What are the real-life dimensions of the crew space? I
just want to be certain that it’s large enough for multiple generations.
Figure two grandparents, eight parents, maybe 30 children of varying
ages. So a total ship’s complement of 40-60.
It’s 90 ft in diameter by 150 ft long. There is also 1100ft of spine to spread
into. You hadn’t brought up the “generational” aspect when I finalized the
crew cab. The total volume of the crew cab is north of 760,000 cubic ft. With
a diameter of 90 ft there is room for a minimum of 6 decks. If you need it
to be bigger it is possible. The quickest (and easiest considering the current
geometry) way would be to lengthen the crew cab. It’s already 150 ft long
total. Lengthing it to 200 ft would add another 254,000 cubic ft for a total
just north of a million cubic feet. Otherwise I have to make a completely
new hull for the crew cab, cut windows in it and fit all the little fiddly bits
(docikng port, cargo door, sensors, antennas, weapons etc) to a larger
diameter hull. Your call. You’re the story teller, I just torture electrons.
Okay then. Tomorrow (Thursday) I’ll get to work exporting
models and zipping them together to email to you. Oh, you
never said if you want a name decal on the side. I sent you
renders with the simplest area to apply such a decal to.
Please let me know.
Be careful Julie. As soon as you stood at the curb waiting
to be picked up, you’ve been under the microscope. So be
careful what you say, how you behave and what you do.
The alcohol is being waved under your nose as a test ‘test’
(which I would have failed at that time in my youth)
Heh, same here. I think you’re right, this is a test and a stern warning to
“butt out” of his past, I know I’d get pissy about it and I’ve never been
military! Much less specops or anything, it’s just nobody’s business but
mine.
??

Forgot to mention we’re going out of town for a day. We won’t be
back until some time after 1900 tonight.
just so you know.. about your 90ft x 150ft ship.
https://th.bing.com/th/id/OIP.33BJ4oNPNcHnI0kzKcNAzwAAAA?rs=1&pid=ImgDetMain
the actual living area is 50ft x 150ft .
so yeah “Big enough”.
