I recognized Jami before I focused on Cherry. Thinking back on it,
Alex never did mention his sister’s name, and she only said that her
brother enrolled her in Krav Maga and gave her a knife. Not till
just now did the possibility even enter my mind.
Nice obfuscation/omission/surprise, PC!
Oh, she’s more than a friend, Cherry. Much more than a “friend”.
Oh, he had friends. But remember he was from a rough part of town,
and he had standards. Having a little sister to take care of forced
him to be a better person. If not for her, he might have ended up
in a worse place. Between school, work, and sister, he didn’t have
time or energy for romance. Cheryl always knew this, and blamed
herself for the things he was missing. And then he comes home with
an exotic, beautiful Amazon…
That does explain her training at least. I love the slide to stop,
complete metal shutdown! Jami’s like “Ok… I’ll just sit over
here and watch the show.” Smart man, I doubt it’s going to be bad
or anything, just very funny! More so she Cherry sees the ring.
I’m sure she never thought Alex would have a “friend” I can’t
wait to see her reaction about the engagement!!!
Very true, a forgotten colony would be very cautious around
“humans” if that is the case. I’m afraid the P’tera wouldn’t
be much help, seeing how they were the core’s flunkies until
now. Things might get a bit tense at first, hopefully things
will work out before anyone starts to shoot.
I just hope when the smoke settles, the Empire has a good say-so
about these types of actions. There’s been too much damage to
people AND planets already.
The Empire will probably become the interstellar police force, but
it will be the entire Empire, not just Terra. All of the kingdoms will
participate. Terrans and Cats will be a minority of the participants
and decision makers. I expect the Legion to have a role as well.
Well, you did show Taritha talking to a P’tera about that, and she said
they would be the “police force” but I agree one race couldn’t possibly
handle the ENTIRE scope. So it would have to be a “all hands in” type
of deal. Plus the Empire is putting out the fastest and strongest ships,
for now anyway. Even after everything, I’m sure there will be factions, etc..
Don’t forget about this: http://thegentlewolf.net/comic/tgw-1071/
The Ptera are getting the exact same ships that the Navy has, both fleets
improved by the technology sharing due to the “agreement-not-treaty”
between their two navies.
But the people in this story line don’t know about recent events yet, so
they’re still wary of each other.
True but they won’t quite be up to the Empire’s level, plus there
are many specialized ships they wouldn’t or couldn’t use, like the
wormhole cracker.
It’s like today, I was trying to explain to my father earlier, the
boozuka was the answer for tanks, but just in a few years they
were replaced with the LAW’s and today’s armed drones.
I wish I had taken the time to look up the declassified info, he had
questions I couldn’t answer off the top of my head. It’s not
annoying when he does that, his dementia comes and goes, I like
it when he is clear-minded enough to have conversions like that.
Most times he just retells stories from his youth. He was watching
the history channel about WWII/Korea and called me over to him
about the show and I tried to update him on some of the current
stuff.
I hadn’t thought about the Legion in that respect but it would be a good use of their numbers.
How would it work? Right now, IMS, Legionnaires are restricted from Jericho. How would it
work off planet? The troops would need shore leave periodically. Also, whomever “recruited”
the legionnaire crew would need to be very sure about vetting them. A rogue crew in control
of a warship (even a small one) could do a good bit of damage if they turned pirate.
They are already on Catia, they helped free them. I’m sure once
second contact is made and all the information made available,
they will want to join the Empire. It’s very possible these were
the miners that were either abandoned, or rebelled etc…
It would be much as it is today, their heaviest weapons are RPGs and
mortars. They would still be supported by the Navy with transport and
heavier weapons such as Dragonflies. And, as always, by the Empress.
One of her tricks when she visits a unit is to memorize the image, name
and a few facts about each individual… “Hello, John, your Sergeant told
me about your actions on ….., good job!
And her Legionnaires know that they are the only military force that can
address her as “Teresa” without titles. Because they’re HER Legionnaires.
I had a thought, and I’m quite sure she’d hate it, but it would be funny if the
Legionaries started to call her “Mother” heh.. Not to her face of course, that
might end badly. But she is pretty saintly, I know if she ever ran for president,
I’d vote for her! Although, dealing with the morons in public office would
drive anyone to drink, or like I read in a novel years ago, “fool kill” them.
“You’re the problem, men, take him out and shoot him!” Not a great idea,
but effective… The book, “The Glory road” I think it was called, was pretty
good and made a good case for an Empress.
Heh, true I know one was mentally begging to pull the trigger on “Oblama”
Hell, when the RL one was disrespecting his guard like he did I WANTED TO.
(Content censored due to violent content)
The core’s ideas kill me, early on the Empire proved not only was asteroid mining
was possible, but practical. These dork’s would rather rip up planets, destroy the
ecology, demand other’s to do the work, and pretend they are “helping the lesser
races”. Reminds me of another group, but I’m not going there…
I would love to look 100 years later at what the known TGW universe looks like…
The scope of an interstellar society is just mind boggling.
It sure won’t be a utopia.
There will always be people who envy others.
People who want to live in comfort on the efforts of others.
People who think that no one should be allowed to own or do
anything that they don’t approve of.
People who don’t think that they are getting the perks their
position deserves.
Witness the military and government officials who are pissed
that Teresa insists on using the same Locust transport module
that ordinary troops use, forcing them to do the same, without
the custom luxury modules that they would otherwise have
built for themselves.
In fact, that gives me an idea.
People who use the word “fair” to describe more than weather
or hair color.
And let us not forget the “Kill all unbelievers!” whack jobs.
The Imperial Legion and Marines will be busy fighting brush
fires for as long as the Empire exists.
Because people aren’t perfect, and being in groups will often
magnify those imperfections.
Oh no I never said anything like that, I know better. There will
always be the odd world out of the way that no one goes to
often, Ideal for a “secret base” or where a new religion will
start. There’s always someone that “think they knows what’s
best” or some other weak excuse to do cruel things that only
benefits them. Or some trumped up self-created leader that
yells “His eyebrow isn’t level! Kill him!” Whether it’s a controlling
asshole or a supposed religion that has genocide as part of
it’s doctrine, we will never be “free” of it.
Did you watch the video? It slams the CCP. Lei is about
as far from a Chinese political propagandist as one
person can get. While she loves China and it’s people,
she absolutely despises the CCP.
It was the same with USSR, they acted much the same before the fall.
It got very bad in the 80s, People were being shot off the wall trying
to climb over it.
I’d say North Korea is how they want to world to be like, which is scary
in itself.
Same here, that video did clear up a few things for me, no one has ever said
anything like that before, I don’t doubt it’s been suppressed because certain
people want to use it as excuses. I’ve asked often if fossil fuels are the cause,
why does this show up in the fossil record before man even knew what they
were? Or even existed? I keep thinking about Al Gore and his “carbon points
for sale”
1. They don’t have 400 crew members to put on the red shirts.
2. First contact is the responsibility of the command crew, or
those trained in first contact protocols.
In all iterations of ST it’s said that the captain of any ship is
to both a diplomat and a ships captain. Even Archer, the first
deep space captain, started the tradition of first contact. His
actions helped create the Prime Directive and made first
contact rules.
I agree, the ships captain shouldn’t be the one walking into
dangerous situations, but they are trying to introduce
themselves and hoping no one starts shooting.
Like in the ‘Spectre of the Gun’ episode, where the captain, first officer,
chief medical officer, chief engineer and Chekov all go to the planet.
Oh, wait. They didn’t choose that grouping, did they? The Melkots grabbed
them off the bridge.
Well, I’m sure there are other high target value groupings that were
voluntary (‘The City on the Edge of Forever’ comes to mind), but I’m
supposed to be working for pay, so I’m not going to go looking right now.
(Ok, yes I did.)
Heh, yeah one of the nice things about being “retired”.
There’s been many times the command crew were in mortal danger,
But it is why Kirk was so highly respected by his crew, he never
asked anyone to do something he wouldn’t do, it’s the mark of
a great leader. Picard was forced into his roll but he proved himself
many times over the years. Archer was a scientist and pilot, he
had to figure things out along the way, Janeway… well she did get
everyone home. Sisco was forced into a war no one wanted, and
did very well. I was sad when he “left” but it did make some sense.
Online shopping is getting worse. I have three Amazon and one ebay
returns to send back tomorrow just from the last two weeks. Two were
sellers that shipped much cheaper items than I’d paid for and two that
were defective when they arrived.
No shipping damage, just defective.
Which is why I prefer to purchase directly from the manufacturer nowadays,
like Western Digital for storage, Crucial and Corsair for other things.
What bugs me is the attitude. One seller who sent me a $16.00 item instead
of the $40.00 one that I’d ordered replied “Hey, you don’t like it? Send it back.”
No apology, nothing.
Aha. So Alex is that Cherry’s brother. Funny.
Cherry never struck me as being someone who
was likely to find themself at a loss for words.
From the way Alex talked, he never had a girlfriend,
much less friends. So it is a total shock for Cherry.
Heh, yeah been there myself, in my case it was my
Sensei that “Woke” me. Otherwise I might not of
made past my 20s. Well, that and my wife and kids.
Sent you an email.
That does explain her training at least. I love the slide to stop,
complete metal shutdown! Jami’s like “Ok… I’ll just sit over

Cheryl looped for a bit on “not Alex”. And I suspect Cissy enjoys
being not-Alex in her time with Alex :}
>”convinced the Core”
Those strip mines must have been marginal. Seems the Core seldom
takes “no” for an answer :{
There’s only room in this world for one Alex.
Wouldn’t hurt if there was! Heh,
but yeah his determination and ethics are one-of-a-kind.
I just hope when the smoke settles, the Empire has a good say-so

Okay, not exactly the same. The Pterans won’t have Tobys,
but they will have increased missile storage to make up for it.
True but they won’t quite be up to the Empire’s level, plus there

Mr Cat that is an interesting video as well.
Chinese political propaganda at its best.

I see they follow Starfleet protocols. Always send the captain and at least one other
senior officer on all potentially dangerous away missions.
2 things though.
1. They don’t have 400 crew members to put on the red shirts.
2. First contact is the responsibility of the command crew, or
